Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Lake Kivu and Gisenyi City Tour

Stop At: Gisenyi, Gisenyi, Western Province
Depart from Kigali to Gisenyi, check-in at hotel. After lunch, start exploration of Gisenyi city with visits to Lake Kivu, Congo-border and other attractions.
Duration: 4 hours

Meals included:

โ€ข Dinner: Dinner at the hotel or restaurant in Gisenyi
Accommodation included: Overnight at Lake Kivu 3 star hotel

Day 2: Boat ride, Kayaking or Canoeing on Lake Kivu. Visit the hot springs and enjoy traditional massage therapy.

Stop At: Nyamyumba Hot Springs, Rubavu Rwanda
We take a 3 hour short excursion on Lake Kivu by Kayaking or Canoeing. We visit the natural hot springs and get an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful scenery and watch the birds that dart in and out of bushes along the shoreline. There is an opportunity to book a traditional massage therapy at the hot springs.

Day 3: Cycling or Boat trip to Kinunu Village. Coffee Plantation Tour

Stop At: Kinunu Base Camp, Rutsiro, Rwanda
We begin cycling along the Congo Nile Trail. This is a 4 to 6 hour ride to Kinunu which a small town located about 41 km from Gisenyi. The first day features the steepest elevation climb. We take a lunch break and then visit the Kinunu coffee washing station.
Duration: 6 hours

Day 4: Cycling or Boat trip to Kibuye.

Stop At: Kibuye, Kibuye, Western Province
We continue cycling along the Congo Nile Trail from Kinunu to Kibuye. This is a 50 Km trip and takes about 5 to 8 hours and has the most hills spread out โ€“ definitely the most taxing day. There is a possibility to drive or take a boat trip for those not interested in cycling.
Duration: 8 hours

โ€ข Lunch: Lunch break at Musasa Village with an opportunity to interact with local communities involved in bee-keeping.

Day 5: Lake Kivu. Boat Trip to Napoleon Island.

Stop At: Bisesero Genocide Memorial, on the road from Kibuye, Kibuye Rwanda
After an intensive 2 days of cycling, we take a break and relax in Kibuye which is undeniably the most beautiful spot in Rwanda. We take a morning boat trip to Napoleon islands and spend the hike a small hill to see the flying bats. We then swim before heading back to the hotel for lunch. We explore the Bisesero genocide memorial in the afternoon.

Day 6: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest. Hiking and Canope Walk

Stop At: Nyungwe National Park, Butare Rwanda
Nyungwe forest provides many trails from chimpanzee tracking, tropical waterfall, birds watching and Colobus monkeys.

Day 7: Chimpanzee Tracking, Cultural Tour in Royal city of Nyanza. Transfer to Kigali

Stop At: Nyungwe National Park, Butare Rwanda
We start our chimpanzee tracking between 6 and 7am and this trail last about 3 to 5 hours depending on the location of the primates.
Duration: 5 hours

Stop At: Exploring Nyanza culture and history, Nyanza Rwanda
We then proceed to Huye for a lunch break before joining the cultural tour in the ancient royal capital of the Kingdom of Rwanda.
Nyanza is home to the majestic Inyambo cows with long horns. The tour provides an opportunity to learn about the customs and traditions of ancient Rwanda and we get to
