  • Day 1 Day 1: Santo Domingo

      Day 1: Santo Domingo

      You will be picked up from the airport and taken to Luca Hotel in the Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo. Take the rest of the day to explore the streets of the colonial city, restaurants, bars and shops on your own.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Santo Domingo

      Day 2: Santo Domingo

      The capital of the Dominican Republic combines modernity with an emerging economy and the historical center of the city, the "Zona Colonial" making this a very special place. During a private, two-hour guided tour through the "Zona Colonial", you will follow the footsteps of Columbus and will (among other things) see the oldest cathedral of the New World, castles, ruins and the residence of Columbusยดs son, Don Diego. You will also visit a cigar manufacturer, where you can see the production of the popular Dominican cigars. 

      Afterwards, enjoy a tropical welcome beverage at the Dominican Expert office and receive useful information regarding your trip. After lunch, you might want to take a bus or taxi to get to know other places outside the old town of Santo Domingo. One of the options would be a visit to the fascinating "Los Tres Ojos" (Three Eyes), which is part of a collapsed cave system beneath the city. The evening will be available for you to explore the vibrant nightlife of Santo Domingo.

  • Day 3 Day 3: Santo Domingo - Jarabacoa

      Day 3: Santo Domingo - Jarabacoa

      After breakfast your roundtrip begins and you will first drive into the heartland of the country, passing cocoa, rice, banana and coffee plantations. On a well-developed mountain road you reach the Rancho Baiguate in Jarabacoa, the "city of eternal spring" snuggled at the base of the mountains surrounded by majestic beauty. Upon arrival, a traditional Dominican lunch is served at Rancho Baiguate. The rest of the day is at your free disposal where you have time to explore the surrounding area of Jarabacoa or relax on the premises of Rancho Baiguate.

      Please note: Nature lovers, adventurers and those seeking tranquility, have the opportunity to stop at Valle Nuevo National Park between Santo Domingo and Jarabacoa to spend the night in the highest hotel of the Caribbean at 7,200 ft above sea level. The accommodation, cozy wooden chalets in the mountains with a great mountain panorama, is surrounded by pine forests and alpine meadows and is equipped with warm blankets and a fireplace, as the temperature can go below zero at night.

      To reach this accommodation, we would highly recommend taking the road going through the National Park Valle Nueva (via Constanza). You will drive along an impressive landscape, through mountainous areas up to 8,200 ft (the highest road of the Caribbean) with breathtaking sceneries and on rough and rocky paths passing by unique nature. However, please note that it will be necessary to rent a SUV for this route. If you would like to take this opportunity please let us know so that we can quote the itinerary with an SUV for you (approx. 30 USD additional per day).

      After breakfast you can choose one of the following activities:

      The afternoon is at your free disposal at Rancho Baiguate; if you like you can tour the amazing surrounding with your rental car, with lots of waterfalls to be explored on your own

  • Day 5 Day 5: Jarabacoa โ€“ Punta Rucia

      Day 5: Jarabacoa โ€“ Punta Rucia

      Today the trip will continue to the city of Santiago where you will see the famous Monument of Santiago. It was designed in 1944 by the architect Henry Gazon Bona. After the fall of the Dictator Trujillo, it was given the name of "Monument to the Heroes of the Revolution", which it retains to this day.

      From there, you will follow the Hispaniola coast northwest, arriving at the small idyllic fishing town of Punta Rucia. At the Lodge of Punta Rucia, where you will stay for the night you can relax and let the evening end with a nice tropical drink on the beautiful beach.

      Day 6: Punta Rucia

      After breakfast you might want to go on a fishing boat which will take you to a small island with a surface area of only 200 square meters and sand as white as snow. The greatest natural pageantry however takes place under the water where the coral reefs provide a magnet for vast varieties of colorful fish and other marine life. Snorkeling in this spectacular natural habitat is an unforgettable experience. The return trip to Punta Rucia takes you through the mangroves of the National Park. In the afternoon you can relax at the quite beach or at your eco-lodges own pool.

