Itinerary of your trip The Best Beaches In Myanmar (Burma) - Dawei And Its Peninsul

  • Day 1 Day 1: City Tour Of Dawei
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 1: City Tour Of Dawei

After pick up from the airport and hotel check in we will have a look around to get a picture of Daweiโ€™s daily life and famous sights.  Dawei is the capital of Tanintharyi division in the south of the Myanmar, formerly known as Tavoy. Dawei was one of the first cities, where the English settled after the 1st Anglo-Burmese in 1826. As a result the town has a long lasting history and picturesque buildings from the colonial times.

On our tour we will have a little excurse in traditional Southern Myanmar medicine. A family owned cashew nut business with its ever smiling workers will show us how much work it is to peel one nut. We will stop by at old colonial buildings and get to know what their purpose was.  The day tour is also about getting in touch with locals. Stop wherever you want and ask whatever you like to know. During our trip we will have a taste of the regional cuisine.

We are going to visit the Tanintharyi Regional Museum which a collection of bronze coins, vaseโ€™s, portraits and large wooden ancient Buddha images. Furthermore the history about Moken (Sea Gypsy People) is shown with sculptures and stunning pictures.

We finish the day with a stroll at Daweiโ€™s river front, where we can watch how the locals end the day.  Lunch and Dinner are to your own account.

Pick up from your hotel in Dawei (7:00 AM) and transfer to San Hlan Fishing Village. While we load the boat you have some time to look around a traditional fishing village. The kids are always curios to meet you. Have you ask yourself where all the ice comes from, check out the ice factory at the end of the village.

Afterwards we will cruise towards Loung Lone Bok Island. Along the way we pass Passion Island and Tizit Beach. Enjoy the scenery and the fresh breeze on the way. We serve a traditional snack breakfast for you on the boat.  After about 1.5 hours cruise along pristine waters we reach our first snorkeling spot. Hope in to the water and play with nemo and other colorful fish. Another 30 minutes later you will be on the beach. There is a remote beach with shady trees.  While we prepare fresh BBQ Lunch for you, enjoy the time and go for another swim or snorkel. After lunch we will drive to another pristine snorkelling site with more hard and soft corals. You can spot nemo house as well as other colourful fishes.  We leave Loung Lone Bok Island behind us and cruise back to San Lan Village. Transfer back to Dawei.

Please note: This is a soft adventure trip and we do recommend an average level of fitness.

      Day 3: Amazing Dawei Peninsula

If you like we can skip the hotel breakfast to get an early start and have some delicious breakfast at the local market. We will drive pass rice fields and rural villages until we arrive at a typical fishing village.   We stop every now and then to explain the local agriculture for example rubber and cashew nut plantations (seasonal). The fishing industry is another main income source. Among fresh fish the fishing villages produce dry fish and fish paste (nga pyi, seasonal). The paste for Western tongues is most likely nothing to be fancy with, but for Asian people it is mouth-watering.

We arrive in Kyauk Wap Pyin Village, from where we take a 35 min stroll up the mountain to Dawei Peninsulaโ€™s own Golden Rock Pagoda. Enjoy a breathtaking 360 Degree panoramic view to on Dawei River and Grandfathers Beach.  After arrival in an even smaller village, where kids will come to watch the Engelae, which simple means English from colonial times we either proceed to Grand Father Beach. The most stunning beach of the peninsula. All over it is a 4km long stretch of pure white sand. For those who want to see the vastness you can rent a motor taxi driver (on your own account).

Lunch along the way in a traditional and clean restaurant.  In the afternoon we drop you at your beach accommodation.   Dinner is to your own account.
