Day 1: Birding in Mabamba bay
Stop At: Mabamba Swamp, Uganda
Your first day of the African birds watching safari tour will begin with a guide picking you from a suitable location in Kampala. After a briefing, your guide will drive you to your first birding destination โ Mabamba bay, a wetland situated on the edge of Lake Victoria, northwest of the Entebbe peninsula. The swamp has a high concentration of bird species, including the endangered shoebill stork.
The other birds to see at the swamp include; the kingfisher, blue swallow, papyrus gonolek, yellow warbler, goliath heron, egret, papyrus canary, brown-throated weaver, grey-headed gull, gull-billed tern, pygmy geese, pallid harrier, blue-headed coucal, and the white-winged warbler. Mabamba bay has over 260 bird species..

Day 2: Travel to Murchison Falls National Park
Stop At: Murchison Falls National Park, Murchison Falls National Park, Western Region
On the second day of your African birds watching safari, you will embark on a journey to Murchison Falls National Park after having breakfast. Driving towards the North-western Uganda, you will pass through the infamous Luweero triangle.
You will reach Murchison Falls in the late afternoon and drive to the top of the falls before embark on a guided nature walk, where you will spot a variety of bird species. You will retire at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Birding along the Victoria Nile, Lake Albert delta and the top of the falls
Stop At: Murchison Falls National Park, Murchison Falls National Park, Western Region
On the third day of your African birds watching safari, you will embark on a boat ride along the Victoria Nile and the Lake Albert delta. Some of the birds you will see in this area include; the Secretary bird, red-necked falcon, Abyssinian roller, blue-breasted bee, grosbeak weaver, vinaceous dove, and the rare shoe bill stork.
You will further drive to the top of the falls for another birding excursion. Some of the birds you will likely spot while there include; the grey woodpecker, white crested Turaco, red shouldered cuckoo shrike, black headed gonolek, chestnut crowned sparrow weaver, red winged grey warbler, Bruceโs pigeon, osprey, violet backed sun bird, white fronted black chat, red throated bee eater and Brown twin spot.

Day 4: Birding along the northern banks of the Victoria Nile โ transfer to Budongo forest
Stop At: Budongo Forest, Northwest of Kampala, Kampala Uganda
On your fourth day of the African birds watching safari, you will embark on a birding drive along the northern bank of the Victoria Nile. Murchison Falls National Park has an inexhaustible list of over 450 bird species. Some of the birds you will see in this place include; the rare shoebill, red winged grey warbler, pelโs fishing owl, Egyptian plover, white winged canary, white crested Turaco, bat hawk, rock pranticole, Secretary Bird, bat hawk, carmie bee eater, night jar, peanut winged and white winged canary.
You will have lunch in the afternoon and then drive to Budongo forest where you will have your final birding excursion for the day.

Day 5: Birding in Kaniyo โ Pabidi & Rabongo forests
Stop At: Budongo Forest, Northwest of Kampala, Kampala Uganda
Besides harboring a high concentration of primate species, the forests are a habitat to a variety of bird species. An African birds watching safari is incomplete without visiting Kaniyo โ pabidi and Rabongo forests.
The bird species you are likely to see include; the Puvelโs illadopsis which is found only in Kaniyo โ Pabidi in the whole of East Africa, Cassinโs spinetail, Yellow-crested woodpecker, Crowned eagle, Cassin hawk eagle, Dwarf kingfisher, Cameroon Somber, Blue-breasted kingfisher, Pygmy crake, Green-breasted pitta, Woodhouseโs antpecker, Spotted greenbul, Chocolate-backed kingfisher, Sabineโs spinetail, Lemon-bellied crombec, White-spotted flufftail, Yellow-footed flycatcher, the rare piping horn bill and the Ituri batis.

