Guide

English speaking guide with national license: at disposal for the whole trip, from D2 to D7. Local guides are not used for sightseeing tours, local tours will be provided by the permanent guide.

      Breakfast at hotel. Morning departure to Sighisoara (UNESCO), free time for lunch in Sighisoara and walking tour in the citadel. Located in Mures County, in the valley of Tarnava Mare river, Sighisoara, a former Dacian settlement called โ€žthe pearl of Transylvaniaโ€œ, was founded by the German craftsmen and merchants known as Saxons, in the second half of the 12th century. The Medieval Fortress, located โ€žhigh up on a hillโ€œ, is surrounded by a strong wall reinforced with fourteen defense towers maintained by the local guilds. We will see the most important attractions: the Clock Tower, the house where Vlad the Impaler (Dracula) was born, we will climb the covered stairs to see Church on the Hill and enjoy the narrow streets of the old citadel. In the afternoon departure to Targu Mures, known as "The City of Roses". Dinner under own arrangement and overnight at a 4* hotel in Targu Mures.

      Breakfast at hotel. Walking city tour of Targu Mures where you can see the highlights of the town, such as: Town Hall, Medieval Fortress, Apollo Palace and the Palace of Culture. Departure to Turda, short visit to the historical center of Turda, then you can subscribe for an optional visit of Turda salt mine, a true museum of the history and the exploitation of salt. It is one of the most impressive salt 

      mines in Europe with a history going back to Roman Empire time. The magical atmosphere, inspired both by the salt stalactites hanging on the walls and by multiple hanging light sources, fascinates visitors and offers a spectacular underground area. Continue to Cluj Napoca, one of the most beautiful cities in Transylvania. Free time for lunch. Walking tour in Cluj, where we will admire the Union Square (the main square with its Baroque, Gothic, Renaissance and neoclassical buildings), the equestrian statue of Matthias Corvin (King of Hungary born in Transylvania), view of his house, see the Gothic Saint Michaelโ€™s Church (still under restauration works), the Opera Square with Austrian period buildings, the Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral and the Banffy Palace. In the afternoon return to Targu Mures. Dinner under own arrangement and overnight at your hotel in Targu Mures.

      Breakfast at hotel then departure to Brasov. We will stop on our way in the village of Darjiu to visit the fortress church, built in 1270 in the Romanic architectural style, UNESCO World Heritage site. Then we will continue to Prejmer to visit the fortress church, also part of the UNESCO World Heritage sites, the best preserved and most powerful of the fortress churches in Eastern Europe. The fortification, built on a circular plan, includes walls whose thickness reaches 3 to 4 meters and whose height reaches 12 meters. Arrival in Brasov and free time for lunch. In the afternoon, visit of the old city centre of Brasov, considered to be the southern gate of Transylvania. During the city tour, we see the old fortifications, the White Tower and the Black Tower (15th century), the Synagogue, the Weaversโ€™ Bastion (16th century), the Council Square, Catherineโ€™s Gate (1559) which has kept the old emblem of the city, the Black Church (the largest church between Istanbul and Vienna, built between 1384 and 1477 inside which we can especially notice the great organ, among the largest Europe, and the baptismal font in the pure Transylvanian style as well as the collection of ancient Anatolian carpets). Dinner under own arrangement and overnight at a 4* hotel in Brasov.

      Breakfast at hotel. Departure to Bran, to visit the famous medieval castle built on the site of a stronghold dating from 1212 by the Teutonic Knights. Bran castle was first mentioned in a document issued on November 19, 1377, giving the Saxons of Kronstadt (Brasov) the privilege to build the citadel. The fortress, worldwide known as Draculaโ€™s Castle, due to the American movie directors, served as royal residence from 1920 to 1948, a gift of the people of Brasov to Queen Mary of Romania. The castle is now a museum open to tourists, displaying art and furniture collected by Queen Mary.

      Road to Sinaia, also called the "Pearl of the Carpathians" located in the Prahova Valley, 50 km from Brasov. Visit of the famous Peles Castle, former summer residence of the Royal family, one of the most beautiful castles in Europe, which today houses a collection of weapons and armors unique in its richness and diversity. Free time for lunch in Sinaia, then return to Brasov. Dinner under own arrangement and overnight at hotel. 


  • Day 6 Day 6: Brasov- Sibiu- Bucharest. 420 Km

      Breakfast at hotel. Morning departure to Sibiu, one of the oldest towns in Transylvania founded by the Saxon colonists (formerly Hermannstadt), European Cultural Capital of culture in 2007. Cradle of Saxon civilization, Sibiu has preserved its medieval architecture, its fortifications and its exceptional heritage, unique in Romania. Walk through the medieval town where we will see the remains of the city walls (the largest in Transylvania), the Great Square, the Small Square, the Bridge of Lies, the Catholic cathedral and the Evangelical Church, Huet Square. Free time for lunch then departure to Bucharest, crossing the Carpathian Mountains through the Olt river valley. On the way, if time allows, stop to visit Cozia Monastery, built at the end of XIVth century in a picturesque setting on the banks of Olt river. Arrival in Bucharest, dinner under own arrangement and overnight at a 4* hotel.

      Breakfast at hotel. We will start the city tour with a visit of the Village Museum, located in the northern district of the capital. It is the largest open-air ethnographic museum in Europe, established in 1936. Comprising around ten farms, churches, mills, houses, carved portals, it represents the different regional styles of rural housing. We return to the city centre next to the Press House and the Arch of Triumph, we continue along the impressive boulevards Kiseleff & Victoriei. Walking tour in the old city center. Bucharest has always been a city of transit and bazaar, a crossroads between East and West: thus, around the princely court - the Curtea Veche - founded in the 15th century, intense activity animated the surrounding districts of Lipscani and Gabroveni, where you can admire beautiful XIXth century residences, decorated with iron balconies. Free time for lunch and free afternoon for a personal discovery of the city. Optional visit to the Palace of the Parliament (subject to confirmation), built between 1984 and 1989, the largest administrative building in Europe and the second largest in the world after the Pentagon. The interior decoration, made of marble, wood carved in rare essences and bronze is unique in the world. Farewell dinner in a typical restaurant. Overnight at hotel.
