Exploring Kunming’S Heritage | Yuantong Temple & Stone Forest Adventure

At 08:00, you guide will meet you in the hotel lobby of centrally located Kunming hotels. You will first be transferred to visit Yuantong Temple, the oldest Buddhist temple in Kunming, with a history spanning more than 1200 years. The construction of the monastery is Chinese architectural gem to take advantage of hill view to indulge into gardens, pool and pavilions etc. The monastery is the seat of Avalokitesvara, you can view various sculptures of Buddha here.

From there you will take a two-hour ride to the Stone Forest, which is a well-known World Heritage site. Stone Forest (Shilin, in Chinese) is a remarkable Karst geography, covering an area of 400 square kilometers, and includes both large and small stone forests. The Stone Forest consists of three parts: Major Stone Forest, Minor Stone Forest and Naigu Stone Forest. The natural climate made the magnificent, strange and astonish landscape in the past millions years. Nowadays there are countless various formations including animals, plants, and even human figures that can be found here. Lunch, served in a local restaurant, is included.

Finally, you will be transferred back to your hotel, where the day trip concludes.

After breakfast, you will visit the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (Yak Meadow section). You will take cable car up and down the mountain. Jade Dragon Snow Mountain now is a famous scenic spot for sightseeing, mountaineering, skiing, exploration, scientific research and taking holiday. Besides, widespread legends and myths of the Naxi ethnic minority and the unclimbed Shanzidou are all important attractive spots for those who come here. Besides, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is a sanctuary for rare animals and wild plants.

After Lunch, the guide will take you to Baisha Village to see the ancient Fresco and visit Yufeng Monastery. Baisha Village is much quieter because it is not commercialized. If you want to witness the authentic life of the Naxi People and appreciate their culture, but are tired of overcrowded Lijiang, here, at Baisha Village, you can experience the Naxi people’s peaceful daily life. Heading for this village, the Baisha Murals cannot be missed.The paintings were finished by Han, Tibetan and Naxi painters as well as painters from other nationalities.At about 4pm, the driver will take you back to your hotel.
