      Today you will travel by coach from Dresden in a westerly direction via the BAB4. Along the way, your coach will make stops as required, for example in Chemnitz, Gera, Jena, Weimar, Erfurt and Eisenach. Your further journey takes you along the BAB5 via Frankfurt/Main to the Rhine-Neckar region with stops in Mannheim and Ludwigshafen, through the Palatinate to Saarbrücken. You will find detailed information on the boarding points under the heading Arrival. If you arrive directly at the hotel by car or train, you will meet your tour guide and your tour group there. We will be happy to provide you with a personalized offer tailored to your arrival with train connections or parking options on site.

      If you have a long journey, we recommend an overnight stay in a hotel before and/or after the trip.


      Your trip to France starts early in the morning. You will travel via German and French highways through Saxony, Thuringia, Hesse, Saarland and Baden-Württemberg and later through Lorraine into Champagne to your hotel in Reims. You will have dinner at your hotel on the outskirts of the city and prepare for the exciting and eventful days ahead!

      In the morning, you will explore the historic city center of Reims, the old coronation city of France. Notre-Dame Cathedral, known as the coronation site of the French kings, impresses with its Gothic architecture and ornate decorations and is one of the most beautiful churches in the country. Together with the late Gothic Palais du Tau, the former bishop’s palace and accommodation of the kings during their coronations, as well as the nearby Place Royale, it forms a unique ensemble that has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1991.


      After your visit to Reims, continue on to Paris. In the Seine metropolis, your local tour guide will welcome you for an extensive city tour, during which you will get to know the many sights of the French capital. You will then have time to explore Paris on your own before ending the evening with a meal together in a traditional restaurant. Overnight stay in a 4-star hotel in the suburbs of Paris.

      Today, your round trip will first take you to Chartres, where you will visit the famous Notre-Dame Cathedral. This Gothic masterpiece, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979, fascinates with its ornate stained glass windows and architectural splendor.

      In the early afternoon, you will reach Blois, the former residence of the French Renaissance kings. Here you will enjoy a carriage ride along the banks of the Loire and visit the Château de Blois, known for its mixture of Gothic, Renaissance and Neoclassical style elements. You will then travel to Tours, where you will check into your hotel.

      Today begins with a visit to the picturesque 16th century castle of Azay-le-Rideau, which lies on the banks of the River Indre and is one of the most beautiful Renaissance castles in the Loire Valley. You will have plenty of time to visit the richly decorated interiors with their magnificent tapestries. Just a few kilometers away, you will visit Villandry, also from the 16th century, famous for its magnificent, reconstructed Renaissance gardens. These gardens are laid out on three levels and feature water gardens, ornamental gardens and an impressive kitchen garden with creatively designed beds of different types of cabbage, beet and lettuce. In the afternoon, you will explore the historic center of Tours. On a tour with your tour guide, you will discover the pretty old town with its romantic alleyways, half-timbered houses from the 15th century and St. Gatien’s Cathedral. Tours is known as the city of the French patron saint, St. Martin.

      The morning is free for you to explore the charming town of Tours at your own pace. Visit the impressive Basilica of St. Martin, a masterpiece in neo-Romanesque-Byzantine style, or stroll through the city center with its magnificent neo-Renaissance town hall. Alternatively, you can explore the botanical gardens between the Loire and Cher rivers and enjoy the variety of plant life. After lunch, continue to Amboise. There you can either visit the imposing royal castle of Amboise (admission: approx. €13), which towers high above the Loire and was once the main residence of King Charles VIII, or the Clos Lucé manor house (admission: €19), the last residence of Leonardo da Vinci. In the cellar of the Clos Lucé you will find models of da Vinci’s ingenious inventions, which were made according to his original designs. The evening ends with an exquisite 4-course dinner at Amboise, where you can enjoy regional delicacies.

      First, you will travel to Chisseaux, a picturesque village in the Indre-et-Loire region. There you will discover the small Renaissance castle and the listed Saint Pierre church with its old Last Supper mural. You will also see the fortified mill "Moulin-Fort". In Chisseaux, you will board an excursion boat that will take you to the impressive Chenonceau moated castle on the north bank of the Cher. This castle, also known as the "ladies’ castle", is situated on a bridge-like arch construction over the river and is surrounded by beautiful gardens. You will have time to stroll through the magnificent gardens and visit the château, which has been shaped by its history with important women such as Catherine de Medici and Diane de Poitiers. In the afternoon, visit the Le Père Auguste winery in Civray-de-Touraine. There you can taste the excellent local wines and learn more about wine production in the region. After this enjoyable experience, you will return to your hotel in Tours.

      Today, your tour of France from Tours first takes you to Cheverny. Here you will see a château in the rare transitional style from Baroque to Classicism, which is unusual for the Loire region. The château impresses with its clear and uniform architecture and is known for its 100-strong pack of dogs, which are housed in the kennels near the château (admission: €14.50 per person). Continue to the imposing Château de Chambord, the largest and most magnificent château in the Loire Valley. This Renaissance hunting lodge of Francis I, begun in the 16th century, impresses with its richly decorated fireplaces, gables and towers. During a guided tour, you will discover Louis XIV’s chambers and the famous double spiral staircase. Throughout the palace you will find the symbol of the king, the salamander, and the merging "F" for François and France. Continue your journey in the afternoon and drive along the Loire towards Paris. You will spend the night in the charming little town of Fontainebleau, which lies to the south of the French capital.

      Originally built as a hunting lodge, Fontainebleau Castle (admission: approx. €14) was extended and embellished by the French kings over the centuries. Under Francis I and Henry II in particular, the original 13th century castle was transformed into a magnificent palace, which is considered to be the first complete Renaissance building in France. Fontainebleau was an important royal residence, especially during the summer months under Louis XIV, and played an important role in French and European history. A striking feature of the castle is the characteristic horseshoe staircase, from which Napoleon bade farewell to his guard after his abdication on April 20, 1814. During your visit, you will explore the magnificent royal apartments and the extensive gardens, which are perfect for a stroll. In the afternoon, you will travel on to Metz, a charming city on the Moselle. The impressive Saint-Etienne Cathedral and many historic buildings and bridges in the old town are beautifully illuminated in the evening, earning Metz the nickname "City of Light". You will spend the night in Metz.

      On your return journey today, you have the first scheduled opportunity to get off at the Goldene Bremm service area on the BAB6, directly on the French border. The rest of your journey takes you along the Palatinate Forest to Mannheim and Frankfurt/Main. You will pass through the Vogelsberg volcanic region and finally return to Dresden via Erfurt, Gera and Chemnitz (you will find all exit options, which can be accessed if required, under the menu item "Arrival"). If you have traveled by car or train, say goodbye to the tour group at the hotel and start your journey home individually (we will be happy to send you the relevant information).


      Your coach trip comes to an end: after breakfast, you will travel back home from France past Saarbrücken. With the incredibly diverse impressions of this cultural trip to the heart of France and the splendor of its former rulers in your luggage, you will drive back to your starting points via German freeways.
