June Keyes Penguin Habitat โ€“ get up close to twenty Magellanic penguins, explore their habitat, and learn about their issues surviving in the wild. Check out the crawl-in space and youโ€™ll feel like youโ€™re right in the habitat with them.

Lorikeet Forest - this exhibit will transport you to Australia where youโ€™ll be surrounding by these beautiful multicolored birds. Find out more about their habitat and feeding habits in this 5,400-square-foot outdoor aviary. If youโ€™re lucky you may even get one to rest on your arm โ€“ or head.

Pleistocene Garden โ€“ this garden is a recreation of the landscape of the Los Angeles Basin 10,000 to 40,000 years ago. Using plant fossils discovered in the pits, the team created a prehistoric garden in the heart of LA.

The Fossil Lab โ€“ get up close and see how paleontologists clean, study, and prepare the fossils for exhibiting.

Expect to find work from artists such as Thomas Moran, George Oโ€™Keeffe, Luis Tapia, and more.

Imagined West Studios โ€“ this whimsical, kid-friendly movie studio space encourages visitors to act out and film their own cinematic visions of the American West using creative props and backdrops.

Human Nature โ€“ this exhibition highlights the intersections between human civilization and the natural world. Divided into four separate but interlocking categoriesโ€”Salmon, Fire, Desert, and Plantsโ€”the contents of this exhibition include multimedia displays and soundscapes, indigenous art and artifacts, and contemporary art and photography.

Outdoor Garden โ€“ linked to the Human Nature exhibit, this outdoor ethno-botanical garden (a garden that emphasizes the cultural aspects of plants) houses a variety of local plant life including a California oak tree, a waterfall, a wetlands cove, and much more. The garden also has places to sit and relax, and provides scenic photographic opportunities.

California Road Trip โ€“ providing a space for relaxation and inspiration, the California Road Trip room takes visitors to Californiaโ€™s most scenic and varied landscapes through projections of Joshua Tree, Big Sur, Mt. Whitney, and other iconic destinations.

Cowboy Gallery โ€“ this delightful exhibit traces the history of the American cowboy, including everything from a life-sized chuck wagon and cowboy paraphernalia to modern, multimedia displays and images that re-imagine the landscape from Oklahoma to California. With the grand significance that the cowboy holds in the history of the American West, itโ€™s no surprise that this exhibition is immensely popular.

Western Frontiers โ€“ subtitled โ€œStories of Fact and Fiction,โ€ this exhibition tells the story of the American West through one of its most iconic objectsโ€”the firearm. See historical antique weapons from Remington, Colt, Smith & Wesson, Winchester, and others. Individual displays highlight the significant role of firearms in the West and cover topics such as hunting, new technology, and the legacy of the West.
