      Shuttle transfer to the accommodation. In the evening 6 p.m. discussion of the tour with the tour guide in the hotel lounge. Discussion of the tour. Overnight stay at the hotel.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Auckland - Coromandel Peninsula - Hauraki Rail Trail

      Day 2: Auckland - Coromandel Peninsula - Hauraki Rail Trail

      Breakfast together. Ride to the Coromandel Peninsula. The bikes are distributed at the depot in Thames. Start of the first stage on the Hauraki Rail Trail to the village of Waihi. Stage: Thames - Waihi: route through farmland on a former railroad line; crossing the Karangahake Gorge to Waihi. By bus back to Thames. (Length approx. 62 km). Overnight stay in a hotel.

      Day 3: Thames - Hauraki Rail Trail - Rotorua

      The cycling stage starts today from Paeroa. Take the Hauraki Rail Trail to Te Aroha, an old spa town, and from there on farm side roads to Te Poi. The tour bus ride to Rotorua takes about 1 hour. The town is the cultural center of the Maori, the first inhabitants of New Zealand. Stage route: Paeroa - Te Poi: Flat route. (Length approx. 55 km). Overnight stay in a hotel.

  • Day 4 Day 4: Rotorua - Lake Taupo

      Day 4: Rotorua - Lake Taupo

      Maori culture, volcanoes and the smell of sulphur characterize this important thermal area. A few kilometers before the town of Taupo, the cycle stage starts at a beautiful thermal park, hidden in a remote side valley. Geysers and hot springs provide an insight into five million years of geological history. Then itโ€™s on to Huka Falls and, after a hike along the Waikato River (the Rhine of New Zealand), to the town of Taupo. Stage: Orakei Geyserland Mountainous route on farm - side roads, length: approx. 35km/hike Geyser Park approx. 1.5h. Hike Huka Falls (waterfalls) to Taupo: approx. 1h. Overnight stay in a motel.

  • Day 5 Day 5: Cycle Tour Around Lake Taupo

      Day 5: Cycle Tour Around Lake Taupo

      Cycle tour along Lake Taupo across farmland to Lake Mangakino. Here you will have lunch and the opportunity to swim. Those who wish can cycle back to Taupo from here on a different route, the rest of the group will take the tour bus to Taupo. Stage: From Taupo, the route leads along the lake through a hilly landscape via farm roads to Lake Mangakino. (Length: approx. 60 km). Overnight stay as on the previous day.

  • Day 6 Day 6: Taupo - Wanganui

      Day 6: Taupo - Wanganui

      After breakfast, the escort bus takes you through Tongariro National Park, New Zealandโ€™s oldest national park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. One of New Zealandโ€™s most beautiful cycle routes, the Whanganui River Road, awaits you at Pipiriki. The lonely route leads through small villages such as Jerusalem to the coastal town of Wanganui. Stage route: From Pipiriki, the first third of the route is downhill. This is followed by some medium climbs with beautiful descents. (Length: approx. 60 km extension to Wanganui 100 km). In the event of the Whanganui River flooding and the associated construction work on the route, a compensatory section is planned. Overnight stay in a motel.

  • Day 7 Day 7: Wanganui - Wellington

      Day 7: Wanganui - Wellington

      In the morning, continue along the west coast to the capital Wellington. On the way, stop at one of the most beautiful stretches of beach in this region - hike by the sea approx. 1-2 hours. You arrive in Wellington in the early afternoon - there is an opportunity to visit the Te Papa National Museum. You spend the night in a trendy district of the metropolis. No cycling stage. Overnight stay in hotel.

  • Day 8 Day 8: Wellington - Picton - Motueka/Abel Tasman National Park

      Day 8: Wellington - Picton - Motueka/Abel Tasman National Park

      In the early morning, take the ferry to Picton on the South Island. Continue through the Marlborough region. Spoiled by the sun, New Zealandโ€™s best wine varieties grow here. The local wineries produce a variety of excellent wines, such as Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc. The cycle stage takes you on back roads along the Motueka River to the small town of Motueka, the gateway to New Zealandโ€™s smallest but also most beautiful national park, the Abel Tasman National Park. Stage route: Downhill on minor roads with a few gentle climbs to Motueka. (Length: approx. 55 km). Overnight stay in a hotel.

      Day 9: Excursion To The Abel Tasman National Park

      You can organize this day individually. The Abel Tasman National Park with its golden beaches is considered by many guests to be the epitome of paradise. There are numerous options, e.g. a day hike on the Abel Tasman Coast Track, one of the most popular hiking trails in New Zealand (approx. 3-4 hours). Other options: Swimming, boat tours or a kayak tour in the bay. If you wish, you can also cycle on this day. The tour guide will give you information about the route on site. Overnight stay as on the previous day.

  • Day 10 Day 10: Motueka - Hokitika
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 10: Motueka - Hokitika

      Transfer day to the wild west coast to Hokitika. This day will offer two highlights. The characteristic rock formations of the Pancake Rocks. At high tide and in strong westerly winds, so-called "blowholes" push fountains of spray explosively out of the rocky coastline at various points. After this impressive spectacle, the excursion becomes quieter. A short hike leads into the gorge of the Pororari River. This track formed the backdrop for the award-winning film drama "The Piano", which won three Oscars with Holly Hunter and Sam Neill. Continue to Hokitika, the center of jade and gold mining in New Zealand. The town is also known for its beach because of the driftwood that washes up there. During a walk along the shores of the wild Tasman Sea in the evening sun, you can hardly escape the palpable inner peace that takes hold of you. Stage: No cycling stage. Overnight stay in a motel.

