  • Day 1 Burlington
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Burlington

      Drive Time: 60 minutes / 20 minutes

      Hiking Mileage: 5.9 miles

      Elevation Gain/Loss: 1,530 ft


      The first morning, your guide will pick you and the rest of the group up in Burlington, Vermont and we will head to Smugglersโ€™ Notch in Vermontโ€™s famous Green Mountains. Today we hike through birch forests, up rocky steps and along gorgeous mountain trails to the peaks of two of Vermontโ€™s highest ski mountains, enjoying a stop at an idyllic mountain pond along the way. We will soak up views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, which extend across to Vermontโ€™s tallest peak. Our views are a foreshadowing of our week, as we will summit some of these peaks later in the coming days. Your guide will prepare a delicious trail lunch at one of the vistas along the way, and we will eventually descend back to the van and head to our Inn at Stowe, VT. After cleaning up, weโ€™ll reconvene for our first dinner at a hand-picked restaurant in Stowe.

  • Day 2 Stowe

      Elevation Gain/Loss: 1,700 ft

      After a tasty breakfast, we will head to Vermontโ€™s Northeast Kingdom and hike near Lake Willoughby, the second deepest lake in Vermont. We will hike through deciduous forest to rocky outlooks and enjoy lunch at one of the many overlooks. From our viewpoints we will see the surrounding farmland and forest and across the lake to the scenic bluffs that drop down to the Willoughby lakeshore. After returning from the hike we will get some time to walk around and explore the iconic downtown of Stowe, VT, before we meet for another delicious Northeast dinner.



  • Day 3 Mount Mansfield

      Drive Time: 45 minutes

      Hiking Mileage: 7.2 miles

      Elevation Gain/Loss: 2,550 ft

      We will fuel up this morning, and then head out on our toughest hike of the week, climbing to the summit of Mount Mansfield! We will ascend Vermontโ€™s highest peak, 4,395 ft, and will enjoy over a mile of hiking with panoramic views stretching from New Hampshireโ€™s White Mountains to New Yorkโ€™s Adirondacks. Here above the tree line we will enjoy a tasty lunch prepared by your guide before descending on a rocky ridge offering unparalleled views of the local mountain range.

  • Day 4 Stowe

      Drive Time: 20 minutes / 20 minutes

      Hiking Mileage: 4.2 miles

      Elevation Gain/Loss: 1,220 ft

      Today we will enjoy a little bit later start to help us recover from yesterdayโ€™s peak ascent. After breakfast we will head to a local state park to hike to a spectacular view from the mountain summitโ€™s fire tower. Our trail begins in beech and maple forest and winds its way to a rocky bench where we will stop to enjoy the mountain and valley views before continuing to the summit and climbing the fire tower above the treetops. After the fire tower, weโ€™ll continue the loop, descending back to our starting point and stopping at the state parkโ€™s lake to swim (if weather permits) and relax before heading back to Stowe for another relaxing evening and delicious dinner.

  • Day 5 Burlington

      Drive Time: 55 minutes / 75 minutes

      Hiking Mileage: 3.5 miles

      Elevation Gain/Loss: 1,630 ft

      We will pack up this morning and say goodbye to our Stowe Inn, then set out on the last hike of our trip. We will head north to Jay Peak and will hike on the Long Trail, Vermontโ€™s long-distance hiking trail, to the summit of the mountain and ski area. We will have views into Canada and the Northeast Kingdom from the apex. After enjoying our last summit together we will hike back to the vehicle and the guide will drop guests off in Burlington. What a week itโ€™s been!
