Day 1: Arrival and local Sightseeing
Stop At: Shanti Stupa Road 500 steps from Changspa Road, Leh 194101 India
Shanti Stupa is a Japanese peace Pagoda built in the 1990s and it holds the relics of the Lord Buddha. It sits atop a small hill in the Changspa area in Leh town providing a panoramic view of the town and its outskirts.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Leh Royal Palace, Leh India
Leh Palace or Lehchen sPalkhar is a nine storied former Royal Palace of the Royal family of Ladakh. It was built in the 1600s by the Loin King of Ladakh - Singee Namgyal and continued to be the royal residence of the Royal family of Ladakh till 1830s when Dogra forces took control and forced the Royal Family to shift to Stok Palace.
The Palace houses a Shrines, Museum with paintings etc. and overlooks the Leh Bazaar and provides stunning views of the surrounding areas and Stok kangri in the south.

Stop At: Leh Market, Main Bazaar Rd, Leh 194101 India
Leh market or Leh Bazaar is the biggest and busiest market in the region. The basic structure of the market itself is still the same as in the early 1900s when it used to be a hub for traders from Tibet, Kashmir, Xinjiang and other parts of Central Asia.
The market area is Padestrain only and has a number of restaurants, Cafes, Shops, outdoor outlets.

Day 2: Leh to Lamayuru via Sham Valley
Stop At: Lamayuru, Lamayuru, Leh District, Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir
After breakfast at the hotel in the morning, we will start driving to Lamayuru, also know as the Moonland due to its landscape. Lamayuru is also the home for the oldest monastery of Ladakh, perched atop a unique hill, it is one of the most important monuments in the region. Along the way, we will visit several sightseeing places like Hall of Fame museum, which was built in the name those martyrs passed away in Kargil war, and also visit Magnetic hill and Sangam, (Confluence of Zanskar & Indus River).

Pass By: Magnetic Hill, Leh-Kargil-Srinagar national highway, Leh 194101 India
Magnetic hill, a place about 30km aside the Highway is claimed to pull vehicles uphill due to the Magnetic properties of the nearby hill. Although the claim is contested, it is one of the most popular halting points on the Leh-Srinagar Highway.
Whether it is the Magnetic pull or its the Gravity and optical illusion, you can find it by yourself.
Pass By: Confluence of the Indus and Zanskar Rivers, Leh India
At a distance of about 40km from Leh, Sangam - Hindi world for confluence is the point where the Zanskar river and Indus river meet. Zanskar river originated from the glaciers of Zanskar valley is itself a major tributary to the Indus river.
The distinct colours (turquoise blue and emerald green) of the river due to the difference in density creates an extremely pleasant sight making it one of the most photographed places in Ladakh.
Stop At: Lamayuru Monastery (Yuru Gompa), Srinagar-Kargil-Leh Road, Lamayuru 194106 India
Lamayuru monastery is built atop a unique hill in Lamayuru village 126km west of Leh along the Leh-Srinagar Highway. The village is known for its unique landscape or moonscape and the monastery.
The monastery founded in the 11th century is one the main monastery of the Drikung Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism in Ladakh. The monastery, although came under numerous attacks from invaders in the past still has numerous shrines, thankas and scriptures and also celebrate an annual religious festival called Yuru Kabgyat. The festival lasts for two days, during which sacred rituals and mask dance are performed.

Day 3: Lamayuru to Leh
Pass By: Lamayuru, Lamayuru, Leh District, Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir
In the morning, visit the Lamayuru monastery, which is built atop a unique hill in Lamayuru village. Lamayuru monastery is one of the oldest monastery and still looked after by Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. Later we will retrace the same route along the Srinagar-Leh Highway towards Leh. Along the way, we will divert towards Alchi village across the Indus river and visit the Alchi monastery, known for the paintings and thankas dating back to the Kushan period. We will also visit the LIkir Monastery along the way and also visit the Basgo castle, which was once the capital of lower Ladakh. Later we will drive back to Leh by evening.
Stop At: Alchi Monastery, Alchi 194106 India
Alchi Choskor - the monastic complex of Alchi is one of the most important monasteries in Ladakh. Itโs history dates back to the 10th century when the great translator Lotsawa Rinchen Zangpo founded the monastery at the same site. The whole complex is built on lower ground, unlike most monasteries that are perched atop a hill.
The monastery has comprises of three main parts, the Sumtseg, Jamphel Lhakhang, and Dukhang apart from numerous stupas and shrines. The building architecture has Kashmiri influence and has paintings dating back to the Kushan period.