Day 6: Birding in Royal mile and Busingiro โ still in Budongo forest
Stop At: Budongo Forest, Northwest of Kampala, Kampala Uganda
Busingiro ecotourism sight and the famous royal mile are renowned birding spots, part of the vast Budongo forest. After having breakfast, you will travel to Busingiro and later connect to Royal mile on the sixth day of your African birds watching safari. Day 7: Birding in Kibale Forest
Stop At: Kibale National Park, Kibale National Park, Western Region
On the seventh day of your African birds watching safari, you will travel to Kibale National Park in the early morning. You will report to Kanyanchu River Camp where all tourism activities begin. Besides harboring the largest population of habituated chimpanzee families, Kibale National Park has a population of over 375 bird species including a good number of African birds. You will embark on a guided forest walk with a professional guide.
While on your African birds watching excursion in Kibale, you will see the; African pitta, Yellow-rumped tinker bird, Green-breasted pitta, Black bee-eater, Collared apalis, Purple-breasted sunbird, African grey parrot, Black-eared ground thrush, Abyssinian ground thrush, Red-faced woodland warbler, Blue-headed sunbird, Afep and White-napped pigeons, Red-chested owlet, Crowned eagle, Little green bul, Yellow-spotted nicator and the scaly-breasted illadopsis. Day 8: Birding in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary โ transfer to Semuliki
Stop At: Kibale National Park, Kibale National Park, Western Region
You will travel to Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary situated in Magombe swamp just outside Kibale National Park. The sanctuary is a good bird spot with a notable population of over 138 bird species. You will have a guided nature walk in the various viewing spots where you will see species including the; yellow-spotted and hairy-breasted barbets, black-crowned wax bill, Brown-throated wattle eye, Brown-crowned tchagra, Bocageโs Bush shrike, White-breasted negrofinch, Black bishop, Black and white shrike flycatcher, Grey-winged robin chat, Yellow-Billie barbet, Toro Olive green bull, and Western nicator.
You will transfer to Semuliki National Park in the late afternoon, preparing to continue with your African birds watching excursion the next day.

Day 9: Birding in Semuliki National Park

After having breakfast, the ninth day of your African birds watching safari will begin in the great Semliki National Park situated in the Albertine Rift Valley. The parkโs riverine, grasslands and forest are a habitat to over 441 bird species. As you embark on a guided birding walk through the park, the species you will see include the; African piculet, Blue-billed malimbe, Maxwellโs black weaver, Black dwarf hornbill, Nkulengu rail, Swamp Palm bulbul, Dwarf honey guide, Piping hornbill, Yellow-throated cuckoo, Great blue and Rossโ Turaco, Orange weaver, Purple-breasted sunbird, Congo serpent eagle, Long-tailed hawk, Black collared lovebird, Zenker honey guide, and the Bates nighter.

Day 10: Final birding excursion in Semuliki โ transfer to Queen Elizabeth.
Stop At: Semuliki National Park, Semuliki National Park, Western Region
On the last day of your African birds watching excursion in Semuliki, you will hit the trails along the Kirumia River, Ntandi and finally Sempaya. You will be able to sight the various bird species that have their abode in these places. Before transferring to Queen Elizabeth National Park, you will visit the Sempaya hot springs which comprise of two boiling geysers. After having your lunch, you will depart from Semuliki National Park and head to Queen Elizabeth National Park, arriving there in the late evening. This will mark the end of the tenth day of your African birds watching safari.

Day 11: Birding in Kasenyi area & Mweya peninsula โ Queen Elizabeth National Park
Stop At: Queen Elizabeth National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Western Region
You will continue with your African birds watching safari in the early morning after having breakfast. You will drive out to Kasenyi area, one of the famous birding spots in Queen Elizabeth National Park. The park a remarkable number of over 600 bird species. In this savannah grasslands dominated Kaenyi area, you will spot a variety of bird species including the; Palm-nut and hooded vultures, African white-backed vulture, African crake, Martial eagle, Senegal plover, Black-headed gonolek, Grey-backed fiscal, Flappet and White-tailed larks, Zitting and croaking cisticola, Brown snake eagle, Grey kestrel and the Black-crowned Tchagra. As you drive through the Kasenyi area, you will encounter several wildlife game. Queen Elizabeth is a wildlife hub.
After having lunch, you will embark on a boat cruise along Kazinga channel to continue with your African birds watching adventure. The Kazinga channel is situated in the Mweya peninsula and is the connecting link between Lake Edward and Lake George. The area around the channel is a good birding spot with species like the; African mourning dove, Square-tailed, Slender-tailed and the Swamp nightjars, Grey-headed and Pygmy kingfishers, Blue-napped mousebird, Lesser masked, Slender-billed, and Yellow-backed weavers, Scarlet-chested and Red-chested sunbirds, Nubian woodpecker, Little bee-eater, Swallows, Swifts, Martins, and Cuckoos. Besides the birds, you will sight herds of hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, elephants, among other animals, along the water banks.

