Itinerary of your trip Small Group Tour - Uzbekistan & Tajikistan

  • Day 1 Day 1: Tashkent
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 1: Tashkent

Individual arrival. If you arrive in Tashkent in the morning, you can use our transfer service.
Please inform us about your flight times.
Possibility of early check-in and breakfast at the hotel.
In the afternoon city tour through Tashkent - cultural and economic center of todayโ€™s Uzbekistan. Although the city seems modern, it is one of the oldest cities in Uzbekistan. Cave paintings in the Chatkal Mountains, 80 km away, testify to the fact that people lived there as early as 2000 BC. A large earthquake in 1966 destroyed considerable parts of the city. The city planners used this to realize their vision of a new city as a symbol of Soviet modernity in Asia. Today there is a mixture of wide boulevards, oversized Soviet-era buildings, reconstructed areas of the old city with winding alleys, mud-brick houses, mosques and madrasas.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Tashkent
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 2: Tashkent

After breakfast continue exploring Tashkent. Stroll through a maze of 19th century mud houses to Khast Iman Square. Here you will see Tashkentโ€™s oldest sights: the Barak Khan Medrese and the 16th century Kaffal Shashi Mausoleum. The Tillya Sheikh Mosque houses the oldest Koran in the world, dating back to the 7th century. It is even said to have some of Muhammadโ€™s hair enshrined in it. The Kukeldash Medrese is one of the largest remaining Koranic schools from the 16th century. In the Chorsu Bazaar, you can watch merchants sell spices, fruits, vegetables, dried fruits, wood carvings and embroidery.
Another highlight is the Museum of Decorative and Applied Arts. In the building from 1907, which belonged to a merchant and diplomat exiled from Russia and is considered a masterpiece of architecture and art of that time, important artists of Uzbekistan have worked. Here you can admire handicrafts from the 19th and 20th centuries: Ceramics and porcelain, metal vessels and other metal works of art, fabrics, embroidery and precious wall hangings with colorful patterns, carpets, musical instrument, jewelry and much more.
Tashkent has the first metro in Central Asia. Each station has a different theme, some with Central Asian decorative motifs resembling Russian palaces. With granite and marble, chandeliers and mosaics, the stations on Tashkentโ€™s 3 lines are "art galleries for the people".

In the morning, stroll through the alleys and see the unique architectural monuments: the Minaret Celte Minar and Medrese Muhammad Amin Khan, the Friday Mosque with a wooden ceiling supported by 213 columns, the Kunya Ark citadel, the Medrese Islam Khodja with minaret, and the Pachlavan Machmud Complex and Tasch Hauli Palace.