  • Day 7 Day 7: Punta Rucia โ€“ Tubagua

      Day 7: Punta Rucia โ€“ Tubagua

      After breakfast, the journey continues along the north coast. Before arriving in Tubagua, todayโ€™s destination, you can stop at the 27 waterfalls for an exciting canyoning tour (entrance + guide approximately 15 USD per person, to be paid on the spot).  Here you first go on a 0.5 - 1.5 hour hike through lush nature (depending on the number of waterfalls you want to see), and then the adventure starts - you jump and swim through various crystal-clear waterfalls, a unique experience. As an alternative, you can take the cable car (or walk up) early in the morning to the table mountain of Puerto Plata "Monte Isabel Torres" (ticket must be bought and paid on site; approx. 5 USD per person). Once at the top, a beautiful observation deck awaits you with a spectacular view of Puerto Plata, the surrounding areas and the coastline, as well as a walkway through a small botanical garden, where you can take a little stroll. Then itโ€™s on to Tubagua, a sustainable eco-lodge with a spectacular view of the north coast of the Dominican Republic. The Eco-Lodge has a very unique flair, which is especially made for individualists and nature lovers who are looking for an authentic experience. The omnipresent and spectacular sea view, which you can enjoy while showering, and the common terrace with panoramic views, which you can not only use to enjoy homemade Dominican meals with other guests, but also to ponder about life or the rest of your vacation on the north coast with a Dominican rum or a cigar. Here you can spend a relaxing afternoon and evening and explore the surroundings further.

      Day 8: Tubagua

      Today you spend the day in Tubagua. During your stay, you can learn more about the concept of sustainability, because the Eco-Lodge is committed to this concept: in addition to unconditional recycling and locally produced food, it relies on a specially designed sewage system and employs almost exclusively workers directly from the nearby village.

      We recommend that you go on an excursion in the area with a local guide, which you can book on site as you wish. Among other things, the following excursions are offered:

      - A guided hike through the lush nature to a beautiful little waterfall with a natural swimming pool 

      - A trip to a typical Dominican village, where you can learn more about the everyday life and culture of the Dominicans

      - A guided hike to learn more about the local flora and fauna

      Today the journey goes back to the north coast, further east until you reach Playa Grande, which is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. Here you can order a tasty lunch right on the beach with Dominican specialties such as grilled lobster, fried fish or chicken with rice, salad and plantains. Then you continue along the rough and spectacular north coast until you reach the Samanรก peninsula. Your destination today is El Valle. This place is a real insider tip and the accommodation "Unique Eco Lodge" - as the name suggests - is absolutely unique, beautifully embedded in tropical nature, a breathtaking view of the lush vegetation from the bedroom and connected to nature. In the hotel you can rent bicycles to get to the pristine, beautiful beach in just a few minutes (or by car).

      Today you spend the day in El Valle, completely at your own disposal. The friendly hotel owners will be happy to tell you more about the hidden treasures, waterfalls and beautiful natural surroundings and to give you further tips for your trip. Or, you can simply spend a relaxing day on the beach.

      Today you will head towards Las Galeras, an idyllic fishing town at the eastern-most end of the Samana peninsula. From your accommodation, the eco-lodge Casa Paraiso, you can enjoy a spectacular view over the ocean, while it has a cool infinity-pool and a room without front wall, with lots of privacy, allowing you to soak deep into the natural surroundings.

  • Day 12 Day 12: Las Galeras

      Day 12: Las Galeras

      In the morning you will drive to Santa Barbara de Samanรก where you will have the chance to see humpback whales splash in the warm water of the Samanรก bay during the mating season from the beginning of January until mid-March. You will go on a boat excursion to see these giant marine mammals in their natural environment. A really unique experience! If you are not traveling during the whale season, the boat tour will take you through the National Park โ€œLos Haitisesโ€. Cruising through secluded islets, bays and rock formations you will visit the โ€œLas Lineasโ€ and the โ€œSan Gabrielโ€ cave. In the caves you can find painting and carvings of the Tainos, the indigenous inhabitants of the Dominican Republic. On your tour you will see an incredible variety of birds. Both tours will make a stop on the island of Cayo Levantado afterwards, which is home to one of the most beautiful beaches in the Dominican Republic. Here you can enjoy some free time on the beach and a delicious lunch, before it goes back to Samanรก around 4 pm.

      Today you have the opportunity to explore the exciting surrounding in Las Galeras. Among many other attractions is Playa Rincon, one of the best beaches in the Caribbean, as well as Playa Frontรณn, a small hidden beach, which is only accessible by boat. Snorkeling is divine at Playa Frontรณn. Another option is a visit to Playita beach, where you can enjoy a tasty lunch with typical Dominican delicacies like fried fish or chicken with salad and plantain.

  • Day 14 Day 14: Las Galeras โ€“ Santo Domingo

      On your last day you will drive along a well-developed highway across the island directly to the international airport โ€™Las Americasโ€™ of Santo Domingo, where you can drop off your rental car and fly back home with lots of fond memories of your journey through the Dominican Republic.
