Detailed Itinerary:
Day 01: Delhi ~ Agra (Morning Train) Dep @0600hrs, Arr @0800hrs
Early this morning, you will be picked up from your centrally located Hotel, BnB, Hostel etc and dropped off at Delhi train station to board the train for Agra, breakfast on-board.
Upon arrival, you will be picked up from Agra train station and dropped off at your prebooked Hotel. After a brief relaxation, we will ride to the massive Agra Fort. The elegant buildings inside reflect an interesting synthesis of Hindu and Central Asian architectural styles, built by Emperor Akbar, the maze of the courtyards, mosques & private chambers of the fort echo the story of the Mughal Empire. Later visit Itimad-Ud-Daula โ A Baby Taj!
This evening, we will pay a visit to the would famous Taj Mahal. A dusk visit to the fabled Taj Mahal to witness the magical effects caused by the reflections of the changing colors of the dying Sun on this brilliant white marble building. Later, drive back to Hotel, overnight stay!
Day 02: Agra ~ Jaipur (Afternoon Train) Dep @1450hrs, Arr @1850hrs
Morning free / Gear up early this morning to discover the Taj Mahal at Sunrise - optional.
Later, you will be dropped off at Agra station to board the train for Jaipur - also known as Pink City. Upon arrival, meet and greet at Jaipur train station, later transfer to Hotel for an overnight stay!
Day 03: Jaipur Sightseeing
After breakfast, we will proceed on a full day tour of Jaipur; visiting Amber Fort, the former capital of the royal Jaipurs. Few fail to be moved by the dramatic Rajput grandeur of this hilltop fortress-palace 11 km north of Jaipur. Set on the dry wrinkled Aravali Hills, and surrounded by fortified battlements, the palace straddles two sepia-hued tundra hills overlooking Maota Lake, and its sprawling crenellated walls lattice the surrounding hills.
We will also visit Hawa Mahal โ known as Palace of Winds, a five-storied structure of pink sandstone with semi-Octagonal and delicately honeycombed windows overlooking the main street of the old city. It was built in 1799 so that veiled royal women could peer down unseen by the world through its 593 stone screens.
This afternoon, we proceed on a tour of City Palace lies in the heart of the old city is a blend of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture. The fortified wall has seven gates and was built for protection from invading armies and animals that lived in jungles, which surrounded the wall that time.
Day 04: Jaipur ~ Ajmer/Pushkar (Day Train) Dep @1045hrs, Arr @1245hrs
Morning breakfast, later transfer to Jaipur station. Meet and greet at Ajmer station, transfer to Hotel in Pushkar. Afternoon free at leisure. Overnight stay!
Day 05: Pushkar Sightseeing
Gear up early this morning to hike up the hill and explore Savitri Temple at sunrise. Later, we will pay a visit to the worlds only Brahma Temple dedicated to the Hindu God.
Later take a walk (Do It By Yourself) around its holy lake which is considered sacred in Hindu culture and has an interesting mythology behind it. Wander past the bustling Ghats and temples, observing the devout as they worship at the holy water. Evening free and overnight stay!
Day 06: Pushkar/Ajmer ~ Udaipur (Morning Train) Dep @0825hrs, Arr @1330hrs
This morning, you will be transferred to Ajmer station to board the train for Udaipur. Upon arrival, you will be picked up from Udaipur station and transfer to Hotel.
After fresh n up, we will enjoy a boat cruise (on direct payment) on the serene and beautiful Lake Pichola. The island palace on the Lake called Jagmandir Palace is quite fascinating. The Palace provided inspirations and ideas to the builder of the Taj Mahal. The banks of the lake provide interesting glimpses of the daily bathing and the laundry that takes place here. Looking across the lake, with the city and its great palace rising up behind the island palace, is a scene of rare beauty.
Day 07: Udaipur Sightseeing
After breakfast, we will proceed on a full day tour of the city. Udaipur is a cool oasis in a dry heart of Rajasthan. It is probably the most romantic city in the state where every city has some romantic or exotic tale to tell. The huge city palace towering over the Lake Pichola is the largest palace complex in Rajasthan. Though it is a conglomeration of buildings built by successive rulers, it manages to retain a surprising uniformity of design and affords very fine view of the lake and the city from the upper terraces.
The Jagadish temple next to the city palace enshrines a black stone image of Lord Vishnu and his vehicle- a mighty bird called garuda - in a brass image. The temple is a very fine example of Indo-Aryan Art. Evening free & overnight stay!
Day 08: Udaipur ~ Ranakpur ~ Jodhpur (Car/Minivan)
After breakfast, we will drive to Jodhpur, enroute visit of beautifully preserved Jain Temples in Ranakpur. These temples are known for their intricate and superb architectural styles. From here, we continue drive towards Jodhpur. Upon arrival, check into the hotel and rest.
Note: Since there is no train connection for this sector, therefore we will be using private transportation
Day 09: Jodhpur Sightseeing + Overnight train to Jaisalmer (Dep @2345hrs, Arr @0610hrs)
Today, we will explore Umaid Bhawan Palace built by Maharaja Umaid Singh (1929) to counter a famine which had hit the state at the time. It was also known as โChittar PALACEโ while being constructed. The Palace was designed by HV Lanchester, a renowned British architect and was completed in 16yrs. Built with Sandstone and marble, the architecture of the palace is described as a blend of Indo-Saracenic, Classical Revival and Western Art Deco styles.
Jodhpur city is well known for its antique shops and the best lassi in India. Enjoy an orientation walk (Do It by Yourself) through โOld Cityโ and visit Sadar Bazaar - one of the oldest markets in India. Itโs built around clock tower amid spice and vegetable markets, juice sellers and sari materials. This is a great place to test your haggling skills.
We will also discover Jaswant Thada โ The milky white memorial built towards the end of the 19th century as a tribute to the leader Jaswant Singh is a huge tourist attraction. Jaswant Singh, who ruled Jodhpur, invested well in his state.
Late at night, you will be transferred to Jodhpur station to board the night train over Thar Desert - Jaisalmer.
Day 10: Jaisalmer Arrival + Sightseeing
Upon arrival at Jaisalmer train station, you will picked up and dropped off at Hotel. After a brief relaxation, we will be heading to the honey-colored Jaisalmer Fort that rises from the desert sand. Within the fortified walls, explore an urban center of about 3,000 residents, with a maze of narrow streets and ornately decorated havelis (old mansions) that were built by wealthy Jain merchants. Decorated with carvings, stone inlays, and ornamental lattice, the havelis make the city seem like an open-air museum. Stop to view two of the most renowned buildings: Salim Singh-ki Haveli and Patwon-ki Haveli. Drive back to hotel.
Day 11: Jaisalmer ~ Khuri (Camel Safari / Desert Camp)
Morning breakfast, later we will be heading on a short tour of Gadisar Lake. Post lunch, we will be driving to the desert area Khuri. Upon arrival check into the Camp/tent.
This evening, we will be heading out to the desert on a decorated camel. Witness the dying sun over the Thar Desert, sleeping under the stars in an open sky is a lifetime experience. Ride the camel back to the Campl/ten.
Day 12: Jaisalmer ~ Delhi (Overnight Train) Dep @1645hrs
Morning free at leisure, later you will be transferred to Jaisalmer station to board an overnight train for Delhi.... Tour ends!
Note: The traveler could also finish the tour in Jaisalmer (on day 12th) without taking a night train back to Delhi.
