Days 2-10: Yukon River Canoe Tour

Our canoe trip on the legendary Yukon River starts today. Over the next ten days, we will paddle on the Yukon, roam the wilderness and spend wonderful, eventful days. In total, we cover over four hundred river kilometers on this large river. Just behind Carmacks, the famous 5-finger rapids await us, alongside the ring rapids, the only rapids on the entire route. High steep banks line the Yukon in this area for long distances. The following tributaries such as the White River, Stewart River and Pelly River bring a lot of water and widen the Yukon visibly on the way to Dawson City. From kilometer to kilometer, the river is getting more and more powerful. We pass through islands where we might set up camp one time or another, and we also reach the abandoned Fort Selkirk. Not only here, but everywhere we can still find relics and remnants of the glorious old gold-digging and trapper era in the Yukon!

      Day 11: Dawson City

Today we reach the goal of our tour: Dawson City! Located right at the mouth of the Klondike River, we land our boats directly in โ€œDowntownโ€ Dawson. The afternoon is free and in the evening we can expect a first insight into local nightlife. The next day, we roam the city, drive up to the Midnight Dome, Dawson Cityโ€™s local mountain, and enjoy a magnificent view over the city and the river, which we finally mastered the day before. Then you go straight into the gold fields at Eldorado and Bonanza Creek. Even today, gold is still actively being dug here, as it was over a hundred years ago. We also visit the workers in an active mine on Hunker Creek and will try our luck there ourselves with the gold pan. We visit the Jack London Cabin and also the gold mining museum in Dawson. In the evening we meet in Diamond Tooth Gertieโ€™s casino for can-can dancing, gambling and a lot of good mood. Those who havenโ€™t had any luck panning for gold during the day will get another chance with roulette or card games! (Two nights hotel in Dawson City.)

  • Day 4 Day 12: Dawson City - Whitehorse
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 12: Dawson City - Whitehorse

With our maxivan we drive back on the Klondike Highway to the starting point of the tour in Whitehorse. We also stop at the 5 Finger Rapids, which can be photographed very well from the road. In the evening in Whitehorse we let the tour end comfortably and spend the night one last time in the hotel.

  • Day 5 Day 13: Departure Whitehorse
