Day 1: Travel to Murchison Falls National Park โ€“ enroute at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Stop At: Rhino Fund Uganda ( Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary), Gulu Highway Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Nakitoma Uganda
Your Murchison Falls โ€“ Queen Elizabeth National parks drive through safari will begin with a guide picking you from Kampala at 8:00 am. After a briefing on how your safari tour will go, you will set off for Murchison Falls National Park in a 4ร—4 wheel drive vehicle. As you drive toward the North-western Uganda where the park is situated, you will pass through the infamous Luweero triangle โ€“ renowned for the 1981 โ€“ 1985 brutal massacres.

You will make your first stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary โ€“ the only place in Uganda where rhinos can be encountered in their natural habitat. With the aid of park rangers, you will embark on a rhino tracking excursion for an hour or two before continuing with your journey to Murchison Falls. Your next stop will be in Masindi town where you will have your lunch. You will arrive at Murchison Falls National Park in the evening.

Day 2: Game drive in the park โ€“ boat cruise on the Victoria Nile

Stop At: Murchison Falls National Park, Murchison Falls National Park, Western Region
Your second day of your drive through safari in Murchison Fallswill begin with a game drive at 6:30 am, after having your breakfast. Depending on the location of your lodging, you will embark on a game drive in one of the parkโ€™s famous game viewing tracks; the Albert track, Buligi track or the Victoria track. Also, the area around Nyamsika gorge and its cliffs has a high concentration of game. You will see various animals including four of the big fives; lions, elephants, leopards, and the cape buffaloes. A game drive in Murchison falls is also your chance to spot; the Uganda kobs, Jacksonโ€™s hartebeest, oribis, grey duikers, bush bucks, among other wildlife that make their live in the park.

After having lunch, you will head out for a boat cruise on the Victoria Nile. The sight and sound of the gushing and rushing waterfalls is soothing and breath-taking. As you sail upstream to the bottom of the falls, you will spot herds of hippos and crocodiles along the river banks. The boat cruise is also the ideal adventure for the avid birder. The area around the Nile and the Murchison falls is a habitat to the shoe bill stork, bee-eater, pelican, Egyptian geese, goliath heron, horn bill, kingfisher, saddle-bill stork, among other bird species. Murchison Falls National Park is natureโ€™s hub; you will enjoy the sights and sounds of the abundant wildlife before retiring to your accommodation for dinner and overnight. This will mark the end of the second day of your drive through safari.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park โ€“ game drive in the park

Stop At: Queen Elizabeth National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Western Region
After having breakfast, you will embark on a transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will continue with your drive through safari tour. You will enjoy the splendid countryside beauty; the rugged hills, vast plantations, and occasional sightings of herdsmen grazing their long-horned cattle. You will arrive at Ugandaโ€™s prized Queen Elizabeth National Park in the mid-morning or early afternoon.

Before checking in at your lodge, you will embark on your first game drive โ€“ along the channel drive circuit, following the Northern shore of the Kazinga channel. This section of the park is one of the few places in Africa where the rare giant forest hog, among other mammals is frequently sighted. The third day of your drive through safari tour will end when you choose to retire to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Game drive in Kasenyi plains โ€“ game drive in Ishasha region

Stop At: Queen Elizabeth National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Western Region
Your drive through safari excursion will continue with a game drive at 6:30 am after an early breakfast. You will head out to the renowned Kasenyi plains with an experienced game ranger. The plains are a mass of African savanna known for harboring the largest concentration of game as compared to any other section in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Besides being a habitat to big game and predators, the plains harbor various species of wetland birds.

You will head back to your lodge in the early afternoon to have lunch and a brief rest before continuing with your drive through safari โ€“ embarking on another game drive in Ishasha region, though its well-maintained tracks. Ishasha is notably famous for its resident tree-climbing lions. As you drive through the tracks, you will see them nestled in the tree branches.

You will also spot a variety of other wildlife; the Uganda kobs grazing in the plains, huge herds of buffaloes, numerous antelopes, elephants and hippos. Ishasha region is the epic reflection of wild beauty. From Ishasha, you will drive on to Mweya pennisula โ€“ the heart of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 5: Drive to the Katwe Lakes region โ€“ return to Kampala

Stop At: Kampala, Kampala, Central Region
On the last day of your Murchison Falls โ€“ Queen Elizabeth drive through safari, you will have breakfast and then head out for your last excursion. You will drive to the Katwe crater lakes region โ€“ a cluster of 10 lakes formed from extinct volcanoes. The Katwe Crater Lake, one of the lakes is not only one of Ugandaโ€™s largest salt mines, but it is also a habitat to many mammals and wildlife, found especially at the baboon cliff. The crater lakes region also offers a splendid view across Queen Elizabeth National Park.

After the excursion, you will embark on your journey back to Kampala, arriving in late evening. Your driver โ€“ guide will drop you at a desire location or take you to the airport if you have a plane to catch. This will mark the end of your 5 days Murchison Falls National Park โ€“ Queen Elizabeth NP drive through safari expedition.
