Flight to Madeira and back Price examples from/to Frankfurt Airport. Prices are based on limited available airline fares. Surcharges are possible at any time. Other departure airports can be selected. If you have booked your flights through ASI Reisen, you will be picked up at Madeira airport by an ASI Reisen representative: Since you will be traveling on different planes, there may be some waiting time. Please look for the ASI welcome sign with our logo as a recognition sign. Afterwards bus or cab ride to our hotel (approx. 40 min.) Participants who have arrived earlier will meet the guide at 19.00 hrs.

      Flight to Madeira. You will be picked up at Madeira airport by an ASI representative and driven to the hotel. In the evening the ASI hiking guide welcomes us and presents the hiking program of the coming week.

  • Day 2 Day 2: The Plateau Of Paul Do Mar

      Day 2: The Plateau Of Paul Do Mar

      After breakfast we drive to the rustic west of the island and reach Paul do Mar. From here we climb a high trail: with each step the view over the sea becomes more spectacular. Finally we reach Prazeres and have a delightful lunch.

      Day 3: Calderao Verde - The Green Cauldron Of Madeira

      We hike through the green heart of Madeira: from Ilha we climb up a lush ridge and finally reach the levada. From here we hike to a scenic highlight of Madeira, the Calderao Verde. Through the impressive laurel forest, with sheer unique features and wonderfully diverse vegetation. Along the levada Caldeirao Verde we reach Queimadas.

  • Day 4 Day 4: In Foldahal Valley

      Day 4: In Foldahal Valley

      In the morning we enjoy breakfast. We then drive up to Encumeada Pass, that point in the Serra de Agua that divides the island into two halves: to the west stretches the Paul da Serra plateau, to the east the rocky peaks of the Picos. Through a tunnel we reach the Foldahal Valley, which lies above Sao Vicente. Deeper and deeper we dive into this fantastic vegetation. Standing at a clearing, we enjoy the views of the rocky giants jutting out of the forest.

      Day 5: A Day In Funchal

      Funchal is worth a visit: the flair of the old town streets, the Manolian style of the houses, the harbor promenade and of course: the market! Olifactorically a roller coaster ride from fragrant flowers to night fishing. We enjoy and stroll, marvel and feast not least in one of the countless small, local restaurants in the winding old town.

      A completely different world awaits us today: a panoramic tour over the roof of the island - the wonderful world of the Picos: steeply sloping rocky slopes, fascinating valleys, ancient tree heath and always wonderful views. Shortly before the end of the hike, we are at Pico Ruivo, the highest mountain on the island (1,861 m).

      Day 7: The Valley Of The Nuns

      Drive to the heart of the island to Boca da Corrida (1,220 m). From there, the wonderfully laid out path leads in overwhelming mountain scenery to the foot of Pico Grande (1,300 m). Under chestnut trees we hike on a serpentine path down to the Valley of the Nuns, where we stop for chestnut specialties. Unforgettable stop at Senhor Gabriel.
