  • Day 2 Day 2: Delhi
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 2: Delhi

After breakfast at the hotel, set out to explore this colorful city. Begin in the old city, driving past the Kotla Firoze Shah, the ruins of an old 14th-century fort, and the Ashokan Pillar from the 3rd century BC. Also visit the Raj Ghat, the Mahatma Gandhi memorial, a simple black marble platform that marks the spot of his cremation. In the afternoon, join a sightseeing tour of New Delhi, which takes you to the new capital designed by Sir Edward Lutyens. Drive past the Presidential Palace and the Secretariat buildings, the center of all government activity, and then, down the main avenue, see the impressive Rajpath and the World War I Memorial Arch, the India Gate. Visit also Humayunโ€™s Tomb, built-in 1565 AD by his grieving widow Haji Begum; the 72-meter-high Qutub Minar minaret; and the ruins of Quwat-ul-Eslam (โ€˜Light of Islamโ€™) Mosque. Itโ€™s the second-largest city in Rajasthan and the gateway to the Thar Desert in the Marwar region. En route, make a stop along the way to visit the Samode Palace, a splendid example of regal Indo-Saracenic architecture. This is one of Indiaโ€™s most fascinating forts, described as โ€œthe sleeping beauty of Rajasthanโ€. comprising a palace of mirrors, a hall of a public audience and beautiful gardens, all of which give a glimpse of the majestic life of a bygone era. After lunch, join an afternoon city tour. Jaipur is the city with the โ€œtone of an autumn sunset.โ€ Visit the Hawa Mahal (โ€˜Palace of Windsโ€™), an elaborate building encrusted with delicate honeycombed screens and carved balconies from which the royal ladies, confined to their quarters, could view the world outside. Later visit the Jantar Mantar, the largest observatory made of stone and marble in the world, built in the 17th century by the founder of Jaipur who, besides being a prince, was also soldier, astronomer, and builder. Also visit the Maharajaโ€™s City Palace, part of which is now a museum. A small portion is still used by the Royal Family of Jaipur. It contains a collection of fine Rajput and Moghul paintings, rare manuscripts and an armory. Overnight in Jaipur in selected hotel and board option.

This monumental walled city was built by Akbar the Great, the third emperor, to be his capital but was abandoned a few years after its completion due to a lack of water. Today, it is a remarkably well-preserved collection of red sandstone palaces, pavilions and mosques. The buildings here present a unique blend of Hindu and Islamic architectural styles and include the Panch Mahal, the Buland Darwaza and the Dargah of Sheikh Salim Chisti, which speak of the grandeur and splendor of the Mughals. Once the visit ends (1.5 hrs), proceed to Agra, where youโ€™ll arrive late in the afternoon and check in to your hotel. Overnight in Agra.

  • Day 6 Day 6: Agra
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 6: Agra

After breakfast, visit the Taj Mahal, one of the wonders of the world. It was built by Shahjahan as a memorial to his wife Mumtaz Mahal by the banks of the Yamuna River after her untimely death. After his own demise, he was placed to rest next to his beloved queen in the same mausoleum. The Taj has been called the most extravagant monument ever built for the sake of love. It took almost 22 years to build and was completed in 1653 thanks to 20,000 workers who came from all over the country and central Asia. Later visit the Agra Fort, the foundations of which were laid by Emperor Akbar in 1565 โ€“ constructions then continued until the time of Shahjahan. The palace is notable for its smooth blending of Hindu and central-Asian architectural styles. The Diwan-i-Am (โ€˜Hall of Public Audiencesโ€™), the Diwan-i-Khas (โ€˜Hall of Private Audiencesโ€™), the Khas Palace, the Sheesh Mahal (โ€˜Palace of Mirrorsโ€™), the Shahjahanโ€™s Palace, the Jahangirโ€™s Palace and Akbarโ€™s palace are all contained inside the fort. From the rear of the Diwan-i-Khas a door leads to Mussaman Burj, a two-storey pavilion where Shahjahan was imprisoned by his son Aurangzeb in his old age. Overnight in Agra.

Then continue by road to Ochha and enjoy a sightseeing tour of the city, visiting the Jehangir Mahal, built in the 17th century by Raja Bir Singh Ju Deo to commemorate the visit of Emperor Jehangir to Orchha. Its strong lines are counterbalanced by its delicate chhatris and trellis work. The Raj Mahal, on the other hand, has a plain exterior crowned by chhatris and an exquisite interior filled with colorful murals on religious themes. The Ram Raja Temple is most unusual, as it is a palace turned temple and where Rama is worshipped as a Raja (โ€˜kingโ€™). The interiors contain the most exquisite of Orchhaโ€™s wall paintings. After the visit, proceed to Khajuraho by road. Upon arrival, check-in at the hotel late in the evening. Overnight in Khajuraho.

