Itinerary of your trip Iceland Highlights

  • Day 1 Trip To Iceland And Drive To The South Coast
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Trip To Iceland And Drive To The South Coast

Flight bookings can be made individually or through us. For a relaxed start, we recommend arriving 1 day early. Reykjavik as a creative metropolis at the 65th parallel is worth your individual attention. Galleries, pubs, pretty stores and lots of music and joie de vivre await you. We will be happy to book you an extra night on request.

Arrival on the day of departure by 4 pm. We then depart from the airport, pick up guests who have already arrived in Reykjavik (meeting point 20 minutesโ€™ walk from the hotel) and immerse ourselves directly in Icelandic nature. We have about 2 hoursโ€™ drive along the south coast ahead of us. We arrive at our guest farm in the middle of beautiful nature just in time for dinner. Cooking together and getting to know each other.

Overnight stay: on a guest farm with shared bathrooms (A); driving time 170 km/ approx. 2.5 h

  • Day 2 Day Trip With Hiking In Thorsmรถrk
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day Trip With Hiking In Thorsmรถrk

A truly extraordinary excursion awaits us today: our journey is only 30 kilometers long into the enclosed valley, but itโ€™s a tough one! We will cross various glacier drains, drive along bright green rocks and along the powerful Krossรก river. The protected green valley lies below large glaciers. In good weather we have spectacular views of hanging glaciers. Our approx. 4-hour hike takes us through lovely meadows, black and red lava landscapes and opens up wide views over the Icelandic mountains. PLEASE NOTE that the trip is dependent on the water levels of the glacier streams, therefore the trip cannot be 100% guaranteed. Alternatively, we undertake a day hike from Skogarfoss towards the Eyjafjallajรถkull glacier.

Overnight: Guest farm as on the previous day; (F/M/A); 4-5 h hike; 60 km/ approx. 3.5 h spectacular drive.

  • Day 3 Highlights Along The South Coast
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Highlights Along The South Coast

Along the south coast with many stops, walks and short hikes, we reach the largest glacier in Europe, Vatnajรถkull, in the late afternoon. We walk behind, next to and along waterfalls embedded in greenery, which plunge into the valley from almost 100-meter-high precipices. We walk along black beaches, marvel at a lava cave with octagonal steles, go in search of puffins and drive along the huge outwash plains and glacier tongues that roll towards the sea. Today we feel the uniqueness of this northern island again. Our accommodation is not far from a glacier tongue, which can be hiked.

      Overnight stay: in a guesthouse at Vatnajรถkull; (F/M); 2-3 h hike; driving time 300 km/ approx. 4 h drive

  • Day 4 Activities In Vatnajรถkull National Park
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Activities In Vatnajรถkull National Park

There are many exciting options today. In the morning, you have the opportunity to go on a glacier hike on one of the tongues of Vatnajรถkull. No glacier experience is necessary, tour duration 3 hours, of which 1.5 hours on the glacier. Crampons are provided on site, English speaking with certified glacier guide (optional 110 โ‚ฌ). Alternatively, you can take part in the "big kayak tour" on the Heinabergslรณn glacier lake. No kayaking experience necessary, approx. 2 hours in the boat, dry suits provided, English-speaking certified kayak guide (optional, approx. 150 โ‚ฌ).

If you prefer to discover the magnificent nature and glacier landscape on your own, you can walk directly from the guesthouse on a signposted hiking trail to a lonely glacier tongue and a glacial lake of Vatnajรถkull (2-4 hours). Or you can simply take it easy for the day, enjoy the beautiful landscape from your terrace and let your mind wander.

In the early afternoon, we drive to the famous Jรถkulsรกrlon glacier lagoon with its shimmering blue icebergs. At Diamond Beach nearby, icebergs that drift out of the glacier lagoon into the sea are often washed up on the black beach. A fantastic picture, like diamonds on the beach...! And here too, you can discover the lagoon by kayak as an alternative or in addition to your morning excursions! The "small kayak tour" takes 1 hour through the ice-blue water close to the edge of the glacier and the icebergs (optional, approx. โ‚ฌ 105).

Please let us know your wishes as early as possible so that we can guarantee a place (preferably with your booking). Places may also be available at short notice, but there is no guarantee.

After this exciting and varied day, we will return to our guesthouse in the evening.

