      Already the first bike tour brings you to a special highlight, the famous lighthouse at Cape St. Vincent, the most southwestern point in Europe. From the cliffs rising vertically out of the Atlantic, almost 75 meters high, you have a spectacular view over the sea and can hear the roaring waves. Over gentle hills you will cycle to the fishing village of Salema and on to Burgau beach. You will be impressed by the famous Ponta da Piedade at the gates of Lagos, a magnificent natural monument and one of the most famous postcard motifs of the Algarve. In the lively harbor town of Lagos you will review the exciting day with a good glass of wine.

      The beach of Meia offers you the first opportunity to take a dip in the refreshing sea today. Watch here at low tide countless shell collectors in search of delicacies. In Odiรกxere it is worth to visit the church from the 16th century and in Alvor to stroll over the city market Morabito de Sรฃo Pedro and through the narrow streets of the old town. Here, treat yourself to a break in a typical restaurant with freshly caught fish. With fantastic views over the sea you cycle further along the coast. Stop at the beautiful sandy beach of Praia da Rocha before arriving in Portimao in the afternoon.

      To start, the bike path accompanies you along the Arade River to the village of Ferragudo with its beautiful church and magnificent views over the estuary. The route continues past olive, cypress, orange, fig and cork oak trees to Lagoa. There you should try traditional Portuguese pastries and visit the Senhora da Rocha Chapel, located on a rocky outcrop overlooking the sea. Extensive sandy beaches lie along the way to one of the Algarveโ€™s most famous resorts. Albufeira is also your stage destination.

      In the fishing village of Olhos de รgua there is a beautiful beach where you can take a break. Let the fresh sea air blow around your nose and enjoy the fine sand under your feet. In Vilamoura you will pass one of the largest marinas in the country and then cycle through the pine forests towards the Ria Formosa Nature Park, one of the seven natural wonders of Portugal. In the distance, the capital of the Algarve, Faro, already appears. Discover the famous old town with its nice restaurants and lively alleys.

      Along the bike path you continue through the Ria Formosa Nature Park Always keeping an eye on the offshore islands, the few clouds over the Atlantic are reflected in the salt lakes. In Olhรฃo you can take a coffee break at the busy market and watch the locals doing their daily errands. Afterwards, you will leisurely cycle on to the fishing village of Fuseta with its typical white houses. Todayโ€™s cycling day ends on the time-honored Roman bridge in the center of Tavira. Enjoy the evening in one of the most beautiful and typical towns of the Algarve.

      Also today the natural park Ria Formosa with its lagoons is your companion. You will roll through the pine forest at the beach of Monte Gordo and the dune forest of Vila Real de Santo Antรณnio to the border between Portugal and Spain. You follow the border river Guadiana a bit to the north before you cycle over gentle hills, past orange and olive groves back towards Tavira. At the latest now you should toast to a successful and very eventful cycling tour.
