Day 2: Between The Fjords &Amp; The Arctic Circle: Small Town Norwegian!

Good morning! So, are you up early again? No wonder, because with your anticipation for today you just couldnโ€™t stay in bed any longer! Your keys are already jingling happily in your pocket as you think about todayโ€™s road trip destination. Your route takes you past snow-covered mountain peaks and shimmering dark blue fjords. Need a break? Then stop at a coastal section of your choice and, with a bit of luck, youโ€™ll be joined by singing humpback whales and orcas on the hunt for fish! The hilly landscape is increasingly criss-crossed by water - a magical sight to remember. Then you have reached todayโ€™s destination near the Lofoten Islands.
Welcome to Narvik! The harbor town is located on a headland between two arms of the Ofotfjord north of the Arctic Circle. Want to get an overview first? Then take the cable car (optional, payable locally) and travel comfortably up to the local mountain! The view from up here is priceless! The surrounding mountains, the fjord - everything shines in unique beauty. What else can your eagle eyes spot? Perhaps a restaurant where you can fill your stomach with local fish specialties tonight?
  • Day 3 Day 3: Lofoten: Journey To Another World!
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 3: Lofoten: Journey To Another World!

Excited is not an expression at all, because today is a day when dreams come true! Impressive rock formations, fjords straight out of a picture book and the relaxed attitude to life of the islanders: you can hardly wait to experience all this up close and personal. Quickly straighten your rear-view mirror and off you go: The Lofoten Islands are waiting for you!
A quiet "wow" crosses your lips at the sight of your surroundings: Youโ€™ve landed in a completely different world! Red fishermenโ€™s huts, built on stilts directly on the rocky shore of the deep blue sea, a rugged mountain landscape, only occasionally covered by sparse vegetation: the people here have turned this seemingly inhospitable area into a dreamlike place to live - and the perfect playground for you to explore! So: a quick check-in at your accommodation and off you go. Are you hungry? Then head to one of the many fish restaurants and order a local specialty such as bacalao to really get a taste of Lofoten!
  • Day 4 Day 4: Untouched Norway: From Trollfjord To Fishing Village
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 4: Untouched Norway: From Trollfjord To Fishing Village

Ready to immerse yourself in the world of Lofoten? Then letโ€™s go! The European highway E10 connects the islands of Lofoten, but you can only really immerse yourself if you simply park the car and continue on foot. No windshield separates you from nature and you can feel the unspoiled nature of the Lofoten Islands up close! Back on the road, you head for Henningsvรฆr: a small fishing village on the south side of Lofoten. The village stretches across eight islands, which are connected by bridges. Stroll between the little houses on stilts and if you need a bite to eat, make yourself comfortable in one of the many cafรฉs. Need to recharge your batteries? Then itโ€™s on to the Trollfjord. At just 2.5 kilometers, itโ€™s certainly not the size of the Trollfjord that makes it so special. Rather, it is its unmistakable beauty that you can get very close to!
  • Day 5 Day 5: Time For Beach: Sandy Beaches North Of The Arctic Circle
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 5: Time For Beach: Sandy Beaches North Of The Arctic Circle

After rocky cliffs, stilt houses and mountain panoramas, how about a sandy beach today? Thatโ€™s right: Lofoten never ceases to surprise! Haukland Beach and Uttakleiv Beach are among the most beautiful beaches on the islands, both of which are easily accessible on four wheels. Kvalvika Beach is more secluded and hidden and can only be reached after a short hike. Suddenly you are standing on fine sand, looking out to sea and can hardly believe that you are standing many kilometers north of the Arctic Circle, as turquoise blue as the water shines towards you.
The rest of the day you simply drift across the island. You drive off where you like it right now and soak up the indescribable landscape around you. What time is it actually? You have lost all sense of time, because from mid-May to mid-July there is midnight sun on the Lofoten Islands, which is why it is still daylight until late in the evening - all the more time for exploring!
  • Day 6 Day 6: Adventure Ahead: The Call Of The Far North!
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 6: Adventure Ahead: The Call Of The Far North!

Today you are slowly but surely making your way east to leave Lofoten again. But wait, did you still want to visit the fishing village of Nusfjord or take that one excursion? No problem, thereโ€™s still a little time left to do everything you havenโ€™t managed to do yet! After an unforgettable Lofoten experience, take another look back to make sure you remember the postcard motif of bright red stilt houses against a unique natural backdrop. But then itโ€™s finally time to move on.
As you approach Harstad, you can see the 1200-metre-high Mรธysalen mountain, which is located in the national park of the same name, from afar. You check into your hotel and make your first plans for exploring your surroundings. The best way to get an overview is to hike up the local mountain, Gangsรฅstoppen, from where you have a perfect panoramic view of Harstad. And now? You hear your stomach growling - and the evening plans are clear!
  • Day 7 Day 7: Lyngen Alps: An Adventurerโ€™S Paradise!

You marvel at the backdrop of deep blue fjords and snow-covered peaks passing by your window as you drive. Hopefully you still have some memory left on your camera!
Suddenly they loom before you: the mighty Lyngen Alps. Peaks of up to 1800 m in height stretch over almost 90 kilometers - and immediately your head starts spinning: what you can experience here ... The Alps are not yet widely developed for tourism, so you can still feel nature here in all its pristine glory! And it has even more to offer you: The Lyngen Alps are surrounded on both sides by huge, crystal-clear fjords. The Lyngenfjord is the longest in the region and not only offers fabulous views, but is also home to numerous marine animals. So, what do you fancy? • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 8: Hei Hammerfest: The Northernmost City In The World!

