      During a city tour you will get to know the "Rome of the East" - characterized by more than 30 churches and monasteries. You will experience the Gate of Dawn, Pilies Street with its picturesque old houses and St. Anne’s Church. In the afternoon you will have time to discover the city individually. (F)

      You will drive to Kaunas and visit the picturesque Old Town with its beautiful Town Hall Square and pretty old merchants’ houses. You will have lunch in a restaurant in the old town before heading to Russia.       You will experience historical monuments of the old Königsberg and sights of the modern Russian city, such as the cathedral with Kant’s tomb, the House of Councils and the Cathedral of Christ the Savior (both outside visit). At lunch, enjoy authentic Russian cuisine before exploring the Samland Peninsula, characterized by cliffs and hilly landscapes. The west coast of Samland (Amber Coast) has unique amber deposits. Here you will visit the amber quarry in Jantarnyi and walk through the beautiful resort town of Svetlogorsk with its fine sandy beach. (B/M)

      Day 5: Unesco World Natural Heritage Curonian Spit

      UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site Curonian Spit, a narrow strip of land separating the Baltic Sea from the Curonian Lagoon, will delight you today in the Russian part. During a visit to the Spit Museum and the Bird Observatory you will learn more about the history and development of the flora and fauna of this unique natural park. Impressive is the second largest dune in Europe, Epha, from which you have a fantastic view of the original landscape. Then walk through the Dancing Forest, where the pines have bizarre bent trunks, and cross the border into Lithuania. 2 nights in Nida. (F)

      In the morning you will climb the High Dune, which offers a magnificent panorama of the snow-white sand mountains. Nida is one of the most beautiful places on the Baltic Sea. The village impresses with its colorful wooden houses and the summer house of Thomas Mann, which you will visit. Enjoy the free afternoon with a bike ride or a hike in the dunes. (F)

      In the morning you will cross from the Curonian Spit to the mainland and stroll through the old town of the former fishing village Klaipda. Then you will cross the border into Latvia and visit the magnificent Rundale Castle, which is considered the largest and most beautiful castle in Latvia. High above the river rises the bishop’s castle of Turaida, from which there is a magnificent view of the picturesque valley. 2 nights in Tallinn. (B/M)

      The medieval Hanseatic city is one of the oldest cities on the Baltic Sea and will captivate you with its well-preserved cathedral, the famous town hall square and the completely preserved city wall. You can spend the afternoon as you wish and, if necessary, book a guided tour of the city’s underground bastion passages on site (the price depends on the number of participants, approx. 30 € p.p. for 8 people).       Today you will drive to the Estonian town of Narva, where you will have lunch together. Afterwards you will pass the border to Russia (longer waiting time possible) and reach the grandiose Peterhof, former summer residence of the Russian tsars. The approximately 200 water fountains and cascades in the beautiful park are impressive. 3 nights in St. Petersburg. (B/M)

      You will get to know the city situated on the Neva River under expert guidance. The Old Town (UNESCO World Heritage Site) impresses with the famous boulevard Nevsky Prospekt, the Kazan Cathedral with its 96 mighty Corinthian columns and the mighty Peter and Paul Fortress. In the afternoon, visit the magnificent Winter Palace with the most important art museum in the world, the Hermitage.
