      On arrival in Rio today, check in to your hotel before enjoying time to recharge or stroll along the stunning Copacabana beachfront. Join a Welcome Reception tonight.

      Soak up Rio de Janeiroโ€™s unique atmosphere with most of the day at leisure. In the evening, embark on a picturesque sunset cable car ride up to the majestic peak of Sugarloaf Mountain, where sublime views await.

      Head to Corcovado Mountain and visit the astonishing statue of Christ the Redeemer, thought to be one of the largest art deco-style sculptures in the world.       Fly from Rio de Janeiro to Iguassu Falls, a system of 275 falls on the border of Argentina and Brazil. On the Brazilian side, experience the majesty of World Heritage-listed Iguassu National Park during a half-day tour. Walk through the spectacular subtropical rainforest and take in breathtaking panoramic views of the falls.

      On the Argentinian side, ride the Rainforest Ecological Train to a series of walkways and viewing points. This narrow gauge train stops at several locations including one that leads to the 82-metre-high Devilโ€™s Throat, one of the most spectacular falls of the region.       Your in-depth tour of Buenos Aires commences this morning along the Avenida de Mayo. At the Plaza de Mayo, admire the pink Casa Rosada, a palatial building that houses the offices of the Argentine president. Youโ€™ll also see the cityโ€™s cathedral as well as the Cabildo, Buenos Airesโ€™ first city hall. Later, explore the Italian-influenced barrio of La Boca and its famously colourful pedestrian street, the Caminito. Youโ€™ll also travel along Avenida 9 de Julio.

      This morning after breakfast youโ€™ll board your flight for the southern town of Ushuaia, known as the gateway to Antarctica. Here, your Expedition Ship, the M/V Ocean Atlantic, is waiting for you to board. This evening set sail across the Drake Passage towards the South Shetland Islands and Antarctica.

      Day 10: At Sea

      As you make our way southwards, today is spent at sea. The excitement builds as the Antarctic wildlife begins to come into view. Keep both eyes open for birds such as albatross and petrels, and perhaps first sightings of penguins, seals and whales. Perhaps take the time to partake in a photography workshop on board, in preparation for your excursions.

      Today is again spent at sea. Continue your wildlife spotting on deck, warming up with complimentary hot drinks when needed, or perhaps enjoy the lectures on board, ranging from the history of the polar explorers, to the impact of climate change on the Antarctic and its wildlife, and Antarcticaโ€™s geology and biology.

      Today you will begin the first of many excursions, as you explore the Sub-Atlantic South Shetland Islands by zodiac and foot. The captain expertly navigates the outside conditions to provide trouble free landings which offer captivating landscapes and wildlife encounters.

      Another day in and around these islands bring more adventure. Weather permitting, explore islands such as Deception Island, and an extinct volcano where the water is warm enough for a polar swim โ€“ for the brave!

      Day 14: Antarctic Peninsula

      As we approach the Antarctic Peninsula, the planned route includes highlights such as Cuverville Island, Gerlache Strait, the Lemaire Channel. Here youโ€™ll see several different species of penguin, from chinstrap, to Adรฉlie and cheeky Gentoo. Seals may be spotted relaxing back on the ice and the scenery offers some great photography opportunities.

      Enjoy another day exploring the Antarctic Peninsula today, enjoying all that this wonderful continent has to offer.

      Itโ€™s time to depart Antarctica waters for the return crossing of the Drake Passage and back to the South American continent. Enjoy further lectures on board, work out in the gym, or grab a book from the ships library to further your knowledge of the white continent.

      Today enjoy the maritime honour of cruising past Cape Horn by claiming a spot on the observation deck, looking out for wildlife. Spend some time in the ships lounge with new found friends, reflecting on your Antarctic adventure.
