Day 2: Half Day Tour of Bucharest

Today you will enjoy a panoramic tour of Bucharest that will include: the Constitution Square, the University Square, Charles de Gaulle Square, the Victory Avenue and the Victory Square, the Arch of Triumph, the House of the Free Press, the Union Boulevard. The tour guide will offer you explanation about the history of Bucharest and you will discover the cultural contrasts of the once Little Paris of the East.

Visit world's second largest administrative building, the Romanian Palace of the Parliament. Find out the story of this construction and how the communist regime created the new civic center of Bucharest.
You will enjoy the standard English tour and you will need your passport to enter the building.

Day 3: Bucharest - Curtea de Arges - Sibiu

Stop At: Curtea de Arges Monastery, Bulevardul Basarabilor 1, Curtea de Arges 115300 Romania
Visit Curtea de Arges Monastery, one of the most beautiful Orthodox churches in the country. The tour guide will tell you the legend that tells the story of the construction of this church.
You will also see the tombs of the royal family of Romania and the founders of this church.

Pass By: Le Lac Balea, Fagaras Mountains Romania
Take a drive along the famous Transfagarasan Road. Built in just 4 years, the highway crosses the Carpathian Mountains. The landscape is majestic and youโ€™ll stop several times for pictures. Once on the top of the mountain, youโ€™ll admire the Balea Lake and then continue to the legendary land of Transylvania.
(Between November 1st and June 30, Transfagarasan Highway will be replaced with the road along the Olt river valey).

Day 4: Sibiu - Biertan - Sighisoara - Cluj Napoca

You will start the day with a short walking tour in Sibiu old town.
Hermanstadt, to use its German name, was founded by the Saxon colonists about 800 years ago. In a short time, Sibiu became one of the most important cities of Transylvania. Sibiu boasts several medieval squares (the Large Square, the Small Square, the Huet Square), several towers of Defense, the Roman-Catholic Cathedral, the Evangelic Cathedral, the Bridge of Liars, the Orthodox Cathedral, the Council Tower and the beautiful Brukenthal Museum.

Discover Biertan village and the Fortified Church, part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, one of the strongest of these unique fortifications from Transylvania.

Stop At: Sighisoara Historic Center, Piata Cetatii Nr.1 Center of Sighisoara, Sighisoara 545400 Romania
Sighisoara, another UNESCO site in Transylvania, is the next stop on your trip. Built by the Germans about 800 years ago, the medieval citadel of Sighisoara looks like a perfect postcard. It is the best-preserved citadel in Romania, a stunning combination of cobblestone streets, medieval walls, massive watchtowers and old architecture.
Visit the Clock Tower and the Church on the Hill.

Day 5: Cluj Napoca - Surdesti - Sighet - Sapanta - Maramures village

Visit the UNESCO site of Surdesti. The local wooden church, built in the 18th century, is an amazing example of the local architecture, a wooden church surrounded by a well-preserved rural landscape.

Stop At: Memorial of the Victims of Communism and of the Resistance, Str. Corneliu Coposu No. 4, Sighetu Marmatiei 435500 Romania
Visit a former prison where during the communist years many important Romanian leaders, but also common people who were against the regime, lost their lives. It is here where you will hear more about the horrors of the communist regime.

Stop At: Sapanta, Sapanta, Maramures County, Northwest Romania, Transylvania
In Sapanta village you will admire the famous Merry Cemetery. It has gained originality and value by means of the chopped, carved and painted crosses on which the artisan has chiseled out versified epitaphs, most of them full of a remarkable sense of humor, particular to the area and to all Romanians.

Stop to admire the highest wooden structure in the world: Peri Convent, recently rebuilt.

First, you will visit the house of a local woodcarver who will be happy to have as his guests. Then, youโ€™ll visit one of the highest wooden churches in the world, Barsana Convent.

Visit the painted convent from Moldovita (UNESCO site). Youโ€™ll receive explanations about the frescoes and why they were painted on the exterior walls more than 400 years ago.

Reach Sucevita, known for its stunning painted church, the most impressive and the best preserved of all the painted churches. This religious complex, which looks more like a fortress, is set up in a beautiful valley surrounded by green mountains.

Day 7: Bucovina - Bicaz Gorge - Szekelyland

Stop At: Manastirea Voronet, Strada Voronet 166, Voronet 725301 Romania
Erected in 1488, Voronet Monastery, also an UNESCO site, is a combination of Byzantine, Gothic and local elements. The exterior painting on the western wall depicts, on five registers, the Last Judgement scene, unique in the whole world.

Cross the Carpathian mountains and enjoy a scenic drive along the Bicaz Gorge. You will have a short stop to take some photos.

Day 8: Szekelyland - Brasov - Bran - Sinaia - Bucharest

Stop At: Brasov, Brasov, Brasov County, Central Romania, Transylvania
In the morning, you will enjoy a short walking tour in the old town of Brasov. Youโ€™ll admire the beautiful buildings like the Black Church* which is built in Gothic style. Also, you will see the narrowest street in Romania, Rope Street, Schei and Catherineโ€™s Gates, St. Nicholas Church and the old Schei neighborhood.
*the Black Church will be seen only from outside during the cold months (from November until April)

Stop At: Bran Castle (Dracula's Castle), Str. General Traian Mosoiu nr. 24, Bran 507025 Romania
Visit the famous Bran castle also known as Draculaโ€™s castle. It was a safeguard castle for the trade route that connected Transylvania and Wallachia, built by the people of Brasov in the 14th century.
For tourists this place is the residence of the fictional character, Count Dracula. In reality, Bran Castle is connected to Queen Marie of Romania. Her story is equally interesting with the one of Dracula, if not more interesting.
During the warm season, official holidays and the weekends, the castle is crowded.

Stop At: Peles Castle, Str. Pelesului 2, Sinaia 106100 Romania
The Peles Castle, built in two stages between 1875 and 1914, was the summer residence of King Carol Ist and his wife, queen Elisabeth. Youโ€™ll visit the ground floor where youโ€™ll be astonished by the overwhelming interiors, amazing stain-glass windows, paintings, some of them made by famous artists such as Gustav Klimt.
