The Cathedral of Vilnius – the Neo-Classical Cathedral church built in early 18 century and the square around it. Here is the center of Christmas market in Vilnius. You will be amazed by the mystic atmosphere of happiness and joy!

The Presidential palace, which changed many hands through centuries as well as Lithuania did. Finally, in 1997 our authorities renovated it and turned it into Presidential Palace.

Old Vilnius University campus and the library. Polish King founded it in 1579 as Jesuit theological school. It survived through three epochs – Renaissance, Enlightenment and the transitional 20th century. Indeed, it is one of the oldest universities in Eastern Europe.

Pilies Street – the main artery of the old city since its foundation nowadays one of the most thriving places in the city.

Jewish quarter – from the early 1500′ there was a Jewish settlement in Vilnius. Which, later on, developed into one of the main Jewish centers of Europe. Jews called it Jerusalem of Lithuania.

The gate of Dawn – the only remaining gate of the last Vilnius city wall and the holiest place for Catholics in Lithuania. In the 16th-century city gates often contained religious artifacts intended to guard the city against attacks and to bless travelers. The Chapel in the Gate of Dawn contains an icon of The Blessed Virgin Mary Mother of Mercy, painted by monks on oak tree boards.

Uzupis “res publika” – is one of the neighborhoods of the Old city, populated by artists and just patriots of the old Vilnius. They preserve the area in its original shape and even atmosphere. They even have their own constitution: “Everybody has a right to live by the river Neris”.

The Hill of Three Crosses – from it you can enjoy one of the most thrilling panoramic views of the red and brown tile roofs with a lot of churches and spires.

Day 3: Visit A Frozen Trakai Town

Trakai – is famous for 5 lakes in the center of a huge national park. It was the capital of Lithuania before Vilnius and the residence of Grand Dukes of Lithuania. In the 14th century, Lithuanians built the castle in order to repel the attacks of the crusades. It was ruined during one of the wars and was reconstructed to host a museum of Lithuanian history.

Visit unique Karaite cemetery with Hebrew inscription on the headstones.

Trakai has more water than land and it is a beautiful nature spot where one can enjoy the 5 major lakes and a great number of smaller ones. One can take a break for a walk and views of the castle and the Palace.
