Itinerary of your trip Namibia - Adventure Trip Through The Southwest Of Africa

  • Day 1 Arrival In Windhoek, Pick Up From The Airport
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Arrival In Windhoek, Pick Up From The Airport

You will be picked up at the airport in Windhoek by 12 noon. If time permits, you will visit the small Daan Viljoen National Park with its large herds of zebra, wildebeest, blesbok, giraffe and ostriches.

In the afternoon, we visit the well-kept Windhoek with its slightly German small-town charm. However, the palm trees on Independence Avenue clearly convey that you are on vacation. In the evening, you can chat with your travel companions in a quaint Namibian steakhouse.

Overnight stay: in a guesthouse; (F), (approx. 50 km)

  • Day 2 Departure Into The Wilderness
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Departure Into The Wilderness

We set off on our adventure in the morning. We head straight to a private area in the Kohmas highlands, where we set up our tents in the shade of a group of trees. In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to explore the surrounding area undisturbed with your tour group on a one-hour hike. Your guide will tell you about the correct behavior in the bush so that you can safely enjoy this trip. In the evening, you will sit around the crackling campfire and enjoy the meal that your guide has prepared for you.

      Overnight: in a tent, S.v.; (F/M/A), (approx. 130 km)

  • Day 3 In The Namib
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      In The Namib

In the course of the morning we reach the Spreetshoogte Pass. On the approximately one-hour hike down the pass, you are offered a fabulous view over the vastness of the Namib Desert. Once you arrive in Solitaire, your mouth will be watering at the delicious, oven-fresh apple pie served in the legendary local bakery. Our destination for the day is Camp Sesriem on the edge of the sand dunes. An ideal starting point for excursions to the Sesriem Canyon and the highest dunes in the world at Sossusvlei. In the late afternoon we explore the canyon on a one-hour hike.

Overnight: in tent, S.v.; (F/M/A), (approx. 200 km)

  • Day 4 Legendary Dune Landscape Sossusvlei
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Legendary Dune Landscape Sossusvlei

Much to the delight of all early risers, we will crawl out of our tents about an hour before sunrise and take advantage of the cool morning hours. After a drive of around 60 km through the Namib Desert, we reach our destination of Sossusvlei. Those who wish climb the dunes. You can marvel at the unique sunrise in the middle of the fabulous dune landscape. An experience that will take your breath away. The masses of sand pile up to 300 m high and the wind constantly gives them new, surrealistic shapes. Later, when the best photo light has passed, we return to camp.

After a late breakfast, we set off for the Naukluft area. The drive is short. This unique mountain massif is worth exploring in more detail. The mountains impress with an average elevation of 1000 meters above the foreland, from where they are visible as a closed front.

Depending on the season, we also like to swap the canyon visit with the dune visit, which means visiting the canyon in the morning and the highest dunes in the afternoon.

We will spend two nights here.

Overnight: in tent, S.v.; (F/M/A), (approx. 250 km)

  • Day 5 Stunning Naukluft Area
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Stunning Naukluft Area

Our half-day hike (pure hiking time approx. 5 hours) runs through a breathtaking gorge whose striking feature is the coloring and layering of the rocks. You will need to be sure-footed and have a head for heights in places. Lush flora and lots of animals await you. Ornithologists will also get their moneyโ€™s worth. We return to camp at lunchtime. We also use the afternoon for a short, approximately one-hour hike. We head into a water-rich gorge, whose cool pools invite you to take a dip. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure.

      Overnight: in tent, S.v.; (F/M/A)

  • Day 6 Vast Desert Areas
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Vast Desert Areas

In the morning we break camp and set off for Kuiseb Canyon. From here we continue through the flat desert. You experience the surreal "nothingness" of this area. Despite the desert conditions, we keep coming across oryx, springbok and ostriches. In the afternoon, we reach the Blutkuppe, which turns blood red in the setting sun. Climbing this granite hilltop gives you a good impression of the vastness of the gravel desert. Bizarrely shaped rock colossi, smoothly polished holes and stone bridges offer themselves as photo motifs.

Overnight stay: in a tent, without accommodation; (F/M/A), (approx. 250 km)

  • Day 7 Namib-Naukluft Park
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Namib-Naukluft Park

We arrive in a region that is known as a lunar landscape. Here the Swakop has formed a bizarre, labyrinthine landscape over the course of thousands of years. Do you know the Welwitschia Mirabilis? These plants are only found in the Namib Desert, they use the moisture of the lake mist to survive, grow very slowly and can live up to 1200 years.

We arrive in the colonial town of Swakopmund in the afternoon. For the next two nights we will enjoy the achievements of civilization, preferring the guesthouse to the tent and the restaurant to the campfire.

Overnight: in guesthouse; (F), (approx. 130 km)

  • Day 8 Swakopmund
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Swakopmund

You can enjoy your free day in the city by taking a stroll through town, visiting a museum or basking in the sun on the beach. Or perhaps you would like to admire the landscape on a scenic flight over the Skeleton Coast, the Namib Desert or Damaraland? How about a horse ride through the lunar landscape, the unusual experience of sandboarding, the thrill of a tandem parachute jump or a boat trip out to sea to watch dolphins and seals? The organization and payment can be made directly with the organizers on site in Swakopmund, your tour guide will be happy to assist you.