Stop At: Likir Monastery, Likir, Leh 194101 India
Likir monastery or Lu-Khil Gonpa is located 53 Km west of Leh in the beautiful Sham valley, We have to follow the Leh-Srinagar Highway for some time and divert right to follow a link road to the village. Founded by Lama Duwang Chosjey in the 11th century, the monastery today is one of the main monasteries of the Gelugpa school of Tibetan Buddhism and also celebrates the annual monastic festival โLikir Dosmocheyโ.
Apart from the Numerous shrines, prayer halls, wall paintings, Thanka, there is a big (75ft) Maitreya Buddha statue on the top on the Payer Hall.

Stop At: Basgo Monastry, Leh India
Once the capital of the kingdom of Ladakh and the royal residence of the longs, whose descendants were to become the Namgyal Dynasty of the united Ladakh, the Palace reflects the glorious past and the heritage of the Kingdom. Built on the top of a high clay hill, the palace can be clearly seen while travelling through the main road.
The Palace/Monastery is recognized as one of the hundred heritage endangered sites of the world in 2001 and since been looked after by the local villages, government agencies and NGOs. The Palace comprises of three main temples, the Chamba Lhakhang, Serzang Lhakhang and the Chamchung temple. The palace is noted for its exquisite murals from the 16th century, the Maitreya Buddha statue, portrait of the Kings and the Buddhist manuscript written in gold, silver and copper letters.

Day 4: Drive from Leh to Nubra Valley
Pass By: Nubra Valley, 194101 India
Today we will drive northward from Leh to Nubra valley, which is considered one of the most scenic valleys in the entire trans-Himalayan region. The valley boasts a unique landscape with sand dunes, lush green oasis and snow peaks, along with beautiful monasteries and villages. We will be crossing the Khardungla pass (18,380ft), considered the Highest all weather motorable pass in the world. The Pass has become a dream destination for bikers and adventurous souls from all across the world, we can click some photos, grab a hot tea from the cafeteria and start driving towards Nubra valley. We will drive past the North Pullu check post, and through the narrow roads and blind curves to reach Diskit in the afternoon. We will visit the Diskit monastery, and the Maitreya Buddha statue which ideally sits atop a small hill overlooking the valley, the view from there is incredible.
Further, we will drive to the Hunder Sand dunes, which is among the most visited place in Ladakh and also enjoy the camel ride. Nubra is the only place in India where these camels exist.
Stop At: Khardung La Road, 194101 India
Khardong-La or Khardung Pass is a high altitude pass on the way to Nubra valley. At an elevation of 5602m above sea level, it was once the highest motorable pass in the world and is still considered the highest all-weather road. There is a police check post, few kilometres on each side of the summit (called South Pullu and North Pullu) where visitors need to show their Inner line permits.
The weather while ascending can vary abruptly due to the elevation (it is not uncommon to snow even in summer months) and one needs to carry (prepare) with warm clothes, first aid and Oxygen cylinder.
As the Khardung-la has itself become a major tourist attraction, many visitors tend to stay at the summit for long risking altitude sickness. Itโs advisable to not stay there for long.

Stop At: Diskit Gompa, Diskit 194401 India
Diskit monastery is the biggest and considered the oldest monastery in the Nubra Valley. Built on a hill much higher above the Shayok flood plains, it was founded in the 14th century by Lama Sherap Zangpo, during the reign of King Dragspa.
The monastery has several shrines, deities and murals, it also is said to have important Mongolian and Tibetan text in-store. The monastery is also connected to Mongol mythology.
The main point of interest is the huge 32-meter tall statue of the Maitreya Buddha statue on top of a hill below the monastery. The statue is facing towards the border and believed to prevent any war in the future. Both the Monastery and Statue site provides a panoramic view of the Shayok flood plain and surrounding areas.

Stop At: Hunder Sand Dunes, Hunder 194401 India
Hunder is a beautiful village in Nubra valley amidst green willow trees and tall poplar trees, the village is few kilometres from the administrative headquarter - Diskit. The key attraction in the valley is the white Sand dunes located in between the Diskit and Hunder village. The Dunes are not as big but having sand dunes at this place with snow peak in the background is itself a very unique thing - making it the key attraction.
The Sand dunes also have many double-humped Bactrian camels, mostly offering rides to visitors. The camels are said to be offsprings of mostly injured camels and many left by traders from central Asian countries after the closure of trade routes. They also reflect the glorious days of the silk route, of which Nubra valley was an important part.

