  • Day 1 Day 1: Malmo
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 1: Malmo

Individual arrival, e.g. via Trelleborg to Malmo, the picturesque "largest small town" on the Oresund. The city center lives mainly around the "Lilla Torget" (small market square), a striking landmark of the city is the Oresund Bridge and the skyscraper "Turning Torso". The Malmohus, the oldest preserved Renaissance castle in Scandinavia (optional), is a testimony to the cityโ€™s former glory. The city also offers ideal conditions for exploring by bike thanks to its cycle paths, short distances to the individual sights and small differences in altitude. One night in Malmo.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Malmo - Blekinge Region
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 2: Malmo - Blekinge Region

Itโ€™s worth making a detour to Ystad, made famous by Henning Mankell. In the hometown of his main character Kurt Wallander, you will find proud half-timbered houses and can enjoy a "fika" (coffee break) in the cozy market square Stortorget. Continue to your next maritime overnight stop. On the way you can visit the beautiful cliffs in Kaseberga with the Viking ship settlement "Ales Stenar" (optional) or make a stop in the heath landscape and beautiful beaches in Stenshuvud National Park. 2 nights in the Blekinge region. Approx. 265 km/approx. 3.5 hours via Ystad (breakfast).

  • Day 3 Day 3: Karlskrona
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 3: Karlskrona

Swedenโ€™s only baroque town Karlskrona is built on 33 islands. The Naval Museum (admission free) provides an insight into the past of the interesting naval port, which, together with historic buildings from the 17th and 18th centuries, has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The historic fortress completes the cityscape. Karlskrona is also an ideal starting point for excursions to the south-eastern tip of Sweden. Various boat trips (optional) depart daily from the fish market (Fisketorget in Swedish), e.g. to the islands of the offshore archipelago. (Breakfast).

  • Day 4 Day 4: Karlshamn - Oskarshamn
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 4: Karlshamn - Oskarshamn

Along the picturesque coast you reach the Nordic Union City of Kalmar with Scandinaviaโ€™s largest Renaissance castle. We recommend a stop in Timmernabben, a few kilometers north of Kalmar, with a visit to the candy factory and Gabriellโ€™s ceramics. From there, a round trip to Oland, the "other Sweden", is ideal (approx. 150 km extra). Lots of sun, beautiful beaches and an unusual, almost Mediterranean-like nature characterize the island. Landmarks are the very romantic windmills. As the island is 137 km long but only 4-16 km wide, the sea breeze almost always whistles across the land. Back on the mainland, the typically small Smaland town of Oskarshamn lies charmingly on the east Swedish coast. This is the gateway to the island of Gotland, a popular vacation destination for Swedes. One night in Oskarshamn. Approx. 185 km/approx. 2.5 hours (breakfast).

  • Day 5 Day 5: Oskarshamn - Norrkoping
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 5: Oskarshamn - Norrkoping

We recommend a detour to Vimmerby today. Follow in the footsteps of the famous author Astrid Lindgren, who spent her childhood in this town with its small wooden houses, winding alleyways and cobbled streets. Visit "Astrid Lindgrenโ€™s World" (optional), where famous locations such as Villa Kunterbunt are brought back to life and the various stories are presented on stage, or learn more about the authorโ€™s life through interesting exhibitions in "Astrid Lindgrenโ€™s Nas". Continue to Soderkoping and cross the Gota Canal. Here time seems to stand still and you experience dense forests, green meadows and red and white Swedish houses in a wonderful atmosphere. Continuing along the coast, you reach Norrkoping. The square "Gamla Torget" forms the city center. Here, historic houses from the 18th and 19th centuries adorn the townscape. In addition, two parks, the art museum and small shops invite you to stroll through the town. One night in Norrkoping. Approx. 170 km/approx. 2.5 hours (breakfast).

  • Day 6 Day 6: Norrkoping - Stockholm
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 6: Norrkoping - Stockholm

As you drive through the Stockholm countryside with its numerous castles and manor houses, we recommend a detour to Nynas with its beautiful Nynas Castle. The idyllic Scharengarten around one of Swedenโ€™s most picturesque places, Trosa, is the setting for numerous scenes from Inga Lindstrom films. On the southern shore of Lake Malar lies the picturesque town of Mariefred, where Gripsholm Castle, made famous by Kurt Tucholsky, is enthroned (optional). In this picturesque town with its pretty little houses, you will find numerous small galleries, antique shops and cozy cafรฉs in the side streets. You reach the Swedish capital along Lake Malar. 2 nights in a suburb of Stockholm. Approx. 270 km/approx. 3 hours via Mariefred (breakfast).

  • Day 7 Day 7: Stockholm
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 7: Stockholm

The metropolis is located on 14 islands and is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Worth seeing are the magnificent old town Gamla Stan with the Royal Palace and its winding alleyways, Drottningholm Palace, the Stadshuset and the museum island Djurgarden with the Vasa Museum, the open-air museum Skansen and the Tivoli Grona Lund (optional, some for a fee). Promenades along Nybrokai invite you to go shopping. Stockholmers call the street Fjallgatan on the northern bank of Sodermalm the "balcony of Stockholm". In addition to a magnificent view of the city with the old town Gamla Stan, the southern part of the city is lined with brightly colored wooden houses from the 18th and 19th centuries and narrow, picturesque alleys. In the middle of the crowds, just outside Stockholmโ€™s city limits on the island of Lidingo, is the Gesamtkunstwerk by sculptor Carl Milles (1875-1955). Overlooking Stockholm, the Millesgarden is situated above the bay of Vartan and is reminiscent of an Italian Renaissance garden. (Breakfast).

