Day 2: From Arad To Masada

The day starts with a short taxi shuttle to the start of the trail. After a few easy warm-up kilometers you will reach the cliff top of Zeelim Gorge, one of the largest and most beautiful gorges in the Judean Desert. A good stop for a short break before descending into the canyon an old desert path. The hike through the canyon between the high walls is a great experience. After about 2 km you will reach Ein Namer (the โ€œLeopardโ€ spring). Another attraction that invites you to take a break. The name recalls that this rare source of water was used in the past by the native desert leopards that once inhabited the Judean desert. They climb out of the gorge on another old path. After a bend, the Dead Sea suddenly comes into view. The trail ends at the foot of Masada Fortress and is within walking distance of the property.

Day 4: From Masada To Ein Gedi

The day begins with a short taxi shuttle to the start of the hiking trail. Another great canyon in the Judean desert. An exciting and challenging hike up the narrow gorge takes us to a dry horseshoe-shaped waterfall and another desert spring, Ein Mishmar. This exciting section includes crossing pools, getting wet and climbing a few metal ladders. (Bring extra dry shoes and clothes!) If this is not for you, you can easily handle a path that runs above the gorge. After the rest in Ein Mishamr, the trail climbs steeply to the north side of the gorge and leads down the desert plateau to Kibbutz Ein Gedi, where you can walk to the property.

      Please note:
Itโ€™s a busy day. If this is too much for you, return to the starting point on the paths that run above the canyon. And from there a taxi shuttle to the property in 10 minutes (extra transfer will be paid on site).

The day begins with the iconic view of the Dead Sea peeering through the โ€œWindowโ€ waterfall. This is followed by a strenuous climb on the old and beautifully built Ein Gedi Pass with further views of the Dead Sea from high up. The end is along the bubbling waters of the Arugot stream with its pools and cascades. Donโ€™t forget your swimsuit and enjoy a swim in the pool under the hidden waterfall!
