Itinerary

Day 1: Kingussie to Aviemore

Pass By: Kingussie, Kingussie, Aviemore and the Cairngorms, Scottish Highlands, Scotland
As we begin our journey we will take a little time to look at basic paddle strokes and provide some coaching if required. The upper section of the Spey meanders its way through The Insh marshes nature reserve. We will canoe all day until we reach our finish point at Aviemore.

Pass By: Ruthven Barracks, Kingussie, Newtonmore Scotland
We will canoe past Ruthven Barracks, an old military post used by English troops to suppress the Jacobite rebellion. We will have the option if the group wants to stop and walk around & through it marvelling at it's grandeur.

Day 2: Aviemore to Grantown on Spey

Stop At: River Spey, United Kingdom
Along this section, the river eases and meanders under the magnificent Cairngorm Mountains with fabulous views of distant Ben Macdui โ€“ Scotlandโ€™s second-highest mountain. We will canoe all day until we reach our finish point at Grantown.
Duration: 8 hours

Day 3: Grantown on Spey to Ballindalloch

Pass By: Grantown-on-Spey, Grantown-on-Spey, Aviemore and the Cairngorms, Scottish Highlands, Scotland
From here the pace of the river increases considerably and provides many enjoyable class II rapids. We will canoe all day until we reach our finish point at Ballindalloch.

Day 4: Ballindalloch to Craigellachie

Stop At: River Spey, United Kingdom
For lovers of white water this could be the highlight of your trip with many fun grade II rapids. We will canoe all day until we reach our finish point at Craigellachie.
Duration: 8 hours

Stop At: Highlander Inn, Speyside Way, Craigellachie, Aberlour AB38 9QR, UK
If the group wants when we set up camp we can head over to the Inn for a wee dram of whisky - there is the option should people wish to eat in the Inn as well.
Duration: 2 hours

Day 5: Craigellachie to Spey Bay

Pass By: Craigellachie, Aberlour AB38, UK
Finally, we paddle towards the rolling waves of Spey Bay where we are often greeted by sightings of dolphins. We will canoe all day until we reach the trip ending point of Spey Bay.

Stop At: Spey Bay, Fochabers IV32 7PJ, UK
We finish the canoe at Spey Bay - here you can look out from the beach and may even see dolphins which are frequent in the area.