Where are we going today? To Hammerfest! The city bears the title of "northernmost city in the world", although thatโ€™s not strictly speaking true. But that doesnโ€™t detract from the adventure: in addition to this title, there are numerous other reasons why you canโ€™t miss Hammerfest!
Whether itโ€™s for the midnight sun in summer or the polar night in winter: Hammerfest is an absolute must-see on your bucket list. Your first stop will take you to the harbor where, with a bit of luck, you can watch one of the famous Hurtigruten mail ships set sail. Next up is a visit to the polar bear club "Isbjรธrnklubben" - the absolute highlight of the city! For a small donation to the museum, you can become a member yourself and receive a diploma with your name on it as well as free entry for life - the perfect souvenir of your Norwegian adventure!
Want to end your day with a fabulous view over the city? Then climb Sikksakkveien, which - as the name suggests - zigzags its way up Salen Hill. In the mystical glow of the never-setting midnight sun, you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the city and the surrounding fjords - simply magical!
  • Day 9 Day 9: Northwards: A Road Trip Of Superlatives!
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 9: Northwards: A Road Trip Of Superlatives!

The time has finally come: youโ€™re heading for the North Cape! You donโ€™t even need to look at the sat nav to know that you are now almost 500 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle, as the landscape around you becomes increasingly barren and rocky. Every now and then you have to stop briefly to give the reindeer the right of way. Now itโ€™s time to pass through the Nordkap Tunnel - 200 meters below sea level, this takes you to the island of Magerรธya. A short time later you reach your destination.
Welcome to Honningsvรฅg! A quick check-in at the hotel, unload your suitcases - and youโ€™re ready to head outside again. You explore the remote fishing village on foot - taking your camera with you to capture every moment. In the evening, take a seat in the Sjรธgata Pub and round off the day with a delicious drink and a wonderful view of the colorful fishing boats in the harbor.

The place is even more beautiful than you imagined - the rugged cape, the endless expanse. You look down from above onto the endlessness of the European Arctic Ocean, your finger constantly on the cameraโ€™s shutter release - you want to keep this moment in your head forever! The view alone is not enough for you? You can warm up in the North Cape Hall (optional, payable on site) and get some fun facts to share.

    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 11: Road Trip To Alta: On The Trail Of Trolls

Off to the south! "Chasing the sun" may be a bit of an exaggeration, but that doesnโ€™t detract from the adventure. Before you reach Alta, you can make a stop in Trollholmsund. With a little imagination, the dolomite rocks are actually reminiscent of petrified trolls and were formed over 700 million years ago - I wonder what theyโ€™ve seen? In any case, lots of enthusiastic faces like yours! Then itโ€™s on to the next stop, because todayโ€™s destination is already waiting for you.
Alta, the city of the Northern Lights, welcomes you! Whether in the glow of the midnight sun or against the backdrop of the Northern Lights - a visit to the Northern Lights Cathedral is a must in Alta (optional, payable locally). The spiral-shaped building will inspire you with its exterior as well as its interior. Seen enough for today? Then make yourself comfortable with a cup of tea in your accommodation and look forward to going to bed. Your dreams? Filled with hundreds of adventures!

Day 12: Exploring Alta: Between Artwork &Amp; Canyon

Time to explore! Are you well fortified? Then youโ€™re ready to go! Today, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of a special kind is on the agenda: the World Heritage Rock Art Centre (optional, payable locally). The open-air museum exhibits over 6000 prehistoric rock paintings and drawings at five different locations along the fjord (optional, payable locally). The paintings give you an insight into the culture of hunters and gatherers and you will be amazed at how incredibly old the works of art in front of you are. With lots of great images in your head, you then make your way to the next highlight: the Alta Canyon! If you fancy a hike, donโ€™t miss out - after all, youโ€™re in the largest canyon in Northern Europe. If that doesnโ€™t sound like something to tick off your bucket list! If youโ€™re lucky, you might even come across reindeer here, so keep your eyes peeled!

Do you want to memorize the sight of the city once again? Then make your way back up Storsteinen - the cable car will take you to the summit in just 4 minutes! From a height of over 400 meters, you can let your gaze wander, with the Tromsรธ Bridge, which connects the city center on the island of Tromsรธya with the Tromsdalen district on the mainland, naturally standing out. Once back down, take a stroll through the lively city before enjoying a typical Norwegian meal in the evening. God appetite!

    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 14: Dreamlike Tromsรธ: Happy All Round!

Tromsรธ is known for many superlatives due to its location: the northernmost botanical garden, the northernmost brewery, the northernmost cathedral ... youโ€™ve already discovered much of this, but whatโ€™s still missing from your bucket list? Perhaps some unusual cuisine? Then try local specialties such as grilled stockfish or reindeer fillet! While you enjoy the delicacies in a cozy restaurant, think about what else you would like to do today: just relax or do some action? Anything is possible and there are plenty of ideas: a walk along Telegrafbukta beach, a short hike through the mountains or a boat tour across the fjord (optional, payable on site)? No matter what you choose: Enjoy your last day in Tromsรธ to the full and snuggle up in bed in the evening, satisfied and with lots of new impressions in your head!
