  • Day 1 Day 1: Bangkok - Phitsanulok

      Day 1: Bangkok - Phitsanulok

      (Thursday, Tuesday) Pick up from your separately booked hotel in Bangkok. Early in the morning, take the bus towards the former capital of Siam, Ayutthaya, which was destroyed by the Burmese in 1767. The main attractions are the huge bronze statue in the Mongkol Borpith temple and the three historic pagodas in Wat Srisanpetch. After the sightseeing tour, the journey takes you to Phitsanulok, where you will visit the temple Wat Mahathat with its image of the Golden Buddha. You will have lunch in a local restaurant en route. One night at the Topland Hotel and Convention Center or Imperial Hotel and Convention Center Phitsanulok. (middle class, national category: 3 stars). (Lunch)

  • Day 2 Day 2: Phitsanulok - Sukhothai

      (Friday, Wednesday) In the morning, you will travel to an organic farm where sustainable agriculture is practiced. You will get to know the typical life on a farm and can take part in various activities such as feeding water buffaloes or planting rice. After lunch on the farm, the tour continues to Sukhothai, the former capital of the old kingdom. During a walk through the historical park, you can admire numerous temples, sculptures and stucco work. To the west of the old city, you will come across the remains of the royal temple Wat Sri Chum with its 11-metre-high seated Buddha statue and reach your overnight hotel in Sukhothai in the late afternoon.       (Saturday, Thursday) Before breakfast, you will have the opportunity to watch the morning almsgiving, a Thai tradition that has been passed down through Buddhist tradition for thousands of years. An act of generosity that liberates from greed, avarice and selfishness and instead fills the giver with happiness and joy. Thai children are brought up by their parents to give alms to monks from an early age. You return to your hotel for breakfast. Well fortified, you head north. You will reach Phrae, where you will visit the temple Wat Phra That Suthon Mongkhon Khiri, which is known for its delicate sculptures and Lanna-style buildings made of gold teak, where relics of Lord Buddha are kept and Buddha statues are displayed. You will also find Lanna musical instruments and antique weapons from a bygone era. Then continue to the traditional village of Morhom, where fabrics are made that are dyed deep blue by hand with indigo. On the way further north towards Chiang Rai, stop at the temple Wat Rong Khun ("White Temple"). Continue to Chiang Rai. One night at the Wiang Inn Hotel (middle class, national category: 3 stars).       (Sunday, Friday) Continue to the "Golden Triangle", where the borders of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar meet at the Mekong River. Here you have the opportunity to take a boat trip on the Mekong (not included). You will then visit a traditional Lahu hill tribe village. Finally, you will reach your overnight hotel in Chiang Mai. If your stay in Chiang Mai falls on a Sunday, why not visit the weekend market (Chiang Mai Walking Street). 2 nights at the Siripanna Villa Resort & Spa Chiang Mai, Royal Villa (upper middle class, national category: 4 stars).   • Day 5 Day 5: Chiang Mai

      (Monday, Saturday) In the morning, you will visit the Mae Sa elephant camp, where the staff have more than 30 years of experience in caring for the "gray giants". The caring mahouts (elephant keepers) will teach you lots of interesting facts about the character of these impressive animals. In the afternoon, after visiting an orchid and butterfly farm in Chiang Mai, the "Rose of the North", you will visit the impressive temple on Doi Suthep Mountain, where you will have a panoramic view of the city on a clear day. You will also pay a visit to the Wat Suan Dok temple. In the evening, a farewell dinner awaits you back in Chiang Mai at The Riverside Chiang Mai Bar & Restaurant. Transfer to the hotel by 10 pm at the latest. If you wish to stay longer, the transfer back to the hotel is on your own. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner)