Day 12: Birding in Maramagambo forest & Ishasha region โ Queen Elizabeth National Park
Stop At: Maramagambo Forest, Uganda
After having breakfast, you will embark on another African birds watching excursion in Maramagambo forest situated along the Kichwamba escarpment on the right side of the Western Rift Valley Arm. The forest is a good birding spot with species like the; Little grebe, Red-chested, Black and the African emerald cuckoos, African finfoot, Barbets, Black bee-eater, Brubru, Black bishop, Blue-throated roller, Brown illadopsis, Western black-headed Oriole, Sulphur-breasted bush-shrike, Blue-breasted kingfisher, Honeyguide greenbul, Chestnut wattle-eye, and the black-headed batis.
After lunch, you will transfer to Ishasha sector to continue with your African birds watching adventure. Although the area is most known for its resident tree climbing lions, it is also a good birding spot with an intriguing population of bird species. Among the birds you will likely see is the; Shoebill, Palm-nut and hooded vultures, Lappet-faced vulture, African white-backed vulture, African crowned eagle, Martial eagle, Black-bellied bastard, African wattled plover, Senegal plover, African green pigeon, Grey kestrel, Black-bellied bastard, Rossโs Turaco, Helmeted Guinea fowl, African crake, Brown snake eagle and the Yellow-billed oxpecker. You will retire from your African birds watching excursion in the late evening, returning to your lodge.

Day 13: Birding in Katwe crater lakes region & Katunguru bridge area โ Queen Elizabeth National Park
Stop At: Queen Elizabeth National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Western Region
After having breakfast, you will head out to the Katwe crater lakes region to continue with your African birds watching excursion. The region is a beautiful mass of craters formed as a result of volcanic explosions. The region is a good birding spot with species like the; Greater and Lesser flamingos, Common Greenshank, Pallid harrier, Little stint, Southern red bishop, Croaking cisticola, African moustached warbler, Avocet, Eurasian mash harrier, Montaguโs harrier, Red-capped lark, Gull-billed tern, and the Broad-tailed warbler.
In the afternoon, you will travel to Katunguru bridge area to continue with your African birds watching excursion. Under the bridge is a papyrus swamp which is a habitat to species like the; Pink-backed pelican, Gull-billed tern, White-winged warbler, White-winged tern, Papyrus gonolek, Lesser swamp wabler, Greater swamp warbler, Carruthersโs cisticola, Malachite kingfisher and Pied kingfisher. You will end the thirteenth day of your African birds watching safari in the late evening, retire to your lodge and prepare to depart for Bwindi the next morning.

Day 14: Transfer to Bwindi โ birding along the main trail
Stop At: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Western Region
After having breakfast, you will set off for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park where you will continue with your African birds watching excursion. Although Bwindi is most known for harboring almost half of the worldโs population of the endangered mountain gorillas, the park is a habitat to over 350 bird species. The bird population in this park is shared across various areas including the; main trail, Buhoma waterfall trail, bamboo zone and Mubwindi swamp trail in Ruhija. Among the species present are about 23 Albertine Rift endemics.
After arriving at the park in the afternoon, you will embark on a birding excursion along the main trail. You will see several bird species including the; Blue-headed sunbird, Short-tailed warbler, Common bulbul, Emerald cuckoo, Red-headed bluebill, African blue and white-tailed blue flycatchers. Your African birds watching expedition will end in the late evening. You will retire to your choice accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 15: Birding along Buhoma waterfall trail & Mubwindi swamp trail โ Bwindi
Stop At: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Buhoma Uganda
The fifteenth day of your African birds watching safari will begin with an early breakfast after which you will go birding along the Buhoma waterfall trail โ a famous birders paradise. You will see a variety of bird species including the; Olive long-tailed cuckoo, Handsome francolin, Neumannโs warbler, Red-chested flufftail, Toro olive greenbul, honey guides, Elliots, Narrow-tailed starlings, Pale-breasted illadopsis, Red-throated aletha, Red-faced woodland warbler, Banded and White-chinned prinia, bar-tailed trogon, Yellow whiskered greenbul, Kivu ground thrush, Red-chested owlet, Sombre greenbul and the Pink-footed puffback. This birding trail will take a rough estimate of 3-4 hours.
After having lunch, you will leave Buhoma and transfer to Ruhija, to continue with your African birds watching adventure. Once in Ruhija, you will embark on the famous Mubwindi swamp trail, a path that stretches through the rainforest, offering a scenic view of the valleys and the Virunga volcanoes. It is very likely that you will sight gorillas, elephants, chimpanzees, warthogs, monkeys, among other forest โdwellersโ. The bird species you will spot along this trail include the; African green broadbill, mountain masked apalis, Grauerโs rush warbler, Grey cuckoo shrike, Mountain greenbul, Purple-breasted cotinga, and the chestnut-sided warbler. This trail lasts between 4 โ 5 hours. You will retire to your choice accommodation in the late evening.

