After breakfast, we embark on our journey to Riga, the capital of Latvia. Our first stop takes us to the Hill of Crosses, a profoundly sacred place in Catholic Lithuania. Upon crossing into Latvia, we’ll reach the splendid Rundale Palace, the former summer residence of the Duke of Courland. Following a guided palace tour, we’ll journey through the picturesque rolling hills of Southern Latvia, arriving in Riga in the late afternoon for hotel check-in.

Our walking tour of the Old Town will include Riga Castle, the Dome Cathedral, St. Peter’s Church, the Swedish Gate, the Three Brothers, the Large and Small Guilds, and the Freedom Monument. In the afternoon, there’s an optional visit to Jurmala, the vibrant Latvian seaside resort renowned for its wooden architecture and sandy beaches. Here, we’ll immerse ourselves in the medieval Latvian legend of the Rose of Turaida, and explore the ruins of the Episcopal Castle and the Castle of the Knights of the Sword before returning to Riga. In the afternoon, you can opt (with extra charge) for a visit to the Ethnographical Open Air Museum, an extensive showcase of 18th-century rural life.
