    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      How To Reach Rothenburg

"In the old imperial city of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, you can experience the German Middle Ages and the Renaissance in Germany as they really were." According to the town’s own advertising. A stroll through the winding alleyways confirms this impressively. • Day 2 Rothenburg — Herrieden
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Rothenburg — Herrieden

Beyond Rothenburg, you have the choice between a 10 km longer variant, which leads past the Hornauer Weiher, the source of the Altmühl, and the route indicated on the southern edge of the Frankenhöhe. In either case, you will have to

in either case. Then it’s a leisurely ride through the wide Altmühl valley. If you don’t shy away from the climb to Colmberg Castle, you will be rewarded with a magnificent panoramic view (with food and drink if you wish). And along the way you should keep an eye out for storks in the meadows and on rooftops. Route length approx. 54 km; riding time approx. 4½ hours - easy to medium stage.

Route length 51 km; riding time approx. 4¼ hours - easy stage.

  • Day 6 Beilngries — Kelheim
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Beilngries — Kelheim

The last section of the Altmühl, which becomes the Main-Danube Canal at Töging, also has many attractions.