Day 16: Birding along the bamboo trail โ Ruhija section, Bwindi
Stop At: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Western Region
After having breakfast, you will continue with your African birds watching adventure in Ruhija. This time around you will embark on the most strenuous yet highly rewarding trail. You will hike along the bamboo trail โ consisting of a steep climb through the impenetrable rainforest. You will see many bird species including the; Cinnamon-chested bee-eater, Red-faced woodland warbler, Great blue and black billed turacos, Chubbโs cisticola, Rwenzori batis, White-necked raven, Purple-breasted and bronze sunbirds, Western black headed Oriole, Dusky turtle dove, Yellow bishop, Ayresโs and Cassinโs hawk eagle, Streak and thick billed seedeaters, swallows, robins and weavers.
It is very possible to spot mire than 100 species while hiking along this trail. Your African birds watching adventure in Bwindi will end in the late evening, you will retire to your lodge and prepare to transfer to Lake Mburo National Park the next day.

Day 17: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park โ birding in Rabongo forest
Stop At: Lake Mburo National Park, Lake Mburo National Park, Western Region
After having breakfast, you will transfer to Lake Mburo National Park where you will continue with your African birds watching safari. The park is a habitat to over 310 bird species, among which are papyrus endemics, forest and acacia-dwelling species. You will arrive at the park in the mid-morning or early afternoon. Once there, you will have lunch and embark on a birding excursion in the parkโs famous Rabongo forest.
You will spot a variety of species including the; Papyrus gonolek, blue-headed coucal, black-collared barbet, Southern ground hornbill, Abyssinian ground hornbill, Brown-chested lapwing, Mosque swallow, Hairy-breasted barbet, Greater painted snipe, Yellow rumped tinkerbird, White-winged swamp warbler, Blue breasted kingfisher, Bare-faced go-away bird and the Shoebill stork. Besides the birds you will be able to sight several wildlife species living in the park. You will retire to your choice lodge in the evening.

Day 18: Visiting the various birding in Lake Mburo National Park
Stop At: Lake Mburo National Park, Lake Mburo National Park, Western Region
You will spend the second last day of your African birds watching safari visiting the various birding spots throughout Lake Mburo National Park. You will visit the swampy valleys of Warukiri and Miriti, the roadsides between the Rwonyo camp and the Jetty, and the well-situated viewing platforms at the salt licks in Miriti.
You will see a variety of birds including; Rossโs turaco, Rufous-bellied heron, Coqui francolin, Grey-crowned crane, White-headed barbet, Red-faced barbet, Nubian woodpecker, Red-headed lovebird, Brown parrot, Emerald-spotted wood dove, Green wood hoopoe, Black-bellied bastard, White-winged tit and finfoot, common scimitarbill, Yellow breasted apalis and the Bateleur. Lake Mburo National Park is the place to go for the African birdโs lover.

Day 19: Return to Kampala

The nineteenth day will be the climax of your African birds watching safari. After having breakfast you will embark on your journey back to Kampala. As you drive to Ugandaโs capital, you will continue with your birding adventure along the way.
Once you arrive in Kampala, your guide will take you to the cityโs famous birding spots. You will see birds like; the Black and White casqued hornbills, Palm-nut vultures, Great and long-tailed cormorants, Egrets, Marabou storks, Pink-backed pelicans, Grey-crowned cranes, Ruppellโs starling, Sparrows, Red-billed firefinches, Eastern grey plantain eater, White-browed coucal, and the Long-crested eagle.

