Itinerary of your trip Charming Norway

  • Day 1 Day 1: Oslo - Sandvika
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 1: Oslo - Sandvika

Individual arrival in Oslo. If you have booked a ferry journey, arrival in the morning from Kiel (individual arrival in Kiel the day before and departure in the afternoon) on board a Color Line ferry. Onward journey to Sandvika on the Oslofjord. The proximity to the Norwegian capital and the good public transport connections allow for a relaxed visit to Oslo. One night in Sandvika. Approx. 60 km/approx. 1 hour.

  • Day 2 Day 2: Sandvika - Hallingdal
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 2: Sandvika - Hallingdal

Use the morning for another detour to Oslo or continue your journey along the route. Pass the picturesque Lake Tyris and head into the beautiful Hallingdal valley. One night in Hallingdal. Approx. 130 km/approx. 2.5 hours (breakfast)

  • Day 3 Day 3: Hallingdal - FØRde
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 3: Hallingdal - FØRde

You reach the king of the fjords, the Sognefjord. It is worth exploring the historic wooden town of Lærdal. We also highly recommend a visit to the imposing Borgund Stave Church, which was built around 1180. At the Wild Salmon Center you can learn interesting facts about the annual cycle of the salmon. The fjord ferry (approx. 15 min.) takes you to the north shore of Sogndal and on to the foothills of the Jostedalsbreen glacier, whose ice masses can be seen from the road. If visibility is good, the detour from Lærdal via the Aurlandsfjell panoramic road to Flåm and through the worldโ€™s longest road tunnel (approx. 25 km) back to Lærdal is worthwhile. The detour is about 80 km and takes about 2 hours. Via Skei you reach the Førdefjord. One night in Førde. Approx. 300km/approx. 5.5 hours (breakfast)

  • Day 4 Day 4: FØRde - FosnavÅG
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 4: FØRde - FosnavÅG

The trip along the North Fjord promises both maritime and alpine impressions. It may sound like a contradiction, but that is precisely what makes the Norwegian fjord world so special - mountains and sea at the same time! The Svelgen region impresses with its mighty stone slabs from the Ice Age. We recommend a detour to the imposing Kannestein rock near Måløy, which has the shape of a whaleโ€™s fin and is a popular photo motif. Your destination for the day is the traditional fishing village of Fosnavåg. 2 nights in Fosnavåg. Approx. 280 km/approx. 5 hours (breakfast)

  • Day 5 Day 5: Bird Island Round Trip, ÅLesund
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 5: Bird Island Round Trip, ÅLesund

Organize the day according to your own wishes. Nature lovers can take a trip to the bird island of Runde, which can be reached via several bridges on a beautiful route. The vegetation on the island is different to that on the mainland. You also have the opportunity to observe many different birds, such as puffins. For lovers of architecture and culture, a trip to the pretty Art Nouveau town of Ålesund is well worthwhile. We recommend leaving the car behind and taking the catamaran speedboat from Hareid to Ålesund (optional, approx. 30 min.). Approx. 150 km/approx. 4 hours (breakfast)

  • Day 6 Day 6: FosnavÅG - Surnadal
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 6: FosnavÅG - Surnadal

Todayโ€™s stage takes you across the Moldefjord along the varied coastline with beautiful islands to the Atlantic Road near Kristiansund. Eight artfully curved bridges connect numerous islands with the mainland and offer breathtaking views. The mountain world of the Trollheimen region is an insider tip. The land of the goblins lent its name to the fascinating mountain panoramas. One night in Surnadal. Approx. 310 km/approx. 7 hours (breakfast)

  • Day 7 Day 7: Surnadal - Elverum
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 7: Surnadal - Elverum

On your day trip through a picturesque mountain and river landscape, a stop in the mining town of Røros is worthwhile. It is one of the oldest towns with wooden buildings in Europe and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you should definitely take a look at the picturesque old town with its many well-preserved wooden houses, small cafés and pretty stores. Pass the largest mountain lake, Femunden, on the way to Elverum. Alternatively, we recommend the route through the Peer Gynt kingdom. Through the highlands you reach Skeikampen in the southern Norwegian mountains and continue your route to Elverum. One night in Elverum. Approx. 400 km/approx. 6 hours (breakfast)

  • Day 8 Day 8: Elverum - Oslo
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 8: Elverum - Oslo

Travel to the Norwegian capital. Individual departure or extension stay. If you have booked a ferry trip, departure from Oslo at 2 pm on board a Color Line ferry with arrival in Kiel the following morning at 10 am. Approx. 100 km/approx. 1 hour to the airport or approx. 140 km/approx. 1.5 hours to the ferry terminal (breakfast)