      Overnight: in guesthouse; (F)

  • Day 9 Cape Cross Seal Colony
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Cape Cross Seal Colony

We drive to the seal colony at Cape Cross. The animals loll around as far as the eye can see, but the smell takes some getting used to, so we soon continue along a remote road towards Brandberg. The route has a lot to offer in terms of scenery, passing red table mountains and round granite peaks. We choose the most beautiful spot for an afternoon walk and for our outdoor camp. You enjoy the evening under the starry sky, the smell of bushmeat roasting on the fire fills your nose and the wilderness sings its song in your ear.

      Overnight: in a tent, o.S.; (F/M/A), (approx. 320 km)

  • Day 10 Brandberg &Amp; Damara Village
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Brandberg &Amp; Damara Village

We soon reach the Brandberg, so that we can go on a three-hour hike to the rock paintings of the "White Lady" in the morning. The figure is 45 centimetres high and depicts a warrior who was mistakenly interpreted as a woman by one of its discoverers due to her posture. In addition to this figure, there are other well-preserved rock carvings of warriors and animals.

After the hike, we continue to a camp near Twyfelfontein. We visit a traditional Damara village, where you will learn how hides are tanned and spearheads are made, which plants are edible and how fires are lit with fire sticks. The visit ends with singing and dancing.

      Overnight: in a tent, S.v.; (F/M/A), (approx. 180 km)

  • Day 11 Twyfelfontein
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Twyfelfontein

In the morning we reach the rock engravings of Twyfelfontein. This is Africaโ€™s largest collection of petroglyphs with over 2000 depictions (UNESCO World Heritage Site). On an approximately one-hour hike, you will see numerous of these prehistoric works of art, most of which depict various African animals and are easy to recognize. You also have a good chance of spotting desert elephants in the same area.

The route continues along roads with little traffic to Palmwag, a picturesque palm oasis directly on the Uniab River. You can refresh yourself at the pool before we go on another short hike in the late afternoon to enjoy the uniqueness of the landscape. With a bit of luck, you might spot oryx, springbok, mountain zebra or kudu.

Overnight: in tent, S.v.; (F/M/A), (approx. 130 km)

  • Day 12 Towards Etosha
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Towards Etosha

We drive to Kamanjab via the Grootberg Pass, an area with table mountains that look as if they were cut off with a knife in ancient times. Through the western Galton Gate we enter the famous Etosha National Park to spend the night at Olifantsrus and experience the magnificent wildlife there early the next morning.

Overnight: in tent, S.v.; (F/M/A), (approx. 250 km)

  • Day 13 Etosha National Park
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Etosha National Park

It is always exciting to see what different fur patterns the fauna has to offer. Grid patterns, stripes, spots, dots... And the horns also deserve attention. They are short or long, curved, straight ribbed and twisted. You will be able to observe all this on morning and afternoon drives. Some species, such as the mountain zebra, are only found in this region of the park. Not far from Okaukuejo, our camp for the next night, the waterhole is illuminated by spotlights. Here you can quietly observe and photograph the animals, which appear in large numbers every evening.

Overnight: in tent, S.v.; (F/M/A), (approx. 220 km)

  • Day 14 Etosha National Park
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Etosha National Park

We wanted to make the most of this day. Thatโ€™s why we start the drive through the park early to fully enjoy the uniqueness of the wildlife. Have your camera ready! You can capture a wide variety of animal species in one photo: Elephants walk through herds of antelopes, ostriches impress with their size, which stands out among the other species.

A lunch break is planned at Camp Halali and in the evening we reach Fort Namutoni, where we pitch our tents for the next two nights. However, you wonโ€™t want to go to sleep any time soon, as there is also a floodlit waterhole and plenty to discover here.

Overnight: in tent, S.v.; (F/M/A), (approx. 200 km)

  • Day 15 Etosha National Park
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Etosha National Park

There is so much for you to observe on todayโ€™s game drive through the nature park: the giraffes stack their long legs through the dust, lion cubs try to disturb their mothers, elephants treat themselves to a sand bath, rhinos pass the time. A diverse bird world also awaits you. Springbok, oryx, wildebeest, hartebeest, impala, steenbok - all these animals live here. Take in the wilderness with all your senses.

Overnight: in tent, S.v.; (F/M/A), (approx. 80 km)

  • Day 16 Life In Namibia
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      Life In Namibia

The municipality of Tsumeb is a mining town where copper, lead and zinc were mined from 1900 onwards. In the interesting Mineral Museum you can learn more about the 200 minerals, some of which are only found here.

In the Otavi Mountains, we pitch our tents at a former mission station and todayโ€™s guest farm with colonial flair. In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to explore one of Namibiaโ€™s most spectacular caves with your group. Some climbing skills are required here. If you donโ€™t feel like exploring a cave, you can also go for a walk on marked hiking trails or relax by the swimming pool.

      Overnight: in a tent, S.v.; (F/M/A), (approx. 180 km)

  • Day 17 To The Waterberg
    • 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

      To The Waterberg

In the morning we support a big cat project. You will have an unforgettable experience seeing the cheetahs up close and learning about the project. We stop for lunch at an interesting crocodile farm. In the afternoon we reach the Waterberg National Park. The Waterberg is a high plateau of almost 1,900 m altitude that has been created by erosion and slopes steeply downwards at the edges. We spend the night on an adjacent guest farm and have our private pool next to the campsite. A beautiful evening walk to a nearby spring is a rewarding end to your day.