Day 6: Birding in Royal mile and Busingiro โ still in Budongo forest
Stop At: Budongo Forest, Northwest of Kampala, Kampala Uganda
Busingiro ecotourism sight and the famous royal mile are renowned birding spots, part of the vast Budongo forest. After having breakfast, you will travel to Busingiro and later connect to Royal mile on the sixth day of your African birds watching safari. The bird species you are likely to see include the; Neafrapus Cassini, Nathanโs francolin, Dwarf kingfisher, blue-shouldered robin chat, White thighed horn bill, red-capped robin chat, rufous-crowned elemonela, Ituri batis, Hairy-breasted barbet, African crowned eagle, brow-eared woodpecker, Parmoptila Woodhouse, Spotted greenbul, Yellow spotted barbet, Chestnut-capped flycatcher, Chocolate-backed kingfisher, Yellow mated weaver, Forest robin, and the Gray and Yellow long bills. Day 7: Birding in Kibale Forest
Stop At: Kibale National Park, Kibale National Park, Western Region
On the seventh day of your African birds watching safari, you will travel to Kibale National Park in the early morning. You will report to Kanyanchu River Camp where all tourism activities begin. Besides harboring the largest population of habituated chimpanzee families, Kibale National Park has a population of over 375 bird species including a good number of African birds. You will embark on a guided forest walk with a professional guide.
While on your African birds watching excursion in Kibale, you will see the; African pitta, Yellow-rumped tinker bird, Green-breasted pitta, Black bee-eater, Collared apalis, Purple-breasted sunbird, African grey parrot, Black-eared ground thrush, Abyssinian ground thrush, Red-faced woodland warbler, Blue-headed sunbird, Afep and White-napped pigeons, Red-chested owlet, Crowned eagle, Little green bul, Yellow-spotted nicator and the scaly-breasted illadopsis. Day 8: Birding in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary โ transfer to Semuliki
Stop At: Kibale National Park, Kibale National Park, Western Region
You will travel to Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary situated in Magombe swamp just outside Kibale National Park. The sanctuary is a good bird spot with a notable population of over 138 bird species. You will have a guided nature walk in the various viewing spots where you will see species including the; yellow-spotted and hairy-breasted barbets, black-crowned wax bill, Brown-throated wattle eye, Brown-crowned tchagra, Bocageโs Bush shrike, White-breasted negrofinch, Black bishop, Black and white shrike flycatcher, Grey-winged robin chat, Yellow-Billie barbet, Toro Olive green bull, and Western nicator.
You will transfer to Semuliki National Park in the late afternoon, preparing to continue with your African birds watching excursion the next day.

On the last day of your African birds watching excursion in Semuliki, you will hit the trails along the Kirumia River, Ntandi and finally Sempaya. You will be able to sight the various bird species that have their abode in these places. Before transferring to Queen Elizabeth National Park, you will visit the Sempaya hot springs which comprise of two boiling geysers. After having your lunch, you will depart from Semuliki National Park and head to Queen Elizabeth National Park, arriving there in the late evening. This will mark the end of the tenth day of your African birds watching safari.

Day 11: Birding in Kasenyi area & Mweya peninsula โ Queen Elizabeth National Park

You will continue with your African birds watching safari in the early morning after having breakfast. You will drive out to Kasenyi area, one of the famous birding spots in Queen Elizabeth National Park. The park a remarkable number of over 600 bird species. In this savannah grasslands dominated Kaenyi area, you will spot a variety of bird species including the; Palm-nut and hooded vultures, African white-backed vulture, African crake, Martial eagle, Senegal plover, Black-headed gonolek, Grey-backed fiscal, Flappet and White-tailed larks, Zitting and croaking cisticola, Brown snake eagle, Grey kestrel and the Black-crowned Tchagra. As you drive through the Kasenyi area, you will encounter several wildlife game. Queen Elizabeth is a wildlife hub.
After having lunch, you will embark on a boat cruise along Kazinga channel to continue with your African birds watching adventure. The Kazinga channel is situated in the Mweya peninsula and is the connecting link between Lake Edward and Lake George. The area around the channel is a good birding spot with species like the; African mourning dove, Square-tailed, Slender-tailed and the Swamp nightjars, Grey-headed and Pygmy kingfishers, Blue-napped mousebird, Lesser masked, Slender-billed, and Yellow-backed weavers, Scarlet-chested and Red-chested sunbirds, Nubian woodpecker, Little bee-eater, Swallows, Swifts, Martins, and Cuckoos. Besides the birds, you will sight herds of hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, elephants, among other animals, along the water banks.

