And the route is a real highlight: youโ€™ll be whizzing along the coast of the Gulf of Finland with its countless skerries. No matter how beautiful you imagined your first stage to be, the reality is even more beautiful. A stop in the enchanting old town of Porvoo with its countless red wooden houses? A must before you continue your journey. Once you arrive in Kotka, the next highlight awaits you: your accommodation right by the sea, which sparkles in the light of the setting sun. So: put your feet up and toast to a wonderful journey!

Once again you let your gaze wander over the sea, which sparkles like diamonds in the morning sun, then you hop into your rental car full of anticipation for the day. Where are you going? To Savonlinna! And the drive is a highlight in itself: nature seems close enough to touch when you look out of the window! The deep blue lakes tell you that youโ€™re almost there.
All the dayโ€™s adventures are still running through your head in your new accommodation as you slowly drift off to sleep.

Day 3: Savonlinna: History Vibes &Amp; Outdoor Adventures

So, have you found your favorite spot in the middle of the island labyrinth yet? The sheer endless expanses of Lakeland invite you to explore by land and sea. The best starting point for your nature adventure is Olavinlinna Castle, which is located on one of the lakeโ€™s many small islands. How about a lake cruise (optional, payable locally) to discover all the highlights of Saimaa? Be sure to look out for the rare ringed seals. The best chance of doing so is in Linnansaari National Park - the ideal starting point for outdoor fans and wildlife spotters! With a bit of luck, you might spot a moose or two. Only now will you realize how huge these animals can get. On your foray, you will pass lush bushes laden with delicious berries. Thanks to everymanโ€™s right, a handful of fruit serves as a welcome midday snack.
  • Day 4 Day 4: Joensuu: The Taste Of North Karelia
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 4: Joensuu: The Taste Of North Karelia

Savolinna has taken your outdoor heart by storm and you would love to stay longer, but the next stop on your trip beckons with an incredibly good food scene! Take the wheel and step on the gas - youโ€™re off to Joensuu, the capital of North Karelia.
Arriving hungry? Perfect! Located so close to the water in the Saimaa Lake District, fish is of course THE specialty of the region. What you canโ€™t miss: the so-called "Muikku", small vendace - fried, smoked or as a soup. Fish is not your thing? Then be sure to try the Karelian pierogi. Now that youโ€™ve ticked Finnish specialties off your bucket list, itโ€™s time for another item - sauna! So pack your swimsuit and head to the Joensuun Jรครคkarhut (optional, payable on site). Itโ€™s a wonderful place to relax and unwind in the Finnish way. Are you traveling in winter? All the better! A sauna session is twice as good in frosty sub-zero temperatures! And if you dare, you can dive into the ice hole for the ultimate adrenaline rush!
  • Day 5 Day 5: Koli National Park: Outdoor Adventures Ahead!
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 5: Koli National Park: Outdoor Adventures Ahead!

Good news: you donโ€™t have to miss out on outdoor action in Joensuu! Koli National Park is waiting to be discovered by you. Itโ€™s not without reason that the national park is one of the most popular excursion destinations in Finland. So: put on your hiking boots and off you go! Where are the best hiking trails? You can find out at the visitor center. But what you definitely shouldnโ€™t miss: the view from the 347-metre-high rocky peak Ukko-Koli! On a clear day, you can see far beyond the countryโ€™s borders. Are you out and about in summer and want to finally conquer the cool water that has been surrounding you for days now? Then hire a paddleboard from Arctic Trainers in Joensuu and try this trendy sport on the Pielisjoki (optional, payable locally)! The national park is also a hotspot for outdoor adventures in winter: cross-country skiing and sled dog safaris are on the agenda during the cold season (optional, payable locally).
  • Day 6 Day 6: Jyvรคskylรค: Between 5000 Moose &Amp; 30,000 Saunas
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 6: Jyvรคskylรค: Between 5000 Moose &Amp; 30,000 Saunas

You are already leaving the Saimaa lake area behind you again today. But the water fun doesnโ€™t end here! Your route takes you west, to Jyvรคskylรค to be precise. The city lies right in the heart of Finland, on the shores of Lake Pรคijรคnne.
And - who would have thought it - Jyvรคskylรค also offers natural magic as far as the eye can see! In the regionโ€™s many national parks, you can let off steam again. By the way: more than 5,000 moose live in the area! So keep your eyes peeled - maybe youโ€™ll spot one? But Jyvรคskylรค is famous for something else: its saunas - 30,000 of them! Even by Finnish standards, the sauna culture here is record-breaking. How about a visit to the sauna village of Saunakylรค? Take a seat in one of the oldest saunas in the world and experience a journey into the centuries-old history of the sauna (optional, payable locally). In Jyvรคskylรค, however, something else attracts attention: the Harju ridge with its Vesilinna lookout tower. No matter where you are in Jyvรคskylรค, you will always have the mountain in view. The "Harju Stairs" take you up to the summit and from the observation tower you have a wonderful view of the hustle and bustle of the city.

Day 7: Hey, Helsinki: City Strolls The Finnish Way

Back to the beginning! You take the wheel and step on the gas pedal, because the Finnish capital is calling for adventure. You can hardly wait to explore Helsinkiโ€™s enchanting streets!
As soon as youโ€™ve put your suitcases down, youโ€™re ready for a city adventure. Must see: Senate Square and the cathedral, which towers majestically over the city. You are impressed by the large dome and the snow-white columns. No less impressive: the Uspenski Cathedral. Be sure to take a look inside, as the elaborate ceiling paintings are sure to impress! And then? Treat yourself to a break in Helsinkiโ€™s green oasis Esplandi or end the day with a drink in the Design District.
Seen enough? If youโ€™re traveling in summer, another highlight awaits you: youโ€™ll be staying in a Tree Tent! Either in the beautiful Nuuksio National Park or on the island of Vallisaari off Helsinki - definitely in the middle of nature! Are the temperatures around you below zero? Then look forward to your soft bed in your cozy city accommodation.

Day 8: Time To Say Goodbye: Goodbye, Finland!

How time flies - today marks the last day of your adventure and you say goodbye to beautiful Helsinki. If you still have some time, take a walk to the Sibelius Monument. In the park of the same name, hundreds of steel pipes float in the air and reach up into the sky - what a sight! Afterwards, take a cab (optional, payable locally) to the airport and board the plane that will take you back home. Your head is buzzing with the impressions of the last few days and you know that this wonโ€™t be your last visit.
