      After a short briefing on the itinerary for the coming days, you will head from the capital to the heart of the island. You start your first hike at the Bombaim waterfall, which takes you along cocoa plantations and small villages such as Claudino Faro and Bernardo Faro to Roรงa Agua Izรฉ on the east coast. This large colonial plantation estate is the place where cocoa was introduced to the island of Sรฃo Tomรฉ. After your visit, continue south to Boca do Inferno, where the ocean flows through a natural channel of black basalt rocks. Having escaped the infernal maw, you arrive at the Beach of the Seven Waves, where you take a long rest before continuing to Roรงa Sรฃo Joรฃo dos Angolares.       Today you will explore the region of Sรฃo Joรฃo dos Angolares, the capital of the district of Cauรฉ, a fishing region with its own traditional identity. From the Roรงa Sรฃo Joรฃo, you drive through the cocoa plantations to the Roรงas Soledade and Fraternidade, which are situated on hills and offer a magnificent view of the southern region and the basalt monolith Pico Cรฃo Grande. Your excursion ends at Sรฃo Pedro beach, which is unmistakable due to its black sand and its location between the river and the sea. Here, lush coconut groves provide natural shelter for fishing boats. Another little tip for this beautiful day: birdwatchers should not forget their binoculars. Overnight stay as on the previous day. On the way, you will pass jungle areas, the Roรงa Ribeira Peixe and the dream beach of Praia Grande. You can also expect another spectacular view of the famous Pico Cรฃo Grande, which rises 664 m above the surrounding oil palm plantations.       In the morning, take the boat to Ilhรฉu das Rรณlas (Pigeon Island), which lies exactly halfway between the North and South Poles on the equator. You will visit the monument that marks the equator line and explore the wildest part of the island on a hike. Afterwards, you will have lunch with the fishermen on the beach and then itโ€™s time to relax. Swim on one of the islandโ€™s small beaches or on the beach at your lodge.       After the many impressions of the last few days and the kilometers of hiking you have covered, today is yours to spend swimming, snorkelling or taking a trip to the nearby fishing village of Porto Alegre.       Today you will first hike from Praia Inhame to the village of Porto Alegre and take a tour through the countryโ€™s largest mangrove reserve from the boat launch in Malanza. After exploring the biodiversity of the mangroves, you will continue to Jalรฉ beach, which is an important nesting site for sea turtles. After lunch at Praia Jalรฉ, you walk past Praia Piscina and Ponta do Homem da Capa to Morro Chapa, where you can enjoy a wonderful view over to Pigeon Island. Overnight stay as on the previous day.       Todayโ€™s hike takes you from Praia Jalรฉ via Praia Vanha and the interior of the island to Santo Antรณnio de Mussacavu and Praia Pipa. You will cross the Obรด Nature Park and once again enjoy great views of Pico Cรฃo Grande and Cรฃo Pequeno. Once you arrive in Pipa, you board a boat and can enjoy the sea breeze on the trip along the west coast to the Mucumbli Ecolodge. Overnight stay at the lodge.       Today you will gain rare insights into the cultivation of organic cocoa. But first you head into the beautiful Rio Contador valley with its lush flora and birdlife. Through a series of tunnels from the colonial era, which are now inhabited by bats, you will reach the picturesque Angolar waterfall, which plunges into the depths in a natural amphitheater of rock. You then head to the village of Generosa, whose population is mainly from Cape Verde. Here you climb Monte Careca, which offers you a magnificent view of the west coast and the town of Neves. The hike ends at Monte Forte, where the organic cocoa cooperative CECAB is based and where you will learn about cocoa processing. Part of the profit from cocoa cultivation goes towards projects to improve the living conditions of the cocoa farmers. Overnight stay as on the previous day. Today you will discover treasures such as the Roรงa Ribeira Palma and Rosema, hike through old cocoa plantations and enjoy the magnificent view of the town of Neves.       Today itโ€™s time to say goodbye, but before you do, you can once again fully enjoy life in the city of Sรฃo Tomรฉ. On a guided city tour, you will visit the national museum in the old Sรฃo Sebastiรฃo fortress (1675), see the cathedral and colorful colonial houses, stroll through the lively city market and enjoy a delicious hot or cold chocolate in the cafรฉ. Afterwards, you can buy some last-minute souvenirs before a transfer takes you to the airport in time for your flight.
