Day 1: Pompeii - Wine Tasting - Paestum

Benvenuto! Welcome!

We begin our full-day journey with a morning drive to the world-renowned archaeological site of Pompeii. We meet our local expert guide for a guided tour of this well-preserved Roman town destroyed by nearby Mount Vesuvius.

After the tour, a short drive to a vineyard on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius. Here the ancient Romans grew the grapes for the Lacryma Christi (Tears of Christ) wine which is still being produced today. We will have a vineyard tour and then enjoy a wine tasting with lunch.

After our vineyard lunch we drive to Paestum and arrive at our boutique hotel where we will stay for the night.

We enjoy an included gourmet dinner at the hotel.

Day 2 Day 2: Paestum - Cava De’ Tirreni

Day 2: Paestum - Cava De’ Tirreni

After breakfast we have a guided tour of the archaeological site of Paestum. Here you will visit remarkably well-preserved temples with the Temple of Neptune considered one of the three most complete Greek temples in the world.

After our tour, we have a short drive to a farm (caseificio) where Mozzarella di Bufala is produced. We enjoy a leisurely lunch at the farm’s restaurant where you will enjoy a tasting of mozzarella, ricotta and other fresh cheese from the Campania region.

Transfer to Cava de’ Tirreni which will be our base for the remainder of the tour. Your accommodation will be at a 4-star hotel.

Dinner at a rustic restaurant.

Day 3 Day 3: Ravello - Amalfi

Day 3: Ravello - Amalfi

We start our morning with a drive along the Amalfi Coast to breathtaking Ravello. We visit Villa Cimbrone where we enjoy some of the most spectacular panoramic views of the Amalfi Coast and walk through its beautiful gardens. Afterwards, you will have free time to explore the Cathedral and Villa Rufolo on your own.

After our morning in Ravello, we have a short drive to a local trattoria for lunch. We then drive to Amalfi to visit the Cathedral and the Museum of Paper with free time to further explore Amalfi.

Return to Cava de’ Tirreni and enjoy a free night at leisure.

Day 4 Day 4: Royal Palace Of Caserta

Day 4: Royal Palace Of Caserta

A morning guided tour of the stunning Royal Palace of Caserta. The Royal Palace of Caserta is the largest royal residence in the world, with gardens and fountains to rival those of Versailles. The Royal Palace is a masterpiece of 18th-century Baroque architecture and decorated with many works of art. Another stunning feature on the palace grounds is the waterway with water cascading through large sculptures.

We will also visit the surrounding park with fountains and an English botanical garden.

Day 5: Cava De’ Tirreni - Free Day With Optional Activities

Free day to relax or choose one of our optional tours (at an additional cost).

We can discuss your options at the beginning of the tour which may include:

Day trip by local ferry to the island of Capri where you can take a chairlift up Monte Solaro to enjoy the views, visit Villa San Michele, the Certosa di San Giacomo, or the Gardens of Augustus. Discover the cafes, restaurants, and shops of Piazza Umberto I.

Explore the second largest Roman amphitheater in Italy with a visit to the Gladiator Museum. Learn about the lives and training of gladiators, including Spartacus. Complete your tour with a fascinating visit to the Mithraeum of Capua.

Chill at the hotel, and go to the nearby beach, to enjoy a quite day.

Day 6: Benedictine Abbey - Cooking Class

In the morning we visit the Benedictine Abbey of Cava De’Tirreni. Founded in 1011, the Abbey, also known as the Badia di Cava, is the only monastery in the world that has been continuously inhabited by Benedictine monks for over 1,000 years! We will visit its Cathedral, Roman Cloister, Catacombs, and small museum.

Afterwards we have a cooking class at the home of a local grandmother, or “nonna” as we say in Italy. We will prepare lunch with fresh ingredients sourced locally and learn how to create a selection of traditional regional dishes. We then feast on the fruits of our labor in an included lunch. And, of course, no Italian meal is complete without a couple of good bottles of vino. Recipes are provided afterward, ensuring you can recreate the same dishes back at home, too.

Day 7 Day 7: Path Of Gods Hike & Shepherd’S Hut

Day 7: Path Of Gods Hike & Shepherd’S Hut

The Path of Gods hike takes you along the Amalfi Coast, where you can admire one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in the world. During the guided hike, we meet a local shepherd who will share with us a selection of locally sourced produce.

The Food Experience includes:

– the making of fresh goat cheese in front of you (when in season);

– vegetables from his garden & cold cuts;

– pasta with tomato sauce.

We start the hike from the hamlet of Bomerano, in the town of Agerola. The first part of the hike offers outstanding views of Praiano, Positano, Li Galli islets and Capri’s island. Along the trail, elm and oak trees provide shade with hints of myrtle and juniper in the air. The path continues crossing wild precipices full of caves and small vineyards. This is a loop: within 5 hours you will get back to Bomerano.

We have a morning drive to Naples for a full-day walking tour of Naples.

the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Spaccanapoli.

Naples is a veritable feast for the senses and we will take full advantage of the tantalizing array of Neapolitan street food and pastries for lunch. Or you may opt to have a pizza lunch.

Return to Cava de’ Tirreni.

Farewell dinner at a restaurant where we will enjoy a delicious final meal and

raise one last toast to our Amalfi Coast adventure.