Day 12: Birding in Maramagambo forest & Ishasha region โ Queen Elizabeth National Park

After having breakfast, you will embark on another African birds watching excursion in Maramagambo forest situated along the Kichwamba escarpment on the right side of the Western Rift Valley Arm. The forest is a good birding spot with species like the; Little grebe, Red-chested, Black and the African emerald cuckoos, African finfoot, Barbets, Black bee-eater, Brubru, Black bishop, Blue-throated roller, Brown illadopsis, Western black-headed Oriole, Sulphur-breasted bush-shrike, Blue-breasted kingfisher, Honeyguide greenbul, Chestnut wattle-eye, and the black-headed batis.
After lunch, you will transfer to Ishasha sector to continue with your African birds watching adventure. Although the area is most known for its resident tree climbing lions, it is also a good birding spot with an intriguing population of bird species. Among the birds you will likely see is the; Shoebill, Palm-nut and hooded vultures, Lappet-faced vulture, African white-backed vulture, African crowned eagle, Martial eagle, Black-bellied bastard, African wattled plover, Senegal plover, African green pigeon, Grey kestrel, Black-bellied bastard, Rossโs Turaco, Helmeted Guinea fowl, African crake, Brown snake eagle and the Yellow-billed oxpecker. Day 13: Birding in Katwe crater lakes region & Katunguru bridge area โ Queen Elizabeth National Park

After having breakfast, you will head out to the Katwe crater lakes region to continue with your African birds watching excursion. The region is a beautiful mass of craters formed as a result of volcanic explosions. The region is a good birding spot with species like the; Greater and Lesser flamingos, Common Greenshank, Pallid harrier, Little stint, Southern red bishop, Croaking cisticola, African moustached warbler, Avocet, Eurasian mash harrier, Montaguโs harrier, Red-capped lark, Gull-billed tern, and the Broad-tailed warbler.
In the afternoon, you will travel to Katunguru bridge area to continue with your African birds watching excursion. Under the bridge is a papyrus swamp which is a habitat to species like the; Pink-backed pelican, Gull-billed tern, White-winged warbler, White-winged tern, Papyrus gonolek, Lesser swamp wabler, Greater swamp warbler, Carruthersโs cisticola, Malachite kingfisher and Pied kingfisher. You will end the thirteenth day of your African birds watching safari in the late evening, retire to your lodge and prepare to depart for Bwindi the next morning.

Day 14: Transfer to Bwindi โ birding along the main trail
Stop At: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Western Region
After having breakfast, you will set off for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park where you will continue with your African birds watching excursion. Although Bwindi is most known for harboring almost half of the worldโs population of the endangered mountain gorillas, the park is a habitat to over 350 bird species. The bird population in this park is shared across various areas including the; main trail, Buhoma waterfall trail, bamboo zone and Mubwindi swamp trail in Ruhija. Among the species present are about 23 Albertine Rift endemics.
After arriving at the park in the afternoon, you will embark on a birding excursion along the main trail. You will see several bird species including the; Blue-headed sunbird, Short-tailed warbler, Common bulbul, Emerald cuckoo, Red-headed bluebill, African blue and white-tailed blue flycatchers. Your African birds watching expedition will end in the late evening. You will retire to your choice accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 15: Birding along Buhoma waterfall trail & Mubwindi swamp trail โ Bwindi
Stop At: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Buhoma Uganda
The fifteenth day of your African birds watching safari will begin with an early breakfast after which you will go birding along the Buhoma waterfall trail โ a famous birders paradise. You will see a variety of bird species including the; Olive long-tailed cuckoo, Handsome francolin, Neumannโs warbler, Red-chested flufftail, Toro olive greenbul, honey guides, Elliots, Narrow-tailed starlings, Pale-breasted illadopsis, Red-throated aletha, Red-faced woodland warbler, Banded and White-chinned prinia, bar-tailed trogon, Yellow whiskered greenbul, Kivu ground thrush, Red-chested owlet, Sombre greenbul and the Pink-footed puffback. This birding trail will take a rough estimate of 3-4 hours.
After having lunch, you will leave Buhoma and transfer to Ruhija, to continue with your African birds watching adventure. Once in Ruhija, you will embark on the famous Mubwindi swamp trail, a path that stretches through the rainforest, offering a scenic view of the valleys and the Virunga volcanoes. It is very likely that you will sight gorillas, elephants, chimpanzees, warthogs, monkeys, among other forest โdwellersโ. The bird species you will spot along this trail include the; African green broadbill, mountain masked apalis, Grauerโs rush warbler, Grey cuckoo shrike, Mountain greenbul, Purple-breasted cotinga, and the chestnut-sided warbler. This trail lasts between 4 โ 5 hours. You will retire to your choice accommodation in the late evening.

