Today move to Paestum. On the way, we suggest to drive along the Amalfitana Coast and visit Amalfi, Ravello. Positano. Amalfi is the main town of the coast now included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Once a Maritime Power still maintains its Medieval atmosphere. Not far from Amalfi, thereโ€™s Ravello, town that has been historically a destination for artists, musicians, and writers, including Richard Wagner who composed here some operas. Ravello is also famous for its villas, such as Villa Cimbrone, dating from at least the 11th century AD (The villa is now a hotel, and the gardens are open to the public) and Villa Rufolo unique in terms of architectural and decorative, which has never failed to inspire surprise and amazement of those travellers who for various reasons have gone here over the centuries. Positano, the jewel of the coast, with its cascade of multicoloured houses perched on the steep cliffs overlooking the sea and streets lined with glamorous boutiques. Continue to Paestum. It is famous for two things, its ancient Greek Temples and its Mozzarella. The temples considered some of the best-preserved temples in the worldand the Mozzarella is unparalleled.

Life in Matera has never stopped: it is the city that has always been inhabited, the city where, from the Paleolithic to today, it is possible to retrace the history of man who discreetly settled here, using the resources of the territory and perfectly integrating with it, without violating it. Matera is a unique city, an extraordinary timeless place. It is the city of the famous Sassi, the first site in southern Italy declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco, of the numerous rock churches, of the natural areas that include different habitats in which different fauna and flora species live, of the peasant traditions, of the landscapes of incomparable beauty.

Day 5: Beautiful Valditria - Alberobello - Locorotondo - Ostuni

After the breakfast at the hotel you may visit the beautiful Valditria and its cities: Alberobello, Locorotondo, Ostuni. It is an area characterized by the presence of the extraordinary "Trulli", mythical houses with a conical roof, built with overlapped dried limestone. The whole Valley is surrounded by wonderful countrysides dominated by a rich vegetation and natural landscapes. It includes characteristic villages, among which you will visit Alberobello, Locorotondo and Ostuni. Each of these towns appear magical and contain a fairy tale-like atmosphere. Alberobello, a Unesco World Heritage Site since 1996, has the largest number of Trulli in the town of Puglia. With destinations that attract millions of tourists to its narrow streets, Alberobello offers visitors a unique scenario. Two particularly striking districts include: "Rione Monti" with its local handcrafts shops and "Aia Piccola", where the most ancient Trulli and little museums are situated. Locorotondo is nicknamed "the balcony on the Itria Valley" because of its spectacular valley views. Considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, it offers visitor the opportunity to get lost between picturesque narrow stone streets and small white houses with gable roofs called "Cummerse". Ostuni is known as the โ€œWhite City" par excellence. It is situated on the Murge Hills with steep walls and its historic center, painted only in white, is a proliferation of plans, of ups and downs, of alleys and stairways, of tangled streets that cross arches and squares. On its summit stands the monumental Cathedral, in late Gothic style.

  • Day 6 Day 6: Lecce - โ€œThe Florence Of The Southโ€ - Otranto - Martina Franca
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Day 6: Lecce - โ€œThe Florence Of The Southโ€ - Otranto - Martina Franca

Today we suggest to not leave Apulia without a visit to the cities of Lecce & Otranto! Called โ€œthe Florence of the South,โ€ Lecce has strong Messapian roots, an ancient and mysterious people living in this area before the Romans. Today, it welcomes visitors with its magnificent baroque architecture, which blazes on the portals of its palaces and on the facades of the many churches that line the streets inside the cityโ€™s three ancient gates: Porta Rudiae, Porta San Biagio and Porta Napoli. After the visit, drive to Otranto. Bloodied and bruised by an infamous Turkish massacre in 1480, Otranto is best appreciated in its amazing cathedral, where the bones of 813 martyrs are displayed in a glass case behind the altar. Less macabre is the cathedralโ€™s other jaw-dropper, its medieval mosaic floor, which rivals the famous early Christian mosaics of Ravenna in its richness and historical significance.

  • Day 7 Day 7: Castel Del Monte - Castel Del Monte Unesco World Heritage Site - Bari
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Day 7: Castel Del Monte - Castel Del Monte Unesco World Heritage Site - Bari

Today move to Bari with en route stop in Castel del Monte. Youโ€™ll see Castel del Monte, an inhumanly exact geometric shape on a hilltop, from miles away. Mysterious and perfectly octagonal, itโ€™s one of southern Italyโ€™s most talked-about landmarks and a Unesco World Heritage Site. No one knows why Frederick II built it - thereโ€™s no nearby town or strategic crossroads. It was not built to defend anything, as it has no moat or drawbridge, no arrow slits, and no trapdoors for pouring boiling oil on invaders. Some theories claim that, according to mid-13th-century beliefs in geometric symbolism, the octagon represented the union of the circle and square, of God-perfection (the infinite) and human-perfection (the finite). The castle was therefore nothing less than a celebration of the relationship between humanity and God. After a visit to the castle, proceed to Bari and enjoy a relaxing stroll through its historic center.