Day 5: Turtuk Day tour
Stop At: Turtuk, Turtuk, Leh District, Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir
Turtuk is the last destination for visitors on the Indian side of Ladakh and known for being one of the only villages with authentic Balti people. The village can be considered a mini Baltistan in India, not only for the ethnic Balti peoples, their culture and heritage but also because it was part of it till recently. The village and few of adjoining villages were administered by Pakistan till 1971 when India regained it.
The village is at a lower altitude and grows many crops, vegetables apart from some delicious fruits.

Day 6: Nubra - Pangong Tso (4350m) via Shayok
Pass By: Nubra Valley, Nubra Valley, Leh District, Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir
Today we will drive to the world-famous Pangong lake, probably the most famous attraction of Ladakh. It is the largest brackish lake in Asia and the largest overall at this altitude. The road from Nubra to Shayok is very less taken but has to be one of the most scenic trails for motorbiking. There will be some water crossings and offroad stretches which will make it more adventurous and fun.
Once reaching Pangong, we will further drive along the length of the lake towards the Merak, which is ideally the last point up to which a foreigner can go. We will stay at Merak overlooking the Pangong lake.
Stop At: Pangong Tso, Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, India; Ladakh, , India;, Leh 194101 India
Pangong Tso is a high altitude border lake in the Changthang region (eastern Ladakh) in Ladakh. The lake is one of the most visited places in Ladakh and not without reason, the varying colours and the magnitude of the lake, along with the snow-covered peaks in the backdrop and the small beautiful villages along the length of the lake is truly a sight to behold.
The lake is alkaline and supports no marine life, While 30% of the lake is on the Indian side of the border about 70% of this Pangong lies in the Tibetan (China) side.
Visitors can expect to see some rare wild animals while on the way to (and alongside) the lake. You can either stay at a village homestay at Man, Merak, Spangmik or you can choose for tented accommodation.

Day 7: Drive from Pangong Tso (4350m) to Tsomoriri
Pass By: Karzok 194404
Early morning, we will wake up to the mesmerising view of sunrise at the lake. The view and tranquillity will surely keep you wanting to come back again and again. We will soon start driving towards Loma bend. We will then divert towards Sumdo and head to Tsomorriri lake. We will get to see some scenic villages along the way in Rupsho, followed by some offroad trails to reach Tsomorriri. Tsomorriri is the large lake with wetlands reserves surrounding the lake. Numerous migratory birds and wildlife throng the region during the season. Close to the lake is the scenic village of Korzok and the monastery of Korzok.
Stop At: Tso Moriri, 194404
Tsomoriri lake is a high altitude lake at Korzok in the Rupsho valley, the lake fed by nearby glaciers mainly through two different streams is brackish water and endorheic in nature. The adjoining marsh are home to numerous rare and endangered native birds, it also serves as a breeding ground for many migratory birds, including the Black-necked crane. Therefore, Tsomoriri lake and itโs surrounding wetlands was declared as a wetland of international importance under the Ramsar convention.
There is also a beautiful village Korzok overlooking the lake, and also a village monastery. The inhabitants are seminomadic peoples, who rear the Pashmina goats, sheep and yaks.

Day 8: Drive from Tsomoriri to Leh via Tsokar
Pass By: Tsomoriri Lake View Point, Leh, Jammu and Kashmir 194404
Today, we'll start early from Tsomorriri via Polokongka-la (16207ft) towards the Tsokar lake, which is known for the salt deposits, rich wildlife and birding spots. We will also encounter the hot springs and sulphur deposits at the Puga valley. The roads will be a mix of patchy tarmac and off roads amidst flat stretches. We will turn right from Debring, and head towards Leh crossing through Taglang La.
Stop At: Tso Kar, 194201
Tsokar lake is another unique lake, surrounded by wetlands that serve as a breeding ground for many rare and endangered bird species. The lush pastures are also important for the nomads of the region, who stays in Rebo (traditional yak wool tent) and migrate from one places to another in search of pastures for their herds.
Traditionally, Tsokar was also a major source of salt in Ladakh, as the traders from the region would barter salt and animal products with fruits, flours, barley etc with traders from Sham (western Ladakh)
This places will be a true delight for peoples who love wildlife, photography and bird watching.

Pass By: Taglang La, 194201
The Taglang Pass at an elevation 5328m is the highest point on the entire stretch of Leh-Manali Highway. Once considered the second highest motorable road in the world, it has lost the title to many other roads that were built over the years.
The pass is mostly paved but the constant need for maintenance work can result in a partly rough road at the time of visit. The Weather as you ascend can abruptly change especially when itโs misty, so it is advisable to take warm clothes along and not to stay long at the top.
