      Approx. 122 km through 55 tunnels and over 196 bridges: The Bernina Express route is a masterpiece of engineering. Together with the landscape, it is a unique UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy the impressive train journey (approx. 3 hours) from St. Moritz via the open loop in Brusio to Tirano in Italy. Continue in an air-conditioned coach (approx. 3 hours, no 1st class available) through the Valtellina and along Lake Como to Lugano. 2 nights in Lugano. Approx. 122 km/approx. 6 hours (breakfast).

Visit the oldest Capuchin monastery in Switzerland, the open-air museum "Swissminiatur" in Lugano-Melide or the legendary vintage car exhibition with German sports cars from the 1930s to the 1970s. Enjoy the impressive panoramic view of the deep blue Lake Lugano and experience the Italian flair. (Breakfast).

      Train journey from Lugano to charming Locarno. Continue on a romantic route through the Centovalli to Domodossola in northern Italy. The approx. 60 km long route owes its name to the "hundred valleys", which you cross on countless viaducts. From Domodossola you travel via Iselle through the approx. 20 km long Simplon mountain tunnel to Brig in Valais. From here you travel via Visp on the legendary Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn to Zermatt. 2 nights in Zermatt. Approx. 287 km/approx. 4.5 hours (breakfast).

      Day at leisure in the beautiful mountain village at the foot of the Matterhorn. Explore old Zermatt with its typical Valais wooden houses, the Matterhorn Museum "Zermatlantis" or visit the Bahnhofstrasse with its elegant boutiques. We also recommend an excursion to the Gornergrat at 3,089 m with a magnificent panoramic view, optionally with an easy hike or a visit to the "Matterhorn Glacier Paradise" at 3,883 m with the highest viewing platform in the Alps, which offers a 360ยฐ panoramic view of 38 four-thousand-metre peaks and the Glacier Palace (fee).       Day 6: Zermatt - St. Moritz

      In the morning, travel (approx. 8 hours) on the Glacier Express over 291 bridges, through 91 tunnels and over the 2,033 m high Oberalp Pass to St. Moritz. Be amazed by snow-capped peaks, rushing mountain rivers and rugged rock faces on the journey. The route first descends through the Mattertal valley to Brig and continues through the Upper Valais with its lovely landscape, through the Furkaasi tunnel to Andermatt. Continue over the Oberalp Pass down into the Rhine Gorge, where mighty rock faces tower to the left and right of the tracks at breathtaking heights. After the lovely valleys of Graubunden, the journey through the Schyn Gorge becomes wild again. The route takes you through the helical tunnels of the spectacular Albula line, which together with the Bernina line is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to St. Moritz in the Upper Engadin. One night in St. Moritz. Approx. 284 km/approx. 8 hours (breakfast, lunch).
