      ACCRA | ACCRA CITY TOUR | KWAME NKRUMAH MAUSOLEUM | ARTS AND CRAFT CENTRE | THE MARKOLA OPEN MARKET | TESHIE COFFIN MAKERS Accra, the capital of Ghana, is an interesting city that, although is quickly evolving, has kept its own identity, reflected in both modern and old areas where traditional activities continue to hold sway. We visit the area of the coffin makers, with their elaborately shaped coffins representing fruits, animals, fish, cars, airplanesโ€ฆ. and the only limit is the intended occupantโ€™s imagination. Originally coming from Africa, these flamboyant coffin designs are part of collections all over the world and exhibited in museums. A visit to a national park erected in memory of Osagyefo (the Messiah) Doctor Kwame Nkrumah, Ghanaโ€™s first president and one of its founding fathers. Built on a former British polo field, it was the point where Nkrumah declared independence in 1957. The park consists of five acres of land and holds a museum tracing Nkrumahโ€™s life. There are many personal items on display, but the centrepiece is the mausoleum, Nkrumah and his wifeโ€™s final resting place. A visit to William Edward Burghardt Du Bois was an African-American civil rights activist who became a citizen of Ghana in the 1960s. He was known as the โ€˜Father of Pan-Africanismโ€™. The centre, where he and his wife once lived, and where they are now buried, houses his personal library, a small museum with a handful of personal effects such as his graduation robes. The coupleโ€™s mausoleum is surrounded by Asante stools, a seminar room, a restaurant, a gallery, an amphitheatre and a research centre for Pan-African history and culture. The Arts Center where you will be warmly welcome by African drums. A visit to Ghanaโ€™s oldest open market where there is variety of products. Explore through the wonderful African open markets where you will see buyers bargaining.The Abgogloshie Yam Tubers markets, The Kokomba Markets where you could locate all the slums of Ghana. A walk through the slums areas of the capital is worthy to experience. * Night Life We visit the Skybar 25. The Skybar 25 is Accraโ€™s premier rooftop venue. Offering breathtaking views of the city from the tallest building in West Africa, we bring you an entertainment experience like no other. A vist to the +233 Jazz Bar & Grill(named after the Ghanaian dialing code) is an intelligently designed club that has live bands six days a week.       HISTORIC SLAVE TRADE CASTLES | CAPE COAST CASTLE | ELIMINA CASTLE | KAKUM NATIONAL PARK | ASSIN MANSO SLAVE RIVER In the morning,a visit to the Elmina Castle, the oldest European building in Africa, erected by the Portuguese in the XV century. At different times the castle has been used as a warehouse to trade gold, ivory and, eventually, slaves. The castle we visit today is the result of successive extension works and is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Outside the castle, a wonderful fishing village with lots of large colorful fishing boats โ€“ every day these canoes are guided by skilled fishermen across strong ocean waves and currents, โ€œfightingโ€ to earn a living. The alleys in the old town have a lively atmosphere, going back to a time when Elmina was a wild colonial town. * KAKUM NATIONAL PARK A visit to the Kakum National Park, Ghanaโ€™s most famous parks. Take a brief walking tour on the forest floor where you will learn how our ancestors lived in the forest. See birds, butterflies, and perhaps catch a glimpse of the forests over 40 species of mammals including monkeys and the reclusive forest elephant. Proceed to the canopy walk. Kakum is home to Africaโ€™s only aerial walkway through the tree canopy, a 1000 foot long and seven-bridge walkway with viewing platforms that reach heights of over 150 feet above ground. Donko Nsuo in Assin Manso is where the slaves were being kept less than hundred kilometres from where the slave ships were docked at Cape Coast and Elimina, the captives were encamped for their last bath with African water, in a river known as โ€œDonko Nsuoโ€, Slave River.       UMBRELLA ROCK | BOTI FALLS | ABURI BOTENICAL GARDENS A visit to the amazing umbrella rock which sites around the same forest where the Boti Falls is located. The uniform shape of the rock is beautiful and the story behind it will blow your mind. Its sizes is well okay to shelter up to about 12 to 15 people at a time. Boti Falls is a twin waterfall located at Boti in Manya Krobo in the Eastern region of Ghana. These twin falls are referred to as Male and Female and in some occassion where the twin falls join together it is believed that the waters are mating and the Locals refer it as Mating Ceremony. Aburi Botenical Garden is also the best places to be when you in Ghana. It house wide range of ornamental plants and medicinal plants as well as Chinese Bamboos and many more. I was established in 1890 by one Gold Coast governor William Brandfors-Griffith. It also house the oldest tree in Ghana which is over 600 years old and the size of the tree is also very huge. KIZOMBA is one of the most popular dance genres taking the world by storm originating from Angola which is characterized by its own genre of music with slower and romantic rhythm. Just like any normal dance, there is a genre of music to tell a wonderful story. KIZOMBA music emerged from a mixture of African rhythm and Haitian Kompa. Most Kizomba songs are sung in Portuguese. The introduction of frequent simultaneous hip rotations also known as Tarraxinha has been added as a subgenre to make the dance more appealing to viewers and dancers in general. The Ashanti people were one of the most powerful nations in Africa until the end of the XIX century, when the British annexed Ashanti Country to their Gold Coast colony. The tribute paid today to the Asantehene (=King) is the best evidence of their past splendour and strength. With nearly one million inhabitants, Kumasi is a sprawling city with a fantastic central market, one of the biggest in Africa. Every type of Ashanti craft (leather goods, pottery, Kente cloth) is found here, along with just about every kind of tropical fruit and vegetable. A walk down the central market.The Kumasi Central Market (also known as Kejetia Market) is an open-air market in the city of Kumasi the capital of Ashanti.Kumasi Central Market is Kumasiโ€™s, Ashantiโ€™s, and Ashantiland Peninsulaโ€™s, West Africaโ€™s and Continental Africaโ€™s largest open air markets.       KUMASI | ASHANTI CRAFT VILLAGES | NTONSO ADINKRA TEXTILES | BONWIRE KENTE CLOTH After breakfast, visit the Ashanti craft villages starting with the woodcarving village of Ahwiaa, known for the talented craftsmen who fashion royal stools, walking sticks and fertility dolls from wood; with the opportunity to purchase hand carved items of all kinds. The next stop is the village of Ntonso where artisanโ€™s hand-stamp patterns on cotton cloth to make Adinkra textiles. Black-on-black and black-on-red Adinkra cloth is worn for funerals and other solemn occasions; learn how the black dye is made in the village from the bark of trees, and creates your own Adinkra sash to take home. You may also purchase large pieces of Adinkra cloth handmade in the village. Our final village is Bonwire, where the famous Kente cloth is handmade on looms in a time-honored tradition passed down through generations. See the Kente weavers in the process of creating Kente cloth in various styles, and have the opportunity to make purchases.
