  • Day 1 Day 1: Trabzon - Sumela - Karaca - Hamsikoy - Trabzon

      Day 1: Trabzon - Sumela - Karaca - Hamsikoy - Trabzon

      Your day begins with a transfer from your hotel in Istanbul to the airport for your flight to Trabzon. After arriving in, we will go to Sumela Monastery, there will be plenty of time to explore the monastery and take in the breathtaking views over Altindere Valley.

      After lunch, we will explore Karaca Cave located near the quaint village of Cebeli, with its stalactites and stalagmites, as well as the unique flora.

      The village of Hamsikoy, which is on the old silk road is next on the agenda, famous for its delicious rice pudding so grab a spoon and tuck in.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Trabzon - Uzungol

      Day 2: Trabzon - Uzungol

      Hagia Sofia, a Byzantine church converted into a mosque in 1584, is where we are going first thing this morning, you can explore the beautiful frescoes of this museum and learn about the history of Trabzon. We will then travel onto the Villa, where Kemal Ataturk stayed during his visits to Trabzon. Here you will experience the panoramic views across the city and out over the Black Sea from the hillside at Boztepe.

      After exploring Trabzon, we will head towards Uzungol Lake, on the way stopping for lunch, then on to see the skilled craftsmen in Surmene who make ornate daggers in only half an hour. 

      When we arrive in Uzungol, we will check in to the hotel, and then you will have free time to explore this stunning slice of the countryside, with the lake surrounded on all sides by high green mountains and hiking trails. You may wish to rent a pedal boat or explore the hiking trails to see some of Turkeyโ€™s incredible wildlife, such as the Eurasian lynx, roe deer and various birds of prey.

  • Day 3 Day 3: Uzungol - Rize - Ayder

      Day 3: Uzungol - Rize - Ayder

      The beauty and natural surroundings of Uzungol and the Ayder Highlands will delight you today. 

      On the way to we will stop in Rize and watch the local craftsmen weaving cotton fabrics, there will be time to have a tea break in the Botanical Gardens.

      From Rize to Ayder, there is a lovely old stone bridge built by the Ottomans in Storm Valley we will stop for a tea break and then continue to the waterfalls in the Ayder Highlands. 

      We will have some lunch, and then you will check in to the village hotel, there will be free time to explore the this beautiful part of Turkey.

  • Day 4 Day 4: Ayder - Trabzon

      Day 4: Ayder - Trabzon

      Tea and kiwifruit plantations are all around us in Caglayan village you will see the steep steps cut into the Lazic mountains, enabling these plantations to grow abundantly on these high plateaus. We will then take a relaxed one-hour walk along the River Caglayan.

      Cayeli, which is famous for having the best bean dish in Turkey, is where we will travel to next for lunch.

      Trabzon City Tour

      We will follow the coastal highway all the way back to Trabzon, there will be time to pick up a bargain at the bazaar, and then it will be time to go to the airport for your flight back to Istanbul or Izmir.

      Flight back to Istanbul & drop off at Hotel

      Two domestic flights, as well as all transfers to accommodations, are included in the price of this tour.
