In the afternoon, you have the option of taking an exciting boat trip through the Klongs of the Chao Phraya River (not included).       Early in the morning, we head towards the former capital of Siam, Ayutthaya, which was destroyed by the Burmese in 1767. The main attractions are the huge bronze statue in the Mongkol Borpith temple and the three historic pagodas in Wat Srisanpetch. After the tour, the journey continues to Phitsanulok, where you will visit the temple Wat Mahathat with its image of the Golden Buddha. You will have lunch at a local restaurant en route. You will stop for a picnic in an orchard and also have the opportunity to learn more about the production of wooden furniture and the art of weaving in a few local craft workshops. The tour then continues to Sukhothai, the former capital of the old kingdom. During a walk through the historical park, you can admire numerous temples, sculptures and stucco work. To the west of the old city, you will come across the remains of the royal temple Wat Sri Chum with its 11 m high seated Buddha statue and reach your overnight hotel in Sukhothai in the late afternoon. You reach the traditional village of Morhom, where fabrics are made that are dyed deep blue by hand with indigo. On the way further north towards Chiang Rai, you stop at the magnificent Wat Rong Khun ("White Temple"). This exquisite white temple stands as a symbol of enlightenment and purity in the Buddhist tradition.       In the morning, you will visit the Mae Sa elephant camp, where the staff have more than 30 years of experience in caring for the "gray giants". The caring mahouts (elephant keepers) will teach you lots of interesting facts about the character of these impressive animals. In the afternoon, after visiting an orchid and butterfly farm in Chiang Mai, the "Rose of the North", you will visit the impressive temple on Mount Doi Suthep, where you will have a panoramic view of the city on a clear day. You will also visit the Wat Suan Dok temple. In the evening, a farewell dinner awaits you back in Chiang Mai at The Riverside Chiang Mai Bar & Restaurant.
