During your journey through the Copper Canyon, you will stay in the beautiful, charming hotels of the Balderrama Hotel Collection. All the hotels are in prime locations and provide excellent services and hospitality. The comfortable hotels have lovely modern rooms with private baths and purified water Hotel Posada del Hidalgo is a beautiful colonial mansion. Built in 1890, the hotel has 75 rooms in three styles, all the rooms are air conditioned and have private tile baths.Located in El Fuerte, the Gateway to the Copper Canyon. Hotel Mision is located in Cerocahui Village at the edge of Urique Canyon. There are 41 spacious rooms with private baths and wood stoves. Enjoy the village founded by Jesuit missionaries in 1694, and the vineyard which currently produces 3,000 bottles of wine annually. Barrancas del Cobre is built from stone, logs and tile, and is nestled into a sloping hill next to the famous Chihuahua al Pacifico Railroad. Gardens, a vineyard and an orchard are part of the restful view. This is the sister hotel to Hotel Mirador. Hotel Mirador overlooks awe-inspiring scenery from the rim of the Copper Canyon. This deluxe hotel is surrounded by pine trees, and offers 75 beautiful rooms with impressive views from private balconies. Both Hotel Mirador and Barrancas del Cobre offer demonstrations of the Tarahumara Indians dancing, racing and craft work.

      Day 1: Los Mochis

      Thank you for joining us on this fantastic journey in Mexicoโ€™s Copper Canyon. Arrive in the newest metropolis in northern Mexico, Los Mochis you will be met at the airport and transferred to the Colonial City of El Fuerte. Your hotel in El Fuerte is the Posada del Hidalgo - a restored sprawling hacienda of a former mayor. The Posada del Hidalgo hotel has a beautiful courtyard full of tropical vegetation, a swimming pool and is well known for its superb cuisine. They specialize in freshwater black bass and crayfish. In El Fuerte if you have time, you have the options to take a self-guided historic walk around town, go to the new Mayo Indian Museum behind the hotel or take a river cruise (arrange with hotel personnel). Enjoy some time seeing this beautiful Colonial City. If you arrive after 9 p.m., you have an overnight stay in Los Mochis tonight.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Bahuichivo

      Day 2: Bahuichivo

      Your 5 1/2 hour train journey through the Sierra Madre Mountains takes you through some of the worldโ€™s most spectacular scenery. You begin at 600 ft above sea level and end up at just above 5,000 ft at Bahuichivo. Stay in your seat until your ticket is punched, then you are free to roam around the train and stand out between the cars to take pictures. Be sure to have your railroad log in your packet available on the train. You are riding the world-famous Chihuahua al Pacifico Railroad-El Chepe. This engineering masterpiece took almost 100 years to complete and about 90 million dollars. The engineers had to plan for 87 tunnels and 39 bridges to complete the line. Your destination is the beautiful valley of Cerocahui. Your train stop is Bahuichivo. The hotel transport will meet you at the train station and take you to the picturesque Hotel Mision. You have some time this afternoon to wander in the churchyard or stroll through the village.

  • Day 3 Day 3: Cerocahui

      A world-class view awaits you today at the top of Urique Canyon. A land transport journey of about an hour takes you to an amazing overlook at the deepest canyon in the Copper Canyon system. This overlook provides the most expansive photo opportunities of the Copper Canyon on the trip. Free leisure time this afternoon. Stroll through the village or visit the Tarahumara Indian Boarding School, next door to the hotel. Another night at Hotel Mision.

  • Day 4 Day 4: El Divisadero
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 4: El Divisadero

      Be ready at 11:30 a.m. for your land transfer to the Copper Canyon area. Your destination today is the beautiful Mirador Hotel on the Rim of the Copper Canyon. This is the most scenic location in the Copper Canyon System, the sweeping view from the balcony is a magnificent experience.

  • Day 5 Day 5: El Divisadero

      Day 5: El Divisadero

      All day tour to the frontier town of Creel. Take a day tour to visit the main plaza of Creel, Arareko Lake and the mysterious rock formations of the Valley of Mushrooms followed by a visit to the old Jesuit Mission San Ignacio and interact with the Tarahumara Indians in their cave homes (5 hr Tour Included). Accommodations will be at the Mirador on the Rim.

  • Day 6 Day 6: El Fuerte

      Day 6: El Fuerte

      A 9:00 a.m morning land transport to scenic overlooks is included this morning. You have the option of enjoying the cable car rides across the canyon and/or an optional zip line tour. (For optional zip line tour -- you return on the cable car, be sure to tell the crew you are taking the train today. Pay directly at the zip line location). Following lunch at Hotel Mirador, return to your train stop around 2:00 p.m. Your arrival in El Fuerte will be around 9:00 p.m. You will be met at the train station to be transferred to your hotel. Accommodations for this evening will be at Posada del Hidalgo.
