    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 1: Arrival

Flight to London Heathrow. At the airport, you will be met by your tour guide. It takes around 2 hours to reach Englandโ€™s south coast and then the ferry takes you to the Isle of Wight in around 45 minutes. A drive through the idyllic hilly landscape of the island takes you to your hotel. In the evening, you will have the opportunity to get to know your fellow travellers better over a first dinner together and get in the mood for the next few days together. (A)

  • Day 2 Day 2: Imposing Coastal Landscape
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 2: Imposing Coastal Landscape

In the footsteps of Alfred Tennyson, official Victorian court poet at the time, you climb the hill by the sea named after him. Your further way leads both along the picturesque coastal landscape and through the inland, to the only thatched church on the island and to the west coast. There you will reach the dramatic limestone cliffs with the famous formation "The Needles" and the colorful sand cliffs of Alum Bay. On your way back to Freshwater Bay you can enjoy the view from Tennyson Monument over the island. If the sun is shining, you will enjoy a color symphony of the white of the cliffs, the blue of the sky and the lush green of the meadows (moderate, 12 km, walking time: approx. 3.5 hrs., +/-400 meters altitude difference). • Day 3 Day 3: Hike To Shanklin Seaside Resort
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 3: Hike To Shanklin Seaside Resort

From the idyllic Godshill you walk today to Shanklin. Through unique nature and forests you will reach the imposing Appledurcombe Manor. This was the largest manor house on the island in the 18th century, until it was destroyed in a bombing raid during World War II. Today, only the outer shell remains, but you can still visit this special testimony to history. Afterwards, climb up to the Wroxall Downs and after a while you will reach the seaside resort of Shanklin. Enjoy your afternoon in the Old Village - here you can spend time in quaint pubs, tea rooms and nice shops. Return to Freshwater Bay for dinner (moderate, 12 km, approx. 4 hrs, +/-350 hm). (B/A)

  • Day 4 Day 4: Harbour Village Yarmouth
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 4: Harbour Village Yarmouth

Today your route takes you along the cliffs again, opening up beautiful views of the bay and the surrounding Downs. Then you turn north inland and walk along a former railroad line along the woods, meadows and salt marshes to the town of Yarmouth. In the lively ferry and sailing harbor town, youโ€™ll have time to stop at one of the pretty cafes or have a relaxing picnic on the pier. The path through the fields and villages will bring you back to the hotel. However, there is also the possibility to make the way back by public transport (easy, 13 km, approx. 4 hrs, +/-150 hm). (B/A)

  • Day 5 Day 5: Day At Leisure
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 5: Day At Leisure

Guests are welcome to spend the day on the island according to your own preferences. Visit magnificent properties such as Osborne House, Queen Victoriaโ€™s residence, or the unique garden of Mottistone Manor. Alternatively, guests can visit the Dimbola Museum to discover modern photographic works. The former home of photographic epionist Julia Margaret Cameron also shows many of her feats. If you would like to stroll a little, the large seaside resort of Ryde is recommended. In the evening, you can meet the group at the hotel and share your individual experiences. (F/A)

  • Day 6 Day 6: Carisbrooke Castle
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 6: Carisbrooke Castle

You will start your day with a tour of Carisbrooke Castle, which authentically represents almost all phases of fortress construction in Great Britain. The most prominent inhabitant of this fortress was Charles I, who was imprisoned here before he was executed in London in 1649. On the high castle walls you can walk almost completely around the ensemble and enjoy wide views over the hilly country of the island, above which the castle towers. This is followed by a hike over the limestone ridges of the Downs. These are called "The Spine" because they form the backbone of the island. On the Tennyson Trail you will walk along the woods and fields towards Freshwater Bay. At the end of the day you will have a fantastic view over the whole island high up on Brightstone Down (moderate, 16 km, approx. 5 hrs, +/-350 hm). (B/A)

  • Day 7 Day 7: Fancy Ventnor Botanical Garden
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 7: Fancy Ventnor Botanical Garden

You will walk along the cliffs of the south coast, more than 100 meters high, and you can discover the Undercliffs, created by thousands of years of erosion, which have formed a wide strip in the process. Protected by the high cliffs, the climate here is almost subtropical. Therefore, one of the most colorful and unusual gardens in Great Britain, Ventnor Botanic Garden, grows and thrives in this place. In the afternoon you will have several options. Below the garden lies the picturesque Steephill Cove with a small lighthouse and pretty beach stalls, a good opportunity to try a crab sandwich or have an ice cream on the beach. If youโ€™d rather indulge your wanderlust, you can pay a visit to the seaside resort of Ventnor, located just a kilometer from Steephill Cove. In the evening, meet for a final dinner with your fellow travelers and review the past days (easy, 9 km, approx. 3 hrs, +/-250 hm). (B/A)

  • Day 8 Day 8: Return Home
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 8: Return Home

Overlooking the cliffs and the ocean, the ferry will take you back to the mainland. Then you will be taken to London Heathrow Airport, from where you will start your return journey โ€” with plenty of fond memories of this unforgettable journey. (F)