Day 16: Birding along the bamboo trail โ Ruhija section, Bwindi
Stop At: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Western Region
After having breakfast, you will continue with your African birds watching adventure in Ruhija. This time around you will embark on the most strenuous yet highly rewarding trail. You will hike along the bamboo trail โ consisting of a steep climb through the impenetrable rainforest. You will see many bird species including the; Cinnamon-chested bee-eater, Red-faced woodland warbler, Great blue and black billed turacos, Chubbโs cisticola, Rwenzori batis, White-necked raven, Purple-breasted and bronze sunbirds, Western black headed Oriole, Dusky turtle dove, Yellow bishop, Ayresโs and Cassinโs hawk eagle, Streak and thick billed seedeaters, swallows, robins and weavers.
It is very possible to spot mire than 100 species while hiking along this trail. Your African birds watching adventure in Bwindi will end in the late evening, you will retire to your lodge and prepare to transfer to Lake Mburo National Park the next day.

Day 17: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park โ birding in Rabongo forest

After having breakfast, you will transfer to Lake Mburo National Park where you will continue with your African birds watching safari. The park is a habitat to over 310 bird species, among which are papyrus endemics, forest and acacia-dwelling species. You will arrive at the park in the mid-morning or early afternoon. Once there, you will have lunch and embark on a birding excursion in the parkโs famous Rabongo forest.
You will spot a variety of species including the; Papyrus gonolek, blue-headed coucal, black-collared barbet, Southern ground hornbill, Abyssinian ground hornbill, Brown-chested lapwing, Mosque swallow, Hairy-breasted barbet, Greater painted snipe, Yellow rumped tinkerbird, White-winged swamp warbler, Blue breasted kingfisher, Bare-faced go-away bird and the Shoebill stork. Besides the birds you will be able to sight several wildlife species living in the park. You will retire to your choice lodge in the evening.

Day 18: Visiting the various birding in Lake Mburo National Park

You will spend the second last day of your African birds watching safari visiting the various birding spots throughout Lake Mburo National Park. You will visit the swampy valleys of Warukiri and Miriti, the roadsides between the Rwonyo camp and the Jetty, and the well-situated viewing platforms at the salt licks in Miriti.
You will see a variety of birds including; Rossโs turaco, Rufous-bellied heron, Coqui francolin, Grey-crowned crane, White-headed barbet, Red-faced barbet, Nubian woodpecker, Red-headed lovebird, Brown parrot, Emerald-spotted wood dove, Green wood hoopoe, Black-bellied bastard, White-winged tit and finfoot, common scimitarbill, Yellow breasted apalis and the Bateleur. Lake Mburo National Park is the place to go for the African birdโs lover.

Day 19: Return to Kampala

The nineteenth day will be the climax of your African birds watching safari. After having breakfast you will embark on your journey back to Kampala. As you drive to Ugandaโs capital, you will continue with your birding adventure along the way.
Once you arrive in Kampala, your guide will take you to the cityโs famous birding spots. You will see birds like; the Black and White casqued hornbills, Palm-nut vultures, Great and long-tailed cormorants, Egrets, Marabou storks, Pink-backed pelicans, Grey-crowned cranes, Ruppellโs starling, Sparrows, Red-billed firefinches, Eastern grey plantain eater, White-browed coucal, and the Long-crested eagle.
As the day ends, your guide will drive you to your choice location or take you to the airport of you have a flight to catch. This will mark the end of your 19 days African bird watching safari.