  • Day 8 Day 8: Stockholm - Falun
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 8: Stockholm - Falun

One of the most important baroque museums, Skokloster Castle (free admission), with its unique paintings and sculptures, is well worth a visit in the northern outskirts of Stockholm. Continue to Uppsala, Swedenโ€™s famous and first university city. It is worth visiting the museums, galleries and theater, as well as the culturally and historically significant cathedral, the magnificent castle and the Linne Museum (optional, some for a fee). Via Sundborn, home of the famous Swedish painter Carl Larsson, you reach the mining town of Falun. The famous copper mine (optional) is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Falun is also known for its red Swedish houses, which is why the typical red color is also called "Falun red". One night in Falun. Approx. 260 km/approx. 3 hours (breakfast).

  • Day 9 Day 9: Falun - Idre
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 9: Falun - Idre

You drive along Lake Siljan through the Dalarna region, Swedenโ€™s southernmost wilderness, to Mora, the Wasalauf town on the north-western shore of Lake Siljan. The landscape is characterized by mountains, lakes and lonely forests. In the town of Nusnas, about 10 km away, the colorful painted wooden dala horses, probably Swedenโ€™s best-known souvenir, are made. Orsa is home to Europeโ€™s largest baren park, covering an area of around 80,000 square meters (optional). On a hike you can observe the baren at viewpoints. On the drive through the seven-mile forest towards the Fjall Mountains, you will cross three climate zones and reach Idre, which is located in the southernmost settlement area of the Sami reindeer herders. 2 nights in Idre. Approx. 240 km/approx. 3 hours (breakfast).

  • Day 10 Day 10: Idre
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 10: Idre

The unique Nipfjallet fjalle landscape opens up from Idre. You have the opportunity to hike to Njupeskar, Swedenโ€™s highest waterfall with a drop of around 120 meters. The Nipfjall nature reserve is home to moose, reindeer, brown bear and lynx, so with a bit of luck you may see one of the animals or their tracks. Idrefjall offers a wide range of activities, such as rafting, canoeing or cycling tours and a high ropes course (optional, some for a fee). Approx. 150 km/approx. 2 hours (breakfast).

  • Day 11 Day 11: Idre - Torsby/Sunne
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 11: Idre - Torsby/Sunne

The dayโ€™s journey offers lively and scenic contrasts in the almost uninhabited area of Femundsmarka and along the Klaralven river. For a long time, rafting was practiced on the Klaralven. Logs were thrown into the water and taken out again at the end point. Raft trips for tourists are offered as a reminder of this time (optional). At Lake Fryken, the natural wilderness is replaced by a rich cultural landscape. One night in the Torsby/Sunne area. Approx. 280 km/approx. 3.5 hours (breakfast).

  • Day 12 Day 12: Torsby/Sunne - Goteborg
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 12: Torsby/Sunne - Goteborg

In Varmland, home of the author Selma Lagerlof, including Nils Holgersson, you will find her birthplace Hof Marbacka near Sunne (optional). You will then pass Swedenโ€™s largest lake, Lake Vanern. We recommend a detour to Trollhattan, known for the striking Trollhattan waterfall, which plunges approx. 32 m into the gorge of the river Gota Alv (lock opening: May, June and September on Saturdays and July and August every day at 3 pm). 2 nights in Goteborg or in the suburb of Boras. Approx. 280 km/approx. 4 hours (breakfast).

  • Day 13 Day 13: Goteborg
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 13: Goteborg

Swedenโ€™s second-largest city has nothing to hide behind Stockholm in terms of culture and scenery. The large boulevards immediately reveal why the pearl on the Kattegat is often referred to as Little Paris. The Seafarersโ€™ Church with a wonderful view of the archipelago and the city, the lively old town and of course the market halls invite you to stroll and store. Here you can try one of the cityโ€™s culinary specialties: the crab sandwich "Rakmacka" is a Swedish classic that is available everywhere in the city. Goteborg is also the workplace of the famous detective Winter, whose books have been made into several films. (Breakfast).

  • Day 14 Day 14: Goteborg - Bastad
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 14: Goteborg - Bastad

The miles of wide, white sandy beaches begin south of Goteborg, alternating with meadows and rolling plains. Swedenโ€™s oldest town, Laholm, has an idyllic town center and is situated on a hill by the river Lagan. Narrow alleyways, around 30 sculptures, lots of flowers and small shops and cafรฉs characterize the townscape. The city park invites you to take long walks. It contains a variety of plants from the eastern USA. At the entrance is a striking old wooden house dating from the early 19th century. There are three larger towns on the Bjare Peninsula: Bastad, Torekov and Angelholm. In Sweden, Bastad is usually associated with the popular tennis week in July, which attracts many celebrities and young night owls. One night in the Laholm region.
