Since then, many items from the wreckage have been recovered and added to TITANIC: The Artifact Exhibition.

The 25,000-square-foot exhibit features numerous items from the Titanic, including luggage, the ship's whistles, floor tiles from the first-class smoking room, a window frame from the Verandah Cafe, and an unopened bottle of champagne with a 1900 vintage sticker. In addition, the exhibit features a piece of Titanic’s hull, a full-scale re-creation of the Grand Staircase, and a newly-expanded outer Promenade Deck. When you step out on the deck, you’ll experience a temperature-controlled room that replicates the frigid air that was felt on that fateful day in 1912.

These authentic artifacts recovered 2.5 miles below the surface of the North Atlantic, tell the story of the Titanic’s construction, destruction, and eventual recovery. Walk her decks, peer into her cabins and meet her passengers and crew.

One of the most heart-wrenching parts of the exhibit is reading all of the personal stories that line the walls of the rooms. As your guide walks you through the exhibit, they will point out and share some of the most inspiring ones that have been passed down through generations after the sinking of the ship.

As you reach the end of the exhibit, reference the boarding pass you received upon arrival. Each guest will have one that lists the name of a real passenger that rode on the 1912 Titanic trip, their itinerary, and their age. The final exhibit is a memorial to all the lives lost and all the lives saved that day. Inspect carefully and find out if the person on your boarding pass survived the Titanic.

Did you know

This exhibition has been viewed by over 25 million people worldwide.

706 survived the sinking, while 1,517 were lost.

It would have cost about $400 million USD to build the Titanic today.

In 1912, third-class tickets were $40 ($900 today) and first-class tickets were $4,350 ($50,000 today).

The Big Piece, a huge piece of the ship’s hull, is the largest artifact ever recovered from the wreckage.

Springs Preserve is built on the site that served as the primary source of water for indigenous peoples thousands of years ago and early settlers. As a result, you’ll find remains of early settlements and their agricultural and economic endeavors (such as an early chicken coop). You'll see these archaeological sites throughout the trail system that winds through the park.

Springs Preserve highlights

Origen Museum - as its name suggests, the Origen Museum is concerned with the history and roots of contemporary Las Vegas. This interactive space features highly regarded traveling exhibitions and several popular permanent exhibits, including the “Flash Flood” exhibit and the “Miracle in the Mojave” film. Visitors can also explore live animal exhibits featuring a diversity of critters including lizards, desert cottontails, gray foxes, Gila monsters, and more.

Nevada State Museum - offering 13,000 square feet of exhibition space, the Nevada State Museum includes several iconic installations that showcase the significant natural history of the region. Highlighted artifacts and objects include the Nevada state fossil, Ichthyosaur Shonisaurus popularis, a relocated stalactite cave, holographic images retelling the story of historic miners, and others.

NV Energy Foundation Sustainability Gallery - these interactive exhibits showcase the importance and value of an eco-friendly life. From an imagined Las Vegas neighborhood featuring the greatest in sustainability and green technology to exhibits that highlight best practices in recycling, composting, alternative energy, water conservation, and green building. You’ll also find children’s play areas that highlight eco-friendly practices at an age-appropriate level.

WaterWorks - the newest permanent exhibit at Springs Preserve, WaterWorks features a variety of installations that both showcase significant bodies of water in the region (like Lake Mead) and highlights major concerns in regional water conservation. Housed in the historic Charleston Heights Pumping Station, this exhibit is a rare opportunity to see how water gets from nature to your tap.

Botanical Garden - actually comprised of a selection of individually themed gardens, the Botanical Garden features plants indigenous to the Mojave Desert and others that have adapted to grow in dry climates. Here is a list of the primary gardens and what they focus on. You'll journey through the Mojave Cactus and Succulent Collection, the Teaching Garden, Cactus Alley, Rose Garden, Herb Garden, Enabling Garden, Palm Garden, Linn Mills Vegetable Garden, Constructed Wetlands, and the Wildlife Gardens.

Natural Area & Trails - parts of the expansive Springs Preserve grounds but separate from the Botanical Gardens, the trails meander for 3.5 miles through uncultivated, wild nature spaces. The trails roam through all 110 acres, past multiple native habitats (such as a desert tortoise habitat) and archeological sites (including remaining structures from early settlers).
