The glacier lake has been carved 2,034 metres (6,673 feet) up into the rugged stones of the Fฤgฤraศ Mountains, named the โTransylvanian Alpsโ by the French geographer Emmanuel de Martonne.ย Geographically, Bรขlea Lake came to be when a glacier eroded the mountains and then melted. Historically, there is a legend related to the lakeโs name, whose main character is the young shepherd Balea.

Bรขlea waterfall is situated on the northern side of the Fฤgฤrฤลan alps, close to the transfฤgฤrฤลan road at 1234 meters altitude. No tourist tracks approach it; the waterfall can be admired from a distance. Nonetheless, many tourists are drawn by the sound of the crashing water. Its true size can only be seen from the cable car. The water of lake Bรขlea hurtles down 60 meters, turns into smaller waterfalls and continues its way.
