      On an exploration tour through the Togolese capital, you will visit the central market area and the amazing Akodessewa fetish market. Here you can find all the necessary ingredients for a voodoo ceremony. Just outside Lome, you will experience a traditional knife dance in the afternoon - donโ€™t worry, nobody will get hurt. Return to Lome. Overnight stay as on the previous day. (Travel time approx. 2 hours, approx. 100 km).

      Day 3: Togoville - Zangbeto Ceremony In Grand Popo

      In the morning, take a pirogue to Togoville on the lake of the same name. Once the capital of the German protectorate, the treaty between King Mlapa and Gustav Nachtigal was signed here in 1884. The townโ€™s cathedral is well worth a visit. Inside you will find unique African paintings. Drive along the beautiful coastal landscape towards Benin. After crossing the border, you continue to Grand-Popo. At the end of the day, you will attend the impressive Zangbeto ceremony. The nocturnal guardians - "Zangbetos" - dance in multi-colored straw dresses accompanied by a drum roll.       Day 4: Grand Popo - Ouidah

      Continue to the historic town of Ouidah. The afternoon is dedicated to the tragic history of slavery and the mystical voodoo religion. You will visit the historical museum, the python temple and the sacred forest. You will then visit the slave route from the auction site to the "Gate of No Return". The rest of the day is free for you to explore at your own leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel. (Travel time approx. 2 hours, approx. 50 km).

      Day 5: Stelzendorf Ganvie - Abomey

      After breakfast, you leave Ouidah in the direction of Abomey. On the way, you will take a boat trip on Lake Nokoue to the stilt village of Ganvie, which is not without good reason known as the Venice of West Africa. Surrounded by a picturesque landscape, fishermen, schoolchildren and market women glide through the "water town" with its colorfully painted wooden houses on stilts. Once you arrive in Abomey, you will visit the royal palaces (UNESCO World Heritage Site) and learn about the history of the past kingdom. Please note: the two royal palaces that make up the Historical Museum are currently being renovated and cannot be visited. You will visit royal palaces that have already been renovated and an interesting voodoo temple. Overnight stay in a hotel. (Travel time approx. 2-3 hours, approx. 150 km).

      Day 6: Visit To The Yom In Taneka - Natitingou

      With the first rays of sunshine, you make your way to Natitingou. Passing meadows and fertile fields, you continue towards the Atakora Mountains. Near Copargo, you will visit the round hut village of Taneka and the Yom people who live here. According to ancient traditions, the Yom live in round hut villages. They are related to the Somba and Tamberma ethnic groups. During an audience with the king, you will be introduced to the history and culture of the village. You reach Natitingou in the late afternoon. Overnight stay at the hotel. (Travel time approx. 6-7 hours, approx. 350 km).

      Day 7: In The Land Of The Somba And Tamberma

      The route continues through the Atakora mountains to the land of the Somba and Tamberma. In the Koutammakou region, you will visit the village of Koussoucoingou and gain an insight into the way of life of this ethnic group. This region is known for its extraordinary clay castles, which were once built to protect against slave hunters (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Once in Togo, you continue to the blacksmith village of Tchare, picturesquely situated in the Kaye Mountains. After an entertaining drive, you will reach Kara. Overnight stay in the hotel.       Your journey to Tamale today takes you through the land of the Bassar. You stop at a typical blast furnace, as they were used to extract iron 2000 years ago, and experience a traditional fire dance performance. Seemingly without feeling any pain, the dancers put glowing charcoal in their mouths in a trance. Onward journey towards Ghana. Arrival in Tamale, one of Ghanaโ€™s largest cities, in the evening. Overnight stay in a hotel. (Travel time approx. 6-7 hours plus border crossing, approx. 270 km).

      Day 9: Tamale - Ashanti Ceremony In Kumasi

      On the way to Kumasi, you cross the Black and White Volta, two of the three headwaters of Ghanaโ€™s largest river. In Kintampo you visit the waterfall of the same name. For the Akan and Ga peoples, Saturday is a traditional day for funerals and burials. With a bit of luck, you will have the opportunity to take part in a traditional Ashanti funeral ceremony in the afternoon. Dressed in magnificent robes and accompanied by music, the spectacle becomes a colorful celebration. Continue to Kumasi. Overnight stay in a hotel. (Travel time approx. 6-7 hours, approx. 400 km).

      Depending on the date, you will experience the cultural highlight of the trip today - the Akwasidae festival, at which the Ashantehene - the king of the Ashanti - receives the homage of his subjects. Afterwards, visit the Cultural Center with its artisans, the Prempeh II Jubilee Museum and the royal residence in the Manhyia Palace Museum. Overnight stay as on the previous day.

Stroll through the lively fish market, marvel at the traditional Posuban shrines (outside visit) and enjoy a fantastic view of the picturesque fishing harbor, the proud fort and the expanse of the ocean from the Sao Jago da Mina fortress built high above the town. A day room in your hotel is at your disposal until your transfer to the airport in the evening.