  • Day 8 Day 8: Khajuraho โ€“ Allahabad (265 Kms - 6 Hrs)
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 8: Khajuraho โ€“ Allahabad (265 Kms - 6 Hrs)

In the morning, after breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a morning city tour of Khajuraho. Khajuraho was the capital of the Chandela kings and its temples were built in the short span of hundred years, from 950-1050 AD. Most of them were destroyed by Muslim invaders. Adorned with exquisite sculpture, only 22 temples remain of the original 85. They are the strange works of a long-dead people. Khajurahoโ€™s temples are covered with hundreds of sculptured figures - a galaxy of gods and goddesses, beasts and serpents, and a multitude of erotic couples which represent a paean to life, to love and to joy. The most famous is the Kandariya Mahadev, the Chaturbhuj, the Paraswanath, and the Ghantai- the summit of Hindu sculpture: voluptuous forms; human and divine, throbbing with life and sublime in expression. Later you will continue to Allahabad with the stop in Chitrakoot. Also, visit the Kaushambi Monastery and the Jain Temple of Sri Digamber Jain. Upon your arrival at Allahabab, check-in at the hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in Allahabad.

    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 9: Allahabad - Varanasi (150 Km - 4.5 Hrs)

Wake up early in the morning and enjoy your breakfast at the hotel, which will be followed by the visit of the โ€™sangamโ€™ (confluence) of the Ganges, the Yamuna and the mythical river of Saraswati, followed by the fort of Allah, built by Akbar in 1583, the Anand Bhavan, the ancestral residence of the Nehrus, and the Hanuman Mandir, statue of the famous god Hanuman in sleeping position. After the visit of this mythical sacred city we continue towards Varanasi. Upon arrival check in at the hotel. In the late afternoon, you will go for an evening Tour on Ganges to visit Mother India Temple - a unique temple dedicated to Mother India carved with a single piece of marble. The perfect map of undivided India signifies unity in diversity. From here proceed to the Ghats to witness the Aarti Ceremony (Hindu ritual /prayer of river Ganges at Sunset) on bicycle rickshaws. Passing through the crowded bazaars and galis (in the Old part of Varanasi) of this ancient city, small shops illuminated with beautiful lights followed by a short boat ride on Ganges observe the Aarti ceremony amidst jingling of bells, floating of diyas (traditional lamps) and chanting of mantras give an unforgettable experience indescribable in words. Later return to the hotel with Rickshaws. Overnight at hotel in Varanasi.

Day 10: Varanasi - Delhi (1.5 Hrs, By Flight; Not Included)

Wake up early in the morning for a boat ride on the holy river Ganges. Most of the ghats that line the riverโ€™s shore are built with pavilions, palaces and terraces and are mainly used as homes for the pilgrims during their visit to the holy city; each of these 84 ghats has a story to tell. See the sunrise over the Ganges, an event known as โ€˜Subeh Banarasโ€™, a truly soul-lifting experience. At dawn, the ghats are abuzz with activity as the devotees perform their ablutions, offer prayers to the rising sun or practice other religious rituals such as cremations (photographing is prohibited). A boat ride from the Dasaswamedh ghat as it offers an ideal view of these activities. Back to the hotel for breakfast. In the afternoon visit Sarnath, 10 Kms from Varanasi, where Buddha preached his first sermon to five disciples, consecrating the principles of his teaching in laws. Due to the sanctity of the place, it quickly became the main place of pilgrimage for Buddhists within India. The Dhamek stupa marks the location of an ancient monastery, along with a large complex of monastery vestiges in the area to the north. The first communities of monks probably settled here in the third century B. C. Sarnath also has an interesting archaeological museum that preserves the famous Sarnath pillar. In time transfer to the airport to catch the flight to Delhi (not included). Upon your arrival in Delhi, meet and greet our tour representative who will assist you with the transfer to the hotel. Overnight at hotel in Delhi.

In the afternoon enjoy a visit of Patan, the oldest of the three cities of the ancient Kathmandu Valley. Hundreds of temples abound in this city, whose biggest attraction is the Durbar Square, or Palace Complex. The awe-inspiring majesty of the temples in the square gives mute testimony to a multi-century-old civilization brimming with magnificence โ€“ truly the kingdomโ€™s great heritage. It is also known as the handicraft hub of Nepal, for reasons that will be made evident when you walk through its streets. Return to Kathmandu to spend the night. Overnight in Kathmandu.

    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 12: Kathmandu

Wake up to breakfast at the hotel followed by a morning city tour Kathmandu, one of the most picturesque capitals in the world. It is said to contain over 2,000 temples and shrines and was developed to its present shape in 723 AD by King Gunakama Deva. Visit the famous Durbar Square, forever the focal point of the old city. Here are some of the finest temples, palaces and old public buildings of the city. Hanuman Dhoka is the historical palace and temple complex. In this large compound are many different courtyards and buildings, both religious and secular. See also the Telaju Temple, a fine three-tiered temple built in the 16th century. Later visit Swayambhunath; set high on a hill overlooking the valley, itโ€™s a truly haunting location. Its stone steps have been polished by the bare feet of devotees ambling up to the stupa, the oldest (2,500 years) and the highest point in Kathmandu. The main shrine is a fusion of the mandala, chaitya and shikara architectural styles. More steps then lead up to its dome, which represents the five elements: earth, water, wind, fire, and ether. Relax and breathe in its atmosphere of peace and serenity. In the afternoon, visit Boudhnath, one of Nepalโ€™s most distinctive monuments and one of the most important Buddhist sites in Nepal.
