      Day 2: Antananarivo: Visit Of Historical Sites In Antananarivo

      After your breakfast, you go to conquer the religious temples of Madagascar capital. First, visit the temple of Ambatonakanga, a place of imprisonment of Rasalama, the first Malagasy Martyr (1837). It was also the first stone cult building in the capital. Then, visit of the Faravohitra temple. Here the four Martyrs of the "Andriamasinavalona" caste had perished, burnt alive on pyres on 28th March 1849. Afterwards, the visit continues to the Ampahamarinana temple. From the top of this granite cliff 14 Christians were thrown down there. The corpses were then transported to Faravohitra to be burned. It was then inaugurated on 28th March 1874. Dinner at the restaurant. Finally, you finish by the discovery of the temple of Ambohipotsy. It is a place where Rasalama and other Christians, martyrs of the faith (1837), were executed. In front of this temple is a stele commemorating the death sentence. During the late afternoon you enjoy the sunset and the panoramic view of the city.

      After breakfast, join Akamasoa association to attend Father Pedroโ€™s mass or if the day does not coincide with Sunday, only spend time in the center to discover the activities of the children and the members of the association. In the afternoon, picnic lunch, followed by a visit to the congregation of young Jesuits in Analamahintsy. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

      After breakfast, drive to Andasibe. On the way, stop in Marozevo to visit the Peyrieras reserve and there will be the opportunity to meet endemic species of chameleons. Another short stop to discover a little bit the town of Moramanga and its museum. Lunch at the restaurant. Continuation in the direction of Pรฉrinet. Arrival at the end of the afternoon and installation at the hotel then night visit. Dinner and night at the hotel.

      A day dedicated for visiting the most accessible and unmissable park. Guided tour of the Analamazaotra reserve: a dense humid forest. The latter conceals a great biodiversity that you will discover at each step to marvel and surprise you a little more... For the observation of the biggest living lemur of the planet, the Indri-indri, in its natural environment, and the other species of diurnal and nocturnal lemurs, frogs and reptiles that populate the park. An adventure, an expedition not to be missed, climate varying from humid East. The landscapes are spectacular and the local population very welcoming. Lunch at the restaurant.

      You have the opportunity to discover the private park of Vakona: This reserve, very well-conceived, includes a small informal museum, a lake with crocodiles, various species of reptiles and batrachians, several endemic plants, a superb aviary and especially a "mini-park" with lemurs including several small islands where various species of these prosimians loaf around. You move by canoe from islet to islet, to get very close to the specimens of the park, partly tamed. An unforgettable encounter even for the most skeptical. Dinner and night at the hotel.

      After breakfast, departure for visiting the reserve. Morning dedicated to the visit of the Palmarium, a beautiful private nature reserve. Itโ€™s located on a 50ha peninsula. This location contributes to the charm of this reserve. You discover there, quite exceptionally, about ten species of lemurs living in freedom and used to live together, and a rare and endemic terrestrial and arboreal fauna. The diversity of the flora is not to be ignored. Magnificent, this one is composed of orchids, palms specific to Madagascar, plants capable of resisting drought, impressive lianas, carnivorous plants, etc. Picnic lunch. Lazing in the afternoon, down below, 30 meters away, a white sandy beach and clear and safe waters for swimming. The site is called Ankaninโ€™ny Nofy, which means "the nest of dreams". A name that keeps all its promises. Dinner and night at the hotel.

      After breakfast, boat transfer to Tamatave through the Pangalanes canal. It is an impressive string of rivers and lakes that run along the east coast of Madagascar, from Tamatave to Farafangana, over 660km, making it the longest canal in the world! In places, the canal is separated from the sea only by a narrow strip of sand or forest. It was fitted out for commercial navigation by General Gallieni from 1896 to 1904, in order to facilitate the transport of spices produced in the South-East of Madagascar to the port of Tamatave, further north. We cross the Rasoabe, Rasoamasay and Ampitabe lakes. The banks of the Canal are rich in aquatic flora: Ravinala (Emblem of the Malagasy nation), water lilies, eucalyptus, pandanus, elephant ears.... Arrival at the river port of Tamatave, transfer to the hotel. Free lunch at the restaurant. In the afternoon, visit of the market and the big port of Tamatave. Dinner and night at the hotel.

      In Tamatave, during the day discover the path of the two missionaries awaits you in this part of the region. Visit the historical sites marking the arrival of the London Missionary Society or LMS missionaries. Its missionaries arrived in Madagascar in 1818 and set up a school in Tamatave. They entered IvondroToamasina. This is why the name "Gateway to the Gospel". The missionaries taught the scriptures in Malagasy. Thatโ€™s why we have until now the Bible written in Malagasy. In 1962, two years after independence, the LMS became the Church of Christ in Madagascar. The FFMA gradually settled in Madagascar to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

      After breakfast, departure for Foulpointe and visit the Fort Manda of Foulpointe, built in 1826 by King Radama I. It was made from dry stones and coral powder mixed with egg whites, protecting Madagascar in the past from naval attacks. And still resistant to this day. Cannons and secret passages can be seen in this moving citadel.

      After breakfast, departure for Mahambo by boat, the beautiful eastern beach. Then you take the road about 80 km to reach Tamatave, the largest city in the eastern part of Madagascar. Arrival at destination, visit of the Ivoloina Park. In this zoological park, you meet 13 species of lemurs, in captivity or in freedom, radiata and pryxis turtles as well as chameleons. This is the time to discover the Aye aye, endemic and endangered species. Swimming under the waterfall and a short hike to contemplate a wonderful landscape at the highest point of the park. In the late afternoon you get the experience of the sunset by the sea. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Depending on the time available, there is a possibility to visit the handicraft market to buy souvenir items. Settling in at the hotel near the airport for a moment of rest (day use). Meeting and dinner with our team. Evening transfer to the airport to catch the flight back to home country.
