      Day 3: Yerevan-Khor Virap- Echmiadzin-Zvartnots-Yerevan

It is morning and what to do this time?

In the first Christian country, monasteries are undoubtedly magnificent, and every single one is different and unrepeated. So letโ€™s start a journey to Khor Virap, where the very first torchers over Grigor the Illuminator. You will savour the view of the monastery, the biblical mountain Ararat and will know a lot about the origins of Christianity in the world. By the way, Khor Virap means โ€˜deep dungeonโ€™. Do you know why?

The spiritual city is waiting for you.  The next stop will be at Echmiadzin where you will touch the roots of Christianity. You will see the first monastery in the world and visit the museum where a lot of valuable and highly important pieces of art are kept there such as the Holy Lance (Geghard) which pierced the side of Christ and the relics of Noahโ€™s Ark in a reliquary.

And not far from Echmiadzin, another piece of artwork stands in ruins but that doesnโ€™t spoil its beauty and perfect harmony with the surroundings. Zvartnots will be in front of you and Ararat. The 13th century cathedral is standing in ruins but looks gorgeous.

Then we go on a special trip to Garni and Geghard where two religions stand side by side. Garni is the only pagan temple existing in Armenia. Just next to it is the bases of a church and behind these two are the breathtaking mountains and the Garni Canyon.

From Garni take the way to Geghard monastery, the amazing construction hidden in the mountains. Geghard is a 13th-century construction on the bank of the Azat River.

The complexes are the results of the highest flowering of Armenian religious architecture. In the monasteries a number of well-known academicians, calligraphers and illuminators have studied.
