Good news: the wait for this unique adventure is finally over! So letโ€™s get on the plane that will take you to the capital city first. Hello Helsinki! The plane touches down, you step onto Finnish soil and make your way to your accommodation.
As soon as youโ€™ve dropped off your suitcases, youโ€™re ready for a city adventure. Must see: Senate Square and the cathedral, which towers majestically over the city. You are impressed by the large dome and the snow-white columns. No less impressive: the Uspenski Cathedral. Be sure to take a look inside, as the elaborate ceiling paintings are sure to impress! And then? Treat yourself to a break in Helsinkiโ€™s green oasis Esplandi or end the day with a drink in the Design District.

Day 2: Polar Train: On Rails Through The Night!

Nature feeling in the middle of the city? No problem in Helsinki! Kaivopuisto, right by the water, is the perfect spot for this. From the granite hills, you have a great view over the archipelago to the fortress island of Suomenlinna. The "Finn Castle" looks impressive even from afar! Would you like to see it up close? Then you can reach the UNESCO World Heritage Site by ferry (optional, payable on site) from the east side of the market square and be there within 15 minutes. Stomach growling? Quickly to the market hall! The Old Market Hall offers everything a foodieโ€™s heart desires: from local to international dishes, fresh seafood, but also sweets and baked goods, you can try everything!
No matter how youโ€™ve spent the day so far, itโ€™s about to get adventurous! Where are we going? To the train station, where the night train to Oulu is coming to a halt. You make yourself comfortable in your private sleeping compartment - and if the midnight sun allows it, your gaze remains glued to the window pane for quite a while as the dreamlike nature of Finland passes you by. One last time you dream of adventures in the Arctic Circle before they come true in just a few hours. Sweet dreams!

Whichever you choose, at the end of the day youโ€™ll be lying in bed with a big grin on your face while the stars twinkle above you and, with a bit of luck, the Northern Lights will turn the night sky into a spectacular play of colors!