      Day 11: Cycling Stage To Lake Kaniere

      Todayโ€™s stage starts from the accommodation and leads to one of the most beautiful lakes in New Zealandโ€™s Southern Alps, Lake Kaniere. Lunch time and opportunity for a swim. Then itโ€™s back to Hokitika through rainforest and farmland. The tour guide will be with the group in the tour bus. Stage route: Hokitika - Lake Kaniere - Hokitika: A few gentle climbs and descents in the first third, then continue on a flat route. Finally a descent to Hokitika. (Length: approx. 65 km, the cycle stage can be extended with a detour to Hokitika Gorge. Total distance then approx. 110 km). Overnight stay as on the previous day.

  • Day 12 Day 12: Hokitika - Haast Pass - Wanaka

      Day 12: Hokitika - Haast Pass - Wanaka

      Early in the morning, drive to the Franz Josef Glacier. Hike to a viewpoint, then continue to a mountain lake. In good, windless weather, you can experience a unique natural spectacle on a 1.5-hour hike around the lake. After sunrise, the highest mountains in New Zealand are reflected in the surface of the water. Then breakfast and onwards in the tour bus - through evergreen rainforest and over the longest single-lane bridge in New Zealand to the Haast Pass in Mt Aspiring National Park: "pure nature". You then continue to the idyllic village of Wanaka with its famous Wanaka Tree. Stage: No cycling stage. Overnight stay at the resort.

  • Day 13 Day 13: Wanaka - Queenstown

      Day 13: Wanaka - Queenstown

      From the hotel, take the tour bus to the starting point of todayโ€™s cycling stage. The cycle tour takes you to the Cardrona Hotel, one of New Zealandโ€™s oldest hotels, built in 1863. The bus then takes you to Arrowtown. After a stop in the former gold mining town, continue to Queenstown, the adventure playground of the Kiwis, as the New Zealanders like to call themselves. Stage route: Wanaka - Cardrona Hotel The first 20 km lead past Lake Wanaka and have a few climbs as well as very nice descents. The rest of the route climbs slowly up to the Cardrona Hotel. (Total length approx. 50 km). Overnight stay at the resort.

      Day 14: Time For Your Own Explorations In Queenstown

      A free day in Queenstown offers countless optional activities, whether jet boat, bungee jump, a steamboat trip on Lake Wakatipu followed by a visit to a farm, or a bike tour to Arrowtown, the old gold mining town. Of course, you can also take a day trip to the famous Milford Sound followed by a boat trip. Note: The excursion to Milford Sound can be booked with us on site or in advance. Day trip by bus and including boat trip takes approx. 8 hours. Flight options are also possible. Overnight stay as on the previous day.

  • Day 15 Day 15: Otago Rail Trail - Ranfurly

      Day 15: Otago Rail Trail - Ranfurly

      For the next two days, you will continue through Central Otago on the Otago Rail Trail, a former railroad line dating back to the gold mining era (1879). One of the most beautiful sections of the Otago Rail Trail runs from Lauder via Wedderburn to Ranfurly through tunnels and over viaducts. Stage route: Otago Rail Trail Lauder - Wedderburn - Ranfurly: The old railroad embankment was converted into a cycle path a few years ago and is a popular cycle route in New Zealand. The route initially runs flat and straight ahead over viaducts and various tunnels, followed by a longer ascent of 2% and finally the descent to Wedderburn. The last section to Ranfurly is flat. (Length approx. 45 km). Light gravel surface. If you wish, you can get on your bike before the starting point and thus extend the route. Overnight stay in a hotel built in Art Deco style far away from the usual tourist routes. Overnight stay in the hotel.

      Day 16: Otago Rail Trail - Oamaru

      The second day on the Otago Rail Trail leads from Ranfurly via Hyde to Middlemarch. Then take the tour bus to the Pacific coast. On the way there you will see Macraes Flat, New Zealandโ€™s largest gold mine, the Moeraki Boulders, round stones by the sea and a colony of rare yellow-eyed penguins. Arrive in the late afternoon in the idyllic town of Oamaru, far away from mass tourism. Stage: Otago Rail Trail Ranfurly - Hyde - Middlemarch: route with constant gradients through tunnels and viaducts. (Length approx. 40 km). Light gravel surface. Overnight stay in a motel.

      Day 17: Oamaru - Twizel

      The cycle tour on the Vanished World Heritage Trail and the "alps2ozean" cycle path leads through a picturesque hilly landscape. Film scenes for Peter Jacksonโ€™s new Hobbit films were shot here in spring 2012. Short hike around the Elephant Rocks rock formation. Stage route: Start on a side road. Continue on cycle paths, mainly hilly terrain, slowly ascending. (Length approx. 55 km). Overnight stay in a hotel.

  • Day 18 Day 18: Twizel - Christchurch

      Day 18: Twizel - Christchurch

      The last cycling stage of the trip takes you along the Ohau Pukaki Tekapo hydro canal to the Pukaki reservoir. If the weather is fine, you will have a view of New Zealandโ€™s highest mountain, Mt. Short city tour on arrival in Christchurch. Stage route: From the hotel to the Ohau Pukaki Tekapo Hydro Canal - Lake Pukaki Mt. Cook Lookout (flat route), continue along Lake Pukaki to the Tekapo Canal (flat route along the lakeshore). The section along Lake Pukaki and 10 km along the Pukaki Canal is light gravel. Length: approx. 50 km). Overnight stay in a motel.

  • Day 19 Day 19: Departure

      Day 19: Departure

      Unfortunately, your last day in New Zealand begins now. Free time until your transfer to the airport and flight home. Tip: Extend your beautiful trip individually, e.g. on the Bay of Island, New Zealandโ€™s subtropical paradise, on the Cook Islands, Fiji or in the Kingdom of Tonga. We would be happy to advise you individually.
