      Early morning arrival in Samarkand, the important metropolis on the Silk Road. Your tour guide will welcome you and take you to your hotel for rest. Still in the afternoon, you will proceed to the world-famous Registan Square with the medreses Ulugbek, Tilla-Kori and Sher-Dor. Your dinner in a typical Uzbek restaurant will crown the exciting first day. Overnight stay at the hotel.

      Today you will visit the sights of the over 2700 years old city (UNESCO World Heritage Site): the mosque Bibi-Khanym, the old bazaar, the impressive mausoleum complex Shashi-Sinda and in the afternoon the observatory of Ulugbek and the mausoleum of Gur-Emir.       In the morning you will drive to the border about 40 km away. There you will change into Tajik vehicles and the journey through Tajikistan will begin. An excursion to the Seven Lakes is on the agenda for the next two days. The lakes impress with their different shapes and colors, ranging from turquoise blue to black. They are embedded in the beautiful landscape of the Shing Valley, which means green garden. In the afternoon there will be some time for individual exploration. You will spend the night in a beautifully situated guesthouse in the settlement of Nofin. (Driving distance approx. 120 km, walking time approx. 2-3h).

      Starting from your guesthouse, you will take a beautiful day hike to Hazorchashma Lake. Optionally, the hike can be extended or shortened. Overnight stay as on the previous day. (Walking time approx. 6h, 13 km).

      You will first leave the mountains and make a stopover in Pendzhikent. During a sightseeing tour you will get to know the city. The almost completely preserved Sogdian ruined city of Pendzhikent is considered the "Pompeii of Central Asia". In the afternoon you will have free time. Overnight stay in the guest house.       The mountain lake Iskanderkul (Alexander Lake) is your destination for today. There is no way around it. In Punjrud you will stop for a short visit to the mausoleum of the Tajik-Persian poet Abuabdullo Rudaki. If there is still time in the afternoon, you will make a first excursion. Legend has it that Alexander the Great had to leave his beloved horse Bukephalos here. On full moon nights it rises from the water and grazes on the meadows or you can see the horseโ€™s mane chasing over the water. Overnight stay in wooden hut. (Driving distance 150 km).

      In the morning there may be time for an excursion to the surrounding area. In the morning you will drive back to Dushanbe. In the afternoon you will take a tour of the city, whose literal translation means Monday, as in the past the market was always held on Mondays in the village center. You will visit the bazaar and the Tajik National Museum. With all the culture, however, relaxation will not be neglected, preferably in one of the Central Asian tea houses. Overnight stay at the hotel. (Driving distance about 130 km).

      On the way to Kalaikum your first stop will be at Nurek reservoir. On a pass before Shurobod you will be checked for the first time the GBAO stamp, which is the special permit to travel to the Pamir region. Towards evening you will reach Kalaikum, where you will be hosted by a Pamiri family for the first time. Overnight stay in homestay. (Driving distance about 360 km).

      On spectacular dirt road and winding through a narrow valley, the journey takes you along the Tajik-Afghan border. At noon you will reach Khorog and first visit the museum, where you will learn a lot about the region, nature and the country and its people. In the afternoon you will drive to the pride of the Pamiris, to one of the highest botanical gardens in the world (2320 m), which towers high above the city. You will be amazed not only by the richness of species at this altitude, but also by the wonderful view over Khorog. Overnight stay in a nice pension in the green. (Driving distance about 220 km).

      Itโ€™s an early start as another day of interesting adventures awaits today. You will leave Khorog and first drive up to the famous spring terraces of Garm Shashma. These hot springs of about 50-60ยฐ C invite you for a relaxing bath. Shortly before Ishkashim the view of the Hindu Kush becomes clear. The Wakhan corridor is one of the most interesting and beautiful regions of the Pamirs. Along the way you will visit the fortress of Kachkacha. You will reach your day destination Jamg in the late afternoon. Overnight stay in homestay. (Driving distance about 200 km).

      You can take this day at leisure. Enjoy your time in this wonderfully tranquil valley and take a tour of Jamg. You will visit the village museum and the famous solar calendar of Surfi Muborak Kadam, the mystic, astronomer and musician. The hot springs of Bibi Fatima as well as the fortress of Jamchun are also worthwhile destinations in the area. From the fortress at 3200 m you have a fantastic view over the wide valley and across to the white peaks of the Hindu Kush. It is only 7 km to the fortress and another 7 to the hot springs, where you can relax wonderfully. Overnight stay as on the previous day.

      It is only a few kilometers to Vrang. A hike leads to a stupa where a footprint of Buddha is said to be immortalized. In consultation with the group, the hike can still be continued up the Vrang Valley to the waterfall. In the afternoon the journey continues to Langar (2850 m), the last place of the Wakhan Corridor on the Tajik side. Towards the evening, take an excursion to the petroglyph rock or to the local museum. Overnight stay in homestay. (Driving distance about 75 km, walking time about 2-3h).

      In the morning, you will set out for the high plateau of Murghab region. After Khargush village, you will cross the pass of the same name (4344 m). The lakes Bulunkul and Yashikul are located in an impressive lunar landscape. On foot you will hike to the big Yashikul lake (3719 m), a nice change from the long car rides. The trail presents no difficulties and can be extended or shortened at any time. You will be picked up later and drive to Alichur to your homestay. (Driving distance about 180 km, walking time about 3-4h, 10-12 km).

      We continue our journey to Murghab. The town at 3630 m is the administrative center in the Eastern Pamirs. Highlight of the place is the view to Muztagh Ata (7546 m) in China, which is about 100 km away. The inhabitants, majority Kyrgyz, run a small bazaar. The journey continues to Lake Karakul, 130 km away. You will drive over the Akbaital Pass (4655 m), the highest point of this trip. On the shores of the lake, herds of yaks graze, creating beautiful photo opportunities with the Alai Range in the background. Overnight stay at the homestay in Karakul. (Driving distance approx. 260 km).

      Slowly you will say goodbye to Tajikistan. The Tajik border is located high in the mountains. Then you will cross the Kysil Art Pass (4336 m) to Sary Tash in Kyrgyzstan. Now it is not far to the base camp of Peak Lenin (3600 m) in Pamiro-Alai valley, where you will spend the night. Overnight stay in tents. (Driving distance about 160 km).

      You will say goodbye to the high mountains and drive via Sary Tash to oriental Osh. In the afternoon you will visit the 1110 m high rock massif Suleiman-Too, the landmark of the 3000-year-old city of Osh, which is the first UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kyrgyzstan since 2009. Overnight stay in hotel. (Driving distance 250 km).
