Day 1: BUCHAREST – SIBIU

Continue on the way to the area of Sibiu, crossing the Carpathian mountains. Lunch in Sibiu.

Walking tour of the Sibiu’s Old District. Sibiu is one of the most important fortified towns in Transylvania and it was founded in 1190 and grew to be the chief city of the Transylvanian Saxons. This amazing town, with the "Old Town" (The Big Square, the Small Square, The staircase Tower, the Tanners Tower, the Liar’s Bridge , the House of the Butcher’s Guild , etc.

Next we’ll stop in an old village from Sibiu area. You can enjoy a horse driven wagon tour in the old village. Learn more about the local traditions and way of living, visit an icon painting museum and a local household. Traditional dinner in a local house..

Day 2: SIBIU – HUNEDOARA - ALBA IULIA – CLUJ NAPOCA

In the morning we’ll go to Hunedoara to visit the biggest medieval castle from Romania – Corvin’s (Hunyad) Castle, dating since 15th century.

We’ll continue to Alba Iulia, a city with long history dating since the ancient times. Visit the Orthodox Cathedral, Catholic Cathedral, the fortification system built in “Vauban” style. Lunch in Alba Iulia.

Next stop at Desesti. Visit the wooden church (UNESCO). Maramures is a land where you can enjoy great countryside landscapes, old villages, local people with their beautiful folk costumes. We’ll visit some local craftsmens as a traditional weaver, a wood carver, a water mill, traditional household, etc.

Next we’ll visit Sapanta Merry Cemetery (UNESCO) a place unique in the World.

Stop At: Barsana Monastery, Kloster, Barsana 437035 Romania
Visit at Barsana Monastery, a good example of monahal life in Maramures and for the architecture of wooden buildings.

End the day in Botiza village. Visit a local household to see and understand more about the way of living in these villages. Visit a local sheepyard (summer time only)

Day 4: MARAMURES – BUCOVINA (GURA HUMORULUI)

In the morning we’ll visit the Maramures Woman Museum - Dragomiresti, where you can learn about local traditions and way of live.

Pass By: Prislop Pass, Romania
Next we’ll cross the Carpathians mountains heading north-east to one of the most famous and popular region of Romania – Bucovina, the land of painted monasteries. It is a very scenic road which offer amazing landscapes.

Stop At: Moldovita Monastery, Vatra Moldovitei 727595 Romania
We’ll visit couple of the most important monasteries (UNESCO sites):

Moldovita monastery (UNESCO): dates back from 1532 and is due to the ruling prince Petru Rares

It has the aspect of a fortress, with imposing towers and high, thick walls.

Sucevita monastery : the last and the most magnificent monastic achievement among the painted monasteries in Bucovina , looks as a real fortress, with towers, buttresses and watch roads. Built in 1581, by one bishop, it was dedicated to the Assumption in 1584.

Day 5: GURA HUMORULUI - SIGHISOARA

Departure in the morning. First visit at Voronet Monastery, founded in 1488 by Stephen the Great . It is the most accomplished sample of artistic achievement in Moldavian architecture and painting. .

We’ll continue across the Carpathian mountains, back to Transylvania. We’ll pass in our way the amazing Bicaz Gorges and Red Lake. Lunch in the area.

Day 6: SIGHISOARA – SASCHIZ - PREJMER – BRASOV

Stop At: Sighisoara Historic Center, Piata Cetatii Nr.1 Center of Sighisoara, Sighisoara 545400 Romania
We’ll start the day with a visit on the medieval town of Sighisoara (UNESCO), also called “The Pearl of Transylvania” a wonderful medieval city where you can still enjoy the medieval atmosphere. The old town is considered one of the best preserved medieval towns from Europe and its included in the UNESCO heritages list.

Stop At: Pivnita Bunicii, Str Principala 354, Saschiz 547510 Romania
Next we’ll drive through an area of old Transylvania villages which preserve their architecture and customs. Stop at Saschiz village, which it is famous for its natural home-made jams. Visit and jam tasting in a local producer shop.

Stop At: Peasant Fortified Church at Prejmer, East side of the Brasov Depression, Prejmer 507165 Romania
Next we’ll visit the fortified church from Prejmer (UNESCO), dating since 13th century and having an unique defensive architecture.

Stop At: Brasov Historical Center, Piazza Sfatului, Brasov Romania
End the day in Brasov. In the afternoon walking tour of the medieval center of Brasov (2 hours). The city of Brasov is one of the oldest in Europe, dating from 1235. During the Middle Ages, Brasov was known as a powerful fortress surrounded by high stone walls and defended by bulwarks, towers and other small fortresses. Concil Square, Black Church, White and Black Towers, Weaver’s Bastion and Ecaterina’s Gate are the tour highlights.

Day 7: BRASOV – BRAN – SINAIA - BUCHAREST

In the morning we’ll visit famous Bran castle. Also called Dracula`s Castle, the castle got its fame from Dracula`s legend written in 1897 by Bram Stoker. The first documents about the Bran Castle appeared in 1377.

Continue to Sinaia and visit the Peles Castle, former summer residence of the kings of Romania.