Full-day activity: individually planned hike, glacier tour, kayak tour; overnight: in the guesthouse as on the previous day; (F/M); individual activities 2-6 hours, driving time 80 km/ approx. 1h

  • Day 5 Hiking On The Mountain Ridge Of Kristinartindar
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Hiking On The Mountain Ridge Of Kristinartindar

The mighty Vatnajรถkull is the largest glacier in Iceland and Europe outside the polar regions. Beneath its huge ice cap is one of Icelandโ€™s most active volcanoes, a dangerous combination as you can imagine.... In Skaftafell National Park, we will hike along the ridge of Kristinartindar today and see the impressive glacier landscape from above. The length of the hike can be decided individually, as the landscape is very clear.

Overnight stay: in a guesthouse in the Kirkjubaejarklaustur region (shared baths); (F/M/A); 4-5 h hike, 600 m elevation gain; driving time 180 km/ approx. 2.5 hours.

  • Day 6 The Colorful Mountains Of Landmannalaugar
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      The Colorful Mountains Of Landmannalaugar

Today we turn onto the F208 road into the Icelandic highlands. You can expect river crossings, huge lava fields and the Eldgiรก - the Fire Gorge. Around 950, the fissure volcano erupted so violently that it caused one of the worst natural disasters for Iceland and the whole of Europe. At 70 km long, it is the longest volcanic fissure in the world.

We wind our way further up into the highlands to Landmannalaugar, the place of the colorful mountains. The drive is exciting - depending on the water level, this is an adventurous undertaking that our driver skillfully masters with great care. Landmannalaugar is definitely worth this daring journey. A colorful mountain landscape awaits you: red, yellow, black, green, turquoise, all these shades shine out at you. We hike up Blรกfell and get a birdโ€™s eye view of the huge obsidian stream and the magnificent colors. If you donโ€™t feel like it, lie down in the warm river and enjoy nature wellness.... We continue north in the late afternoon and reach our guesthouse in the evening.

Overnight stay: in the guesthouse in the Fludir region (shared bathrooms or private shower/WC surcharge); (F/M); 3 h hike, 350 m elevation gain; 230 km/ approx. 5 h spectacular drive

  • Day 7 Hidden Highlights At The Golden Circle
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Hidden Highlights At The Golden Circle

The triangle in the southwest of Iceland is known as "the Golden Circle". The most famous highlights of Iceland, such as the Great Geyser and the mighty Gullfoss waterfall, can be found here. We approach the highlights from their hidden sides and are surprised at how magical these places are to experience. In the morning, we first drive to the hidden Haifoss and hike through this hobbit landscape. We donโ€™t want to miss out on the mighty Gullfoss either, but we watch the thundering masses of water from the left-hand side before finally arriving at the legendary Great Geyser (Strokkur). You can watch with excitement as a dome of water slowly forms over the eruption channel, which then explodes into a 25-35m high fountain. The spectacle is repeated every 10-20 minutes. Small springs bubble up from the ground and a mysterious mist wafts over the scenery. We return to our guesthouse in the late afternoon and have the opportunity to go swimming in the "Secret Lagoon", Icelandโ€™s oldest natural swimming pool (optional).

Overnight stay: as on the previous day (F/M/A); 2-3 h hike 300 m; travel time 200 km/ approx. 2.5 hrs.

  • Day 8 Waterfall Hiking In Icelandโ€™S Southwest
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Waterfall Hiking In Icelandโ€™S Southwest

Our first stop takes us to the cradle of the Icelandic state, Thingvellir National Park. Here we take a short tour on foot and visit the place where law was spoken as early as 930 and which is a mystical place for Icelanders. A wonderful drive takes us to the Glymur waterfall, the second highest waterfall in Iceland. The hike takes us through a bushy valley and the path surprises us with a rustic bridge over the river (beam with rope). Behind it, the path climbs steeply with magnificent views of the waterfall gorge. At the top, we cross the river and then descend again through meadows of grasses and wildflowers. An unusually mild and lovely landscape for Iceland.

In the late afternoon, we still have time to take a stroll through Reykjavik and enjoy a well-earned glass of "Einstรถck - Icelandic Pale Ale" before heading to our last accommodation in Keflavik near the airport.

      Overnight stay: Guest house in Keflavik; (F/M); 3 h hike 400 m, 7 km; driving time approx. 180 km/ 3 hours.

  • Day 9 Return Journey
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Return Journey

Today itโ€™s time to say goodbye, as most flights leave Keflavik early for Germany. An early group transfer will take you to the airport. We are happy to book an individual extension on request and subject to availability.
